Humdingers is a roadside scoop shop off of Rt 101. They have hard ice cream and sorbet. What they have to offer is a pleasant (if run down) outdoor seating area and the sounds of the brook behind it. There are cute benches and an awning to protect you from a quick summer storm. My mom and I were both really pleased with the ice cream. Whatever brand they are carrying is excellent. Mom especially enjoyed the walnut ratio in her maple walnut. The Purple Cow was tasty. That being said: Humdingers is not what it was - The soft serve was out of service today - and there doesn't seem to be any hot food anymore. I am unclear on the status of the mini-golf, but it looks grim. There is only one person behind the counter but that is enough to scoop the ice cream. It is not an unpleasant place to eat a scoop of ice cream, but it's just an ice cream stand at this point. A great place to bring the family for some miniature golf and ice cream & food on a nice humdingin' sunny day! Humdingers is located on Route 101 in the eastern edge of Keene, across the road from the future Cheshire County Jail under construction. Humdingers offers drive-in type food including ice cream treats, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, rolls, subs, fried seafood baskets, fries, onion rings, grilled chicken Caesar salad, and cold drinks. 11 Weekday Lunch Specials ($3.99-$4.99 plus tax) served with fries are offered too. The 19 hole miniature golf course ($4 per game) is decorated with some wooden carved animals including a large moose in the center of the course. I stopped here for lunch and got the Popcorn Shrimp Roll Lunch Special ($5.39 with tax) and a small Diet Coke ($1.62 with tax) for the road trip back to Manch. The good sized soft hoagie roll with tarter sauce was overflowing with lots of popcorn shrimp (30) and served with crispy shoestring fries, slightly greasy and pretty tasty! The owner is very friendly, and the golf course is great. It has a very rustic feel, and needs some work however in my own opinion it added a much more welcoming touch. We recently moved to Keene. After reading an article in a local paper, we couldn't wait to go for a burger and mini-golf. "Seating along the river" was dirty and in disrepair. Actually rotted furniture with rusty nails sticking out. Paid $22 for a BURNED hotdog and way overcooked hamburger complete with BURNED black grilled roll and overdone fries. The hotdog skin was hard, black and had burst open. We returned the hotdog as it was not edible. The owner was very annoyed but took it back. He returned in 5 minutes with another BURNED black hotdog in a cold roll...with no condiments. He had my burned hotdog with him which he then fed to two dogs in a small pen behind the building. We ate a few fries and left with our bottled water. The mini-golf sadly was in total disrepair. Humdingers is a disgrace to the quaint town of Keene. read more

We decided to give the mini golf course a try because, according to the website, it seemed like it would be pretty cool. It was listed that there were waterfalls and some scary features on holes 3 and 16. Absolutely nothing happened and I didn't even see a waterfall. The course had overgrown plants, wrinkled and torn golf course fabric, and really not a good setup compared to other courses in the area. Seems like they just gave up. I'm sure with a little upkeep and renovation, the website description would be accurate instead of misleading. Luckily it was only $4 a person otherwise I would've asked for a refund. read more

We drove over for a game of miniature golf and came away having had fun without being impressed with the course. The cost is $4; you can debate whether that's a fair price. The course is 18 holes and, frankly, a bit run-down. There's clearly been some effort to clean up the weeds, but there are some pretty patchy places, overgrown shrubs, and here and there it's just plain dirty and worn. We found the course reasonably challenging, which may say more about our terrible putting than anything else. Stopped to play some mini-golf and an ice-cream with the kids. They have no restroom, just a port-a-potty on site, kind of situated behind an apartment building, which I found odd. Played the golf and wasn't impressed with the condition of the course. Overgrown shrubbery, weeds, flower pots with nothing but weeds coming out of them, dirty greens on the course, broken décor and run down condition due to lack of upkeep...just not impressed. Behind the building there were some dog cages, and it appears that someone lives above the food stand. Not to mention it was slightly uncomfortable playing mini-golf with kid,s across from a prison with windows for the inmates to watch us from... Just a weird feel. Skipped the ice-cream and took a nice, pleasant walk in downtown Keene for treats instead. read more

