This is the best of the Middle Eastern restaurants in town. What their standard menu lacks in volume makes up for in taste and quality (they have rotating specials as well). Nothing here seems overly prepackaged. From the meats, to the sides, and to the seasonings, everything seems made with care here. I've had the lamb and beef kabobs, but my favorite is falafel which I think is the best tasting in town - hands down. They're perfectly cooked with crispy exterior and warm chickpea goodness on the inside. And they hold up to pita and toppings without losing texture. I tend to get the meal and add an extra order of falafel just to snack on. Come hungry because Hummus Express is filling with decent portion sizes. Only thing I don't care for (and why I tend to substitute it out) is the rice. It gives off Chinese fried rice vibes with the peas and carrots. But overall, small complaint. And as they make everything to order, expect to wait a bit. Luckily the service is pleasant. read more

Hummus Express is delicious! My husband and I have been going to Flame and Skewers regularly for a few years. I found Hummus Express on GrubHub and it is my new favorite. The hummus is incredibly smooth and creamy with just the right amount of tang. I have tried the Kofta, falafel, lamb and beef shawarma and the chicken shawarma. The chicken Shawarma has been my favorite. We have only ordered through GrubHub so we will have to try it in person. Falafel always tastes best right out of the kitchen. Solid food, quick prep. We did a takeout order of the chicken soup, a falafel wrap, a chicken shawarma wrap, and a greek salad. The soup was really good and nice and hot! The wraps were just ok, not a lot of flavor and kind of soggy (again, it was a to-go order that we ate about 15 mins after picking up). While I waited for my falafel plate and hummus, I saw the owner mixing a large bowl of ground meat and other items barehanded. Been here a dozen times for lunch and some for early dinners and I couldn't rave enough. The food has been delicious every time. No complaints. The older guy during the day has never given me problems nor have I ever had problems with my order. Tonight we stopped by for dinner around 745ish. Ordered food and sat down. Two beef/lamb shawarma and two chicken kebabs. Noticed right off the bat that there wasn't as much meat as I usually get on both shawarma plates we ordered and all 6 pieces of pita bread that we ordered came out cold. Our pink-haired waitress even faked coming out with hot pita as if she was holding a hot potato. Found that weird. As soon as we started eating we noticed the staff had turned off the ceiling fans. It's 100 degrees out and we were all getting sweaty eating our food. I asked our waitress if she could turn them back on to which she said she would ask her manager. Never heard from her again nor did the fans come back on. About 20 minutes later I propped the door open to let some air in and these people had the audacity to close the door again. Here's the cherry on top. About 5 minutes before closing I noticed the whole staff walked out the front door, ready to go home. Each of them had faces of not wanting to be there. Shortly after I noticed our waitress, who went to the table behind us where a couple were sat down enjoying their meal. She went with to-go boxes letting the couple know that the restaurant closed at 830 to which the woman asked if that meant that they had to leave. This employee straight up gave her a cold, unapologetic and stern "YES." I noticed the other waitress cleaning tables look up at her with a smirk on her face basically saying "did you really just hit them with that?" The couple wasted no time in packing up the rest of their food to leave. I think every patron in the restaurant was stopped cold when they heard what had just happened. I caught the couple on their way out and asked them if they had asked for to-go boxes but they said no that the girl just showed up BASICALLY KICKING THEM OUT!! We both agreed that was extremely rude. We were speaking in normal volume voice when this voice from the kitchen spoke up and reaffirmed that they close at 830. You could tell this nasty lady had such an attitude and we could tell she couldn't care less about the satisfaction of her customers and wanted to go home because it was closing time. Never ever have I ever been kicked out while sitting down in the middle of my meal. If it was that big of a deal they should have warned us that our order needed to be to-go because they close shop at 830. Maybe even if that waitress said something like "I'm very sorry to have to do this but we close at 830 and that includes the lobby as well ....etc etc" Regardless of this being my favorite middle eastern spot, I won't be coming back. Maybe it was this night crew or maybe we showed up on a bad day but all 4 in my group agreed that what this restaurant did was very rude to those couple and left a very bad tastes in everyone's mouth. read more

