Cute little drive through that's conveniently accessible. The barista working was friendly and kind. I asked for a white chocolate vanilla chai latte and I meant to say iced but most have forgotten. She made it hot. I said I'm sorry any way to switch to iced and she said no problem. She did it without any complaint. The drink was delicious and topped with whip cream. I have had mostly great experiences with this place but unfortunately the last severely stops have been pretty mediocre. I will speak of my most recent experience. My partner and I stopped for some iced americanos. The only thing we like to request is to have a full cup of ice so the coffee isn't watered down by the hot shots, we like to taste the coffee! The last two times we've come our coffees have had maybe 7 ice cubes. This time I requested light cream and a full cup of ice. Barely any ice and half the drink was cream. Then she Hands me a separate cup full of ice... I probably wouldn't be writing this if it was just the coffee that was the problem, but the service was poor. I asked politely to have my coffee remade with less cream and her reply was "I'm pretty sure I put 1oz of cream in there" which it was obvious there was way more. I've worked in coffee before and it's not hard to just say yeah I can remake it for you how you'd like. It really doesn't take long. read more

How do they succeed in burning the coffee so completely? I can live with we got waited on after a maskhole who came along later than us, but that's the worst espresso drink I have had in a decade. No joke. Partner couldn't even finish theirs. The baked goods were okay, I suppose. Nothing great, but edible. We dumped partner's java; I'm a die-hard and drank mine anyway. Would not go again. Carmel frappe and Carmel white chocolate mocha. Really good! The frappe had such a good flavor-can't put a finger on it. Maybe coconut. Will definitely be going there tomorrow too. read more

We have visited this coffee stand numerous times a week. The coffee is usually very good and the employees are a ray of sunshine. Today however we were served by the owner herself, and her rudeness and condescending attitude marks the end of our patronage at Hugo's. I love Oregon. Coffee shacks everywhere and we don't have a one in Michigan. Mexi Chocolate was amazing. I thought I might like to try to recreate it at home and so asked what was in it. Well, the continuing saga..... my son is home! A Veteran out of the army... he went to Hugo's today to get coffee... both he and his wife took a drink and spit it out!!!! They are Seattle people, coffee hounds. They dumped both drinks!! A waste of almost $12!!!!!! He said it was so burnt!!! He also said he thinks he tasted a soap like taste.... I am a barista - that soap taste is residue from using too much cleaner in the machine and not rinsing it thoroughly!! That can give you immediate diarrhea!!! We know it happened to us!!!! He said she was snotty/uppety and almost rude.New flash lady!! He us moving here drinks coffee wvery day - somethimes 2ce a day... wow!!! Your HUGE loss!!! Great coffee and service, and yummy bagels! As the only place open regular hours in Nehalem, I am glad it's someplace good.

The problem with bad reviews is that if things change, the old review is stuck in time. I've been to Hugo's twice this week, a different barista each time, and was very happy with the service. Both young ladies were pleasant, quick to acknowledge me (even while working on the previous customer), and fast at making coffee drinks. There were a few cars ahead of me each time and I was out of there in under 12 minutes both times with four drinks and pastries. Good job and thank you! read more

I didn't ask for soy to be petty. I asked for soy because my son that I'm breastfeeding has a dairy allergy. Normally I wouldn't care on a messed up coffee order, but here I am, at 12:30 am with a four month old screaming in pain, writing this. I won't name names. This is the 2nd time I've stopped here to not only have my drink made wrong but have terrible service as well. I asked for a vanilla blended drink with no coffee & soy. I double checked there was no coffee since it was brown when she handed it to me. She said no. I paid & left. Came back & told her it tastes like coffee & cream. She assured me there was no coffee but the base had coffee in it... ummmmm I can't drink this for religious reasons. She said "okay" and shut the window on me. NICE!!! read more

I used to love this coffee stop but something changed. Today when I ordered my usual ice mocha the girl came back with my drink and a five dollar charge. I pointed out the stand sign that said 4.50 and she said I had to put ice in it and that is 75 cents more which would make it 5.25. Even Starbucks does not charge me 5.00 for a 16 ounce iced drink.
