We stopped by Hula Tang Shave Ice in Chino Hills on a late Saturday afternoon after doing taxes for a pick-me-up. We ordered two things: the soft serve swirl (raspberry & pineapple) and the "rainbow" shaved ice, and both were excellent. The soft serve swirl was super creamy and smooth, and the flavors paired really well. The rainbow shaved ice had great flavor and the ice texture was perfect: light, fluffy, and not crunchy like some places. My toddler thoroughly enjoyed tasting both items. It was a great treat for a warm afternoon and exactly what we were hoping for. This is in a busy shopping center, so traffic around the area is pretty busy, but parking was really easy to find here. The shaved ice here is great, made to order and we definitely enjoyed these on a hot day. The service was great-- however I felt so bad because at the time of our order they only had one girl behind the counter. She still took our order and made them the best she could while also giving her attention to other customers as they would come in. She did a great job at taking care of many customers all by herself. The atmosphere inside was so lovely it took me back to Hawaii for a moment with how nice it was inside. Came by on a late Friday night after having some KBBQ. I ordered the strawberry-flavored Dole Whip in a cup. The order was completed immediately. We enjoyed our desserts inside the shop. This was my first time having a strawberry dole whip. What initially caught my eye was the color - it was a beautiful shade of pink that brought a smile to my face. The dole whip isn't very sweet, it's just as refreshing as the traditional pineapple one. I finished my dessert quickly, and I wanted another one. I would originally have given a 5 star. Love this little spot in Chino. We've had great experiences here and drive from Monrovia to come here. Shaved ice with all the flavors, dole whip and ice cream. There isn't a place quite like it. You can do a make your own so you get exactly what you're hoping for. People working here are always friendly and nice. However...this last time... I will say this last time I went, the place smelled like heavily of cleaning supplies. It was overpowering. Almost left but it started to fade so we stayed. Come to find out it was from the aerosol canned Lysol spray they were using to clean all the tables, the counter, and around the syrups and shaved ice machine. Spring is in full swing. It is nice out and there's is nothing better than Hula Yang after church. We came to third service at CCCH down the street. Firstly, I have never stated that I am a shaved ice connoisseur. I only expressed my own opinions based on my personal experience. You mentioned your flavors are "true-to-fruit" tastes, but that also tells me you actually don't use 100% fruit juice and it's likely a fruit syrup concoction, therefore I wasn't wrong when I mentioned your shave ice did taste artificial. Additionally, I visited your establishment because I was craving dessert after dinner in the area, I am not running around LA trying to find a Hawaiian shaved ice establishment. I was simply looking for dessert options in the area close by. My Review: I think I'm going to give up finding legit Hawaiian shaved ice comparable to the ones I've had in Hawaii. The dessert we ordered was pretty disappointing. After reading a couple reviews I figured I might find something close to Uncle Clay's or Ululani's but this place isn't even close. The syrups taste artificial and the first red flag was probably seeing all the kids flocking to this place and ordering crazy concoctions with toppings like pop rocks smh. We ordered a large and picked POG, pina colada, and guava but it was way too sweet. I was done after a couple bites. Perhaps I've outgrown these overly sweet desserts, but I really miss the Hawaiian shaved ice I've had in Hawaii where all the syrups are made in house with no added sugar and real fruit juices. The flavors? Artificial overload. I tried the mango and "blue raspberry," and both tasted like cough syrup mixed with sugar water. Absolutely no real fruit taste--just pure chemical. To make it worse, the syrup barely soaked into the ice, so it was flavorless in the middle and sickeningly sweet on top. The staff seemed annoyed to even be there, barely acknowledged us, and rushed the order even though no one was behind us. The place was also weirdly sticky--tables, counters, even the floor felt like they hadn't been cleaned in days. Save your money and go anywhere else.
