Yes! If you needed more reasons to visit Orford, this is one of them. In fact, you should visit even if all the other reasons weren't there.
Prices are on the steep side, but more than justified: quality is there, with wonderful creations to boot. Just look at the variations on the sourdough theme, and be tempted: they reinvented the boring baguette and turned it into a bundle of fun. It's strong, chewy, rich and complex, and turns into a dish in itself. Then you can try the 'normal' sourdoughs, or the variations (never saw that many wallnuts in a loaf, you're definitely not cheated here). It's also bread that keeps, which is always a good sign, so don't hesitate to stock up.
Get there early, as they're quite popular and run out quickly, and try the cakes - generous, honest food, just like the bread. And nice staff. And a nice café. What more could you want? read more
