This is precisely why I researched beer joints in advance, and was so delighted to find La Beata. Walking into La Beata, it smelled like a good beer spot should. Heavy hops aroma, particularly of the ipa varieties. Looking at the menu on the wall to the left, I saw it was full of ipas and they were all local Catalan varieties (yes!) My partner and I came here a couple times and got a couple ipas each visit. If hazy, juice bombs are your thing, you will find them here. You'll also find some more traditional west coast varieties, though all good nonetheless. I should note they had other beer varieties too, along with a full bar worth of liquor. But so glad they represented quality local ipas so we'll. Highly recommend!

Having spent half an hour chatting with co-owner Albert in the beer shop the day prior, I decided to wander by their bar the next day and try some more of their beers. They have 9 taps and then a ton of bottled beers, including a new favorite of mine: carrot cake beer! (Yep, #sobasic.) Another of the owners was behind the bar that Thursday, the lovely half-Spanish half-Swedish Carl, who spoke fantastic English and took amazing care of me. They open at 6 PM mid week so it's a great spot for a post-work beer or two. The prices are good for the quality, and the customer service is unbeatable.

They have seating inside, but outside is where the fun is as you watch the slow neighborhood go by. Staff is friendly, and they have menus in several languages, with each dish including a beer pairing suggestion. Both times I had a highly satisfying hummus platter and patatas bravas. Basic but tasty, I liked that there were enough bread sticks and carrots to actually eat all the hummus! Great textures and flavors. The potatoes were well cooked with slightly piquant sauce and aioli that thankfully wasn't glooping up the whole dish like some places do. Very filling meal. My man had a hamburger, which was quite large and filling. He didn't rave about it, but like a good spaniard he ate the whole thing, heh. Definitely recommend trying out Abirradero for a snack, drink and sit if you are in the area.

And if beer isn't your preferred beverage, they also sell wine, spirits, and coffee. Furthermore, they have a simple yet tasty menu that consists of appetizers and sandwiches, the likes of which are so big that they are best to share. A couple of my favorites are their dressed olives (olivas La Rovira) and their three cheese sandwich.
