Red velvet cake, Heath bar crunch, Cookie Monster & cherry vanilla are just the tip of the iceberg. Whatever you choose, it's going to be loaded with ingredients & be some of the best ice cream you can find in the area. They also take pride in serving fresh waffle bowls/cones & mouth watering candies. Everything is homemade so you can taste the difference when you eat their chocolate. It's rich, creamy & super flavorful. Whether you get their fudge or some chocolate covered potato chips, it'll leave your mouth watering. We had ice cream cones, one with luscious toasty toasted coconut, and a vanilla with big sweet cherry pieces. The real headline here? Kooky Coconut makes a great Cuban Sandwich. We come here pretty often. We love their "Tampa" version: Roast pork is marinated in a traditional mojo sauce mainly of orange, lemon, lime, plenty of garlic, some mint and oregano. It's tender, a little sweet, and very flavorful. It's sliced thin and layered with ham, Genoa salami, and Swiss cheese. And the sandwich is pressed and crispy-toasted in fresh handmade Cuban bread. Very rich! They brag, and we agree. This was again delicious, and it's our go-to, and in part that's because their smaller 4.5-inch Cuban is only $7.25! You can get up to a 12-inch for $16. (Jan 2026). They have a variety of Cuban-sandwich spinoffs including an Island version with mojo-marinated meats and pesto sauce, a Chicken one and a Chicken & Pesto, and even a Reuben Cuban with corned-beef, sauerkraut, Swiss-cheese, & reuben-sauce! They make burgers, veggie-burgers, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, bowls, veggie versions of those, chips, guacamole, hot-dogs, and even crab-cakes! They have shakes and malt-flavored malteds, floats and smoothies, soft-drinks, beer & wine, hot-chocolate, espresso, coffee, decaf, affogato ice cream with espresso, almond-milk, coconut-milk, and good rich ice cream, sherbet, and sundaes, too, in around 20 flavors. When we went this time (Jan 2026), we ate at their umbrellaed tables where we could see the sunset sky. There's outdoor seating for around 45, indoor seating for maybe 8 more, and parking for about 8 cars for their customers. They don't have any extra parking for a walk on the beach, even if you bought something, so please don't do that to them. Don't worry. There is beach parking nearby, and there's a $5-per-day trolly between Clearwater Beach and St. Pete Beach that stops half-a-block away. Look for the bright sun symbol on a round blue sign. You could eat here under $12, every day for a month, and never get the same thing twice! And they have really nice staff making and serving all this delicious fare. We always make time for Kooky Coconut :-)

My fave ice cream here is Purple Haze - black raspberry with a black raspberry crinkle and dark chocolate raspberry cups. They did not have it though. He ordered us a dulce de leche and a red velvet scoop. Red velvet was better and dulce was too melted. They also have sorbets and milkshakes. The small scoop was quite big. I really wanted a kid's scoop which they don't offer. They gave him his scoops of ice cream and he came back quite quickly.

We decided on funnel cakes because it's rare to find them and of course they had a Dubai chocolate that sounded amazing so we got that also we got a Dubai chocolate brownie and a banana pudding funnel cake. It was Blue Bell brand, and it tasted fresh and not freezer burnt like a lot of other ice cream places. Third, the customer service was great. The employee at the counter wasn't very talkative, but he gladly answered my questions and let me try like 5 samples.