Stopped here in our RV .. cake in off route 9 taking all the backroads to get there (yikes). Once there it was quaint and clean and we were waited on by a nice gentleman who I believed to possibly be the owner (?). We ordered 2 kids meals and a chicken fingers basket ... ordered ice cream while we waited for food - ice cream hit the spot and was super impressed with the service .. They should just take the website down. Not being from the area, we were excited to go mini golfing and decided to surprise our kids. Well when we pulled up and saw a parking lot roped off, lawn equipment under the awning for ice cream, weeds everywhere, a no tell motel next door, and trash piled up in the house right next to the ice cream stand we realized the surprise was on us. My daughter asked if we were going nightmare mini golfing. The website makes it look like it must have been a great place at one time LONG ago and they should really just take down the website and put an actual "closed" sign in front of the business... read more

They just started offering Texas-style BBQ this season, & I noticed someone with Texas license plates on the employee side of the parking lot, so I assume it's real Texas BBQ. ;) They offer a small ice cream for $2.75 & a large for $3.75, & the smalls are quite generous. Two large scoops in a plain cone - certainly more than enough. ;) I wasn't ordering for myself but I heard the gentleman behind the windows mention to another customer that they were out of sherbet but they had sorbet (or vice versa, I can't recall), so if you don't do dairy it sounds like they generally carry dairy-free options. Haven't had any food here before but while we were here someone's order came out & it smelled amazing. Would definitely be up for trying something. My main issue is with the mini golf. We're here at least once/season, & last year & this year I've noticed it gets pretty overgrown. I can sympathize with the fact that buying enough mulch for the entire course (around all the shrubs, trees, & plants) is not cost-effective, but it seems they've over-extended them selves, so they'll leave the mower on the side of the course with the mulched grass blown all over the course while its open... And the dirty filters (at least 6 of them) were left on the water areas with the water area full of filthy green water. So yes, if this was kept up 100% it would be nicer than Twinkle Town, but this place is over-extended & Twinkle Town is kept up a lot better. This place has a better selection of food & ice cream, but if you're just after mini golf & happy with soft serve, Twinkle Town is the way to go. The other thing that's nice about this place is the river behind the building. You can relax & enjoy your ice cream on a swinging adirondack chair! read more

While creamy Cove has been there for many years and Humdingers was an addition to that ,we fell the service has greatly diminished. Our family of 5 took a drive after dinner one night from Rindge to specifically go here for ice-cream . The place was completely dead . We found the prices to be as high as Kimballs in Jaffrey but no where near the quality or quantity . We also found it odd that our ice -cream selections were served in a Coke paper cup and not a specific sundae bowl to enjoy . Portions were quite small for the price. read more

This is the most run-down dirty mini golf place I have ever been to. Many of the decorations are broken, there were piles of raked leaves and brush left around. The little water pond was just a big pool of stagnant algae filled water. To top it all off there are piles of dog poop everywhere thanks to the dog that is kept in a kennel behind the building. We were lucky enough to have one of our golf balls roll in it and then my child picked up his golf ball with out realizing it. When we asked if there was a bathroom with a sink to wash up in we were directed to a porta potty with hand sanitizer. Gross. Go to Twinkle Town - it is much nicer, cleaner and - bonus - less expensive!! read more

Sad, just so sad to see this place on the decline. I used to bring my daughter here for ice cream when she was little. We went back for a nostalgic visit and we were shocked at how visibly run down the place is. We peeked over the fence to look at the mini golf course and were shocked to see how overgrown and unkept things are. A tie down was actually holding the one time very cool carved moose antlers on. I thought it was actually a joke at first. Ice cream was good though. I hope it can make a comeback. read more

This review is for the mini golf, I have not had food or ice cream from here. The course is overgrown and not well kept at all. Landscaping in many spots is dead and not pruned back. The course itself needs refurbing, the "grass" is badly worn. At $4 per person, its not that great of deal, next time we'll head to Twinkletown, a bit cheaper and much better taken care of.
