Mr humes is a perfect gentleman and the quality of staff and food is priceless.....BUT Mrs humes is rude , discriminatory against anyone with tattoos regardless if they are covered up she would refuse to employ or even sack you if you had one done. Mrs humes spoke to me so rudely one day as I was talking to a member of staff that served me while the shop was EMPTY, and the phone rang so the staff who was free went to answer it. At this point Mrs humes appeared and DEMANDED I leave her premises if i had what I wanted,as staff need to serve others, well as the shop was empty I can only assume she can see dead people, then she told me I was stopping staff from answering the phone ,so I can only assume as I haven't been in the back of the premises that there is more than one phone or perhaps a switch board. With the rudeness and discrimination she displayed I said I was leaving ,which i did in tears and not before telling the staff I have depression since I can remember , someone with the same condition but going home to an empty house could have resulted in that being their last supper...I have stopped going to the bakery as well as my husband ,neighbours, friends and some shop owners ,as they saw the state I was in.....I had been off work since January 2016.but I always have my game face on for the public...this is an example to everyone in the world never judge a person by their appearance, colour, religion, nationality, homosexuality ,age etc. Because I thought Mrs humes was a lovely lady as I bought her a box for the charity first response teams as they were using a money bag , once she saw my religious tattoos on my arms to help me cope with my depression and I took the time to talk to a member of staff. Baring in mind I always put £5 in the box I bought for the charity, Mrs humes TOLD me to leave once she had my money which is ssp till this day.. I'm sorry that this may shock people as it did me ,I've lived here 24 years, but they are not the only bakery in Essex ..............Also may I add I moved here from Hackney London because of house prices and talk about community spirit, but people are what make communities like Halstead have that spirit. Also what ever age we are we have to accept changes as time goes on. I hope this gives who ever reads this food for thought.... read more