When I was ordering, my son was complaining a little about me suggesting we split the meal. Once it came to the table, he was not complaining any more. Very Generous portions. I recently was out shopping at this Rosedale shopping center and was craving some mediterranean food. I decided to try Hummus Express for the first time. It was a Saturday afternoon and the shopping center was busy, but was surprised that not one customer was in Hummus Express. That was the first cause for concern. I decided to order a beef shawarma sandwich and take it to go. The order was ready in maybe 3 minutes (surprisingly fast). I asked if there was any sauce, the cashier listed the types of sauces they had. I asked for garlic sauce. She then charged me $1 for it. I thought, Ok, that's fine, since this was my first time here I did not know they'd charge for sauce. I took it home, hungrily awaiting to devour the sandwich. I opened the sauce and it was very thick and paste-like. I did a taste test and did not like it at all. It tasted like a chalky paste and not like a sauce at all, so I refrained from using it in my sandwich. My sandwich wasn't cold per se, but it was not very warm. Something in the sandwich tasted off, not sure if it was the beef or the veggies, but I was not a fan of Hummus Express after this experience. I'm glad I went out of my comfort zone to try a place I'd never been, and maybe there are other items on the menu that are better choices than what I ordered, but I will stick to other places for my mediterranean cravings. Love it absolutely. Their garlic sauce is pretty strong (it's a good thing). I'd recommend calling in ahead for pickup if you're not gonna dine-in because it takes a while to prepare food (I keep forgetting this every time myself lol). Lamb and beef meats are pre-mixed. I wanted to get lamb (only) shawarma plate but I was told that's not possible. I just wish I could lamb shawarma sandwich/plate just like chicken. Closes at 8 for dine in not 8:30 like the posted hours and blazing open sign would lead you to believeand if you arrive at 7:55 they'll insist you take your food to go. Not very good hospitality. This place is a hidden gem! The owners are so sweet and make the most delicious food. I went in to just grab a menu and the owner said not to leave with out trying his lentil soup, which he then gave me a huge free serving of. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I told him I would be right back and when out to get my mom out of the car so we could both enjoy a delicious meal. We shared some more lentil soup and a chicken shawarma plate and tried some of the baklava. The owner also gave us a sample of the chicken soup, which was delicious as well. I finally made it here! I've seen the reviews idk why it took me so long actually....So my go to has always been either flame or sultans and i'm soooo sad the last 2 visits to sultans for dinner i've had to walk out idk if they've changed ownership or what i don't see any of the same people anymore and the new owner i guess he runs around stressed and the food either they are just out of it or it looks nothing like it used to.... There were only a few diners inside as i'm assuming because of the current state of everything people are choosing to eat at home. We did place our order to go as i just wanted to watch netflix and vegetate or de stress that night. i got the beef shawarma it comes with rice, hummus and salad and my son got the same plus baklava and of course we are garlic fiends i won't apologize for that it's just in my blood Lol so we had to get a large garlic sauce and i've passed this love for garlic on to my son so if i talk to you and i smell like garlic it's pure love i promise ;) i won't go into my normal long stories Lol all the reviews are on point they put Love in this food and that was the best rice i've had anywhere here in a mediterranean place hands down!! This is a great little place that I missed for years. Due to its location I didn't think it would be anything special, but boy was I wrong. They prepare everything when you order it, so it's not just sitting on a hot lamp. They have all the traditional dishes that you would expect to find at a Mediterranean place; Gyros, falafel, shawarma, Kabob, kufta, and of course hummus. The staff is always very nice and I do not know if it is, but it feels like a family owned place. They really care about their product that they put out. The best part about this place is the hummus! They have the best hummus in town. I will continue to Patron here even if it's just for a batch of hummus. read more

I love the hummus here! My 14 year old daughter doesn't like hummus but she LOVES the hummus from hummus express. I like the garlic sauce, I always get extra because I smoother my chicken in it! It's nice they are always friendly and welcoming! I always get a side of falafels here too! If you lIke baklava they have a really good baklava here!
