Excellent crab Rangoon, Drunken noodle was delicious and after speaking with an employee before leaving she advised what we could get next time that would be similar to our go to spot prior to moving here. Modern Organic Thai restaurant in Marshall that is warm, welcoming, has great service (if the owner is there, she is a real treat), and a community institution that has been around a long time (I think since 1993). Large menu featuring Thai dishes (the owner complimented our entree choices and expressed her love of Thai food flavors) and Chinese food. Everything is really good quality, excellent rangoons, some of the best you will find. Cute interior with a room with a fireplace and some historic/classic decor flourishes on the ceiling. Had SUCH a great meal here last night with the fam! Had crab rangoons, beef and broccoli, beef and shrimp Hunan style, sweet and sour chicken, lemon chicken, sesame chicken, and chicken lo mein. Service was good, food was delicious per usual...nice way to end the day. We miss Vit terribly, though...RIP Vit. That man remembered EVERYTHING about nearly every visit you made to Hunan Lion...truly going to miss seeing him. Must haves when you're here: Crab rangoons - I've yet to have any that compare! Sweet and sour chicken - I know what you're thinking: "So basic...nobody who truly enjoys Chinese food ever really eats that." BUT...their chicken is always tender and never dry, and the breading is never too much or too rock hard, like some breadings can be. What's lacking? Over the years and after they moved the location down the street, they decreased portion sizes and changed recipes of some of their dishes...one of those changes being the fried rice...thus the 4 stars instead of 5. read more

I have always loved this place since I started coming to their old location in 1992. The staff is friendly and service is quick. They have a good, solid menu with a nice variety. The Thai Basil Chicken is particularly delicious. Great spot for a change in pace in the dull Marshall dining scene. read more

It pains me to leave this review, but it seems over the past few years this place has just gotten worse and worse. I try not to judge a place based on one visit, but it seems every time I go there now something goes wrong. Waited over 20 minutes to get our drinks, they then gave us the wrong food, then when we got the right food we found a piece of rolled up paper in it, then they tried charging us for water. Unfortunately, this place is falling apart. I really want to love this place, but I've already given it too many chances. read more

Well this was very unexpected. I came to Marshall and was lets say under thrilled with their food offerings. I quite liked The Bistro and . . . well i thought that was all I would like. This is a little gem that I was very surprised by. The place right downtown and looks unassuming from the out side. The inside is quite nice. Well decorated and well classy for such a rural Midwest small town. The food was wonderful we started with a cup of sweet and spicy soup as well as a cup of egg drop. I had the cashew chicken and it was crunchy, sweet, spicy and just the right amount. Danie had the orange chicken equivalent and it was also superb. I liked the fact that they offered a good selection of beer and wine rather than just the usual fair for the area. I was on the edge of giving them five stars but they are missing something I can't seem to put my finger on it but, I will give them another chance on my next trip to Marshall. We recently moved here from Houston and this is our go to place in town. Nothing else comes close to the quality and healthy choices on this menu. Scallops in Black Bean sauce and their Curry dishes are very well done. The owner is everywhere and the service is always good. First and for most very very clean. Walked in (was eating alone) and was instantly greeted and seated. First thing I ordered was the Thai iced tea which came quickly and was creamy and refreshing. Then I ordered egg drop soup and the drunken noodles. The egg drop soup was some of the best that I have had. With some light wonton chips on top. It was smooth and at just the right temperature, I probably could have eaten just that and been satisfied. Then was the drunken noodles. Thai noodles and spices with chicken and vegetables. The menu said spicy but it was more hot than spicy, definitely my third favorite part of the meal. All in all nice atmosphere, great soup, and good food. Worth your time for sure! read more

The food on this place is delicious, bubble tea absolutely amazing, the only but in this place is that they take forever on get your order but once is place the food and drinks gets to your table really fast. The walls are covered in beautiful art and the atmosphere of the place is lovely in general. Haven't tried much on the menu, despite having eaten there at least 30 or 40 times. Only ever had Egg Drop Soup (class), Crab Rangoon (class), and Sesame Chicken (class to 10th power). Love the staff, so friendly. Know me and my family members by name. Went in once to pick up an order, and while I was waiting the host brought me free samples of Bubble Tea. So friendly and eager to please. Pricey but worth it, IMO. read more

Came today at the recommendation of the locals and it was everything they said it would be. It is a beautiful restaurant that is decorated with painting that the owner himself painted. So disappointed! I went on a date night with husband. The service was poor...we were basically ignored and our food took almost an hour to arrive! When it was finally acknowledged that our 'order was lost' and they would work on it, it took another 20 minutes. My husbands dish was brought out at least 5 minutes before mine. While paying, there was ZERO offer to 'make it right' even though they knew we were not pleased. If there would have at least been a gesture, it would have helped to make a positive impression, but NO effort to appease. Sorry. You just lost a customer. read more

I have always enjoyed eating here, even before they moved to the new location. The service is always fantastic. I don't think I have ever had a server that wasn't polite. For as long as I can remember I have almost always started off with the egg drop soup. As for the main course, I typically get the same thing, cashew chicken. There was one time I wasn't a fan and that is when I did carry out. It was near closing so that may or may not have been why it didn't taste as fresh as it does when I eat inside.
