While they got banged up, they fared better than their car. What a nightmare: 800 miles from home, car wrecked in the evening two days before Thanksgiving in a relatively rural area you don't know well. Apparently CHP called J&M to tow the vehicle, and they arrived promptly. The officer gave my family a ride back to their hotel, but they soon realized they had left a few things in their car. The next day--the day before Thanksgiving, we called J&M to see if we could retrieve some things from the vehicle, including much-needed medical equipment. They arranged for us to meet them in Arcata, and the time aligned with picking up a rental car in Eureka. The fellow we met was friendly and professional. Brother in law filled out a little paperwork, then we followed the driver to a second yard where the car was secured. He opened the gate and waited for us to retrieve my brother's personal items from the car. No one wants to get their car towed, or find themselves in a situation requiring that service. But our experience with this company was that they are prompt, direct, say what they do and do what they say. In an emergency situation like dealing with a car accident, that's about the best you can ask for.

This was very late in the day on Saturday and my shifter arm went sloppy riding Hwy 36 to the coast. I was clearly going to lose it. I made it to the motel and took the shifter arm off to try to create a shim to keep the shaft spline and the shifter arm engaged, but no such luck. I thought I was screwed and was scrambling trying to figure out how to get my bike back to the Bay Area. Incredibly, Mark of North Coast Cycle answered my call at 7am on a Sunday! And, despite his shop being closed on Sundays and Mondays, he agreed to meet me there to get a temporary fix in place to get me home safely. He had me up and running in a matter of minutes. This is a good shop, run by a good human. And he'll work on just about anything. In his words, Mark works "On anything that's street legal." Sure enough, looking around his shop, I saw Harleys, ADVs, some Japanese sport bikes, and European brands.

I would NEVER recommend this business. My roadside assistance notified me that A&M responded to the…read moretow request and would be providing the service needed with an ETA. They never showed. I waited for 2 hours after the 1 hour eta window, for total waiting time of 5 hours. The next day I tried again, and again, the same thing happened. On the next day, the driver told me to tell him when I was ready, which I did, of which he said it was too late. The next day he said the same, but another tow company towed it because it was on the street in non-working status. I did know this was coming, not the exact day/time, which is why I requested the service on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday......until the city towed it on Thursday between 3:30 - 5:00 pm, the only time during the entire week, I left my house. The cost for that towing is $440 plus $100 city fee. Of which I don't have. Now, the clock is ticking $50/day. Next week, when I'm paid, the bill will be $350 more. Total expected bill - $890, that is my water bill, energy bill, food bill, trash bill... ALL BECAUSE THIS BUSINESS RESPONDED TO THE TOW REQUEST AND DIDN'T SHOW! They shouldn't have taken the request, if they couldn't provide the service. I'M ENRAGED. THEY SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. I would give them a negative point rating if I could. I will be taking them to small claims court.
