During my travels in Barcelona, I (naturally) consumed a lot of crappy European lagers. It's almost impossible to avoid this if you're partaking of beer in Europe, especially at your average restaurant or pub. This is precisely why I researched beer joints in advance, and was so delighted to find La Beata.
Walking into La Beata, it smelled like a good beer spot should. Heavy hops aroma, particularly of the ipa varieties. Looking at the menu on the wall to the left, I saw it was full of ipas and they were all local Catalan varieties (yes!)
My partner and I came here a couple times and got a couple ipas each visit. If hazy, juice bombs are your thing, you will find them here. You'll also find some more traditional west coast varieties, though all good nonetheless.
I should note they had other beer varieties too, along with a full bar worth of liquor. But so glad they represented quality local ipas so we'll. Highly recommend! read more
