I have enjoyed lovely light lunches in the tea shop which forms part of the bakery. The menu is typical lunch fair with sandwiches and jacket potatoes. Of course you can always purchase one of their cakes for dessert! I would definitely recommend this bakery and suggest you use the Ingatestone Community Centre for parking as the bakery is situated along the bussy high street, with no parking outside that I can recollect. There is also a small restaurant with a long refectory table with a relatively simple menu comprising mainly baked goods (sausage rolls, sandwiches using their bread, tarts, etc). It's a great place for a simple breakfast. They also do chocolate though, for me, it's all about the bread.

Disappointing Service and disappointing Variety of Cakes for a Bakery…read more Went to buy some cakes at the bakery side; counter bare of cakes except for a few over-baked eccles cakes. I saw one that was not on the cusp of burnt, purchased it. The Server took my money, gave my change at the same time turning her back to me, and walking off. As I was pocketing my change, musing on whether this was rude or not, I was distracted enough to accidentally leave my purchased cake, in its bag, on the pay counter. Oops. I had a guest at home (hence the need for cakes), so 'popped' back in a couple of hours when guest had left in order to retrieve the purchased cake. I discovered, the Deli had, instead of keeping the sold cake aside, SOLD my cake. That was not too bad, but they offered me a replacement from their 'over-baked' Eccles that still remained - clearly people did not want THOSE cakes either. Cheeky. I thought it was naughty to sell MY cake before they had used up their own stock.
