They are so much more than caterers, and go above and beyond to make your day perfect and unique to you and your partner's vision. They were flexible and thoughtful in helping us replan our wedding several times as Covid came crashing into our 2020 plans. They practiced the safest levels of food prep and serving, working with us endless on creative solutions to still serve food in fun ways. After vetting SO many caters for our 150 person (original pre-covid) wedding, Huegah checked every single box that no other caterer could. Fit in our budget, had unique and delicious dishes, provided the plates, linens, etc, printed menus, traveled, adjusted to our tasting needs, and were prompt and professional at every single step. Throughout the year and a half of planning we asked for so many additional things - gold silverware, fancier wine glasses, signature cocktails, upscale plastic flutes for outdoor use, custom bar set up, decor setup in venue, high tops and more. Paul and Angie stood out from the rest from day one. They got to know us and helped guide us through the entire process. Our goal was to keep things fairly simple, but high-quality. They took our general ideas and crafted the perfect family-style menu for our wedding reception. The day of the wedding reception, Paul, Angie, and their team knocked it out of the park. At least a dozen guests told us this was by-far the best meal they'd ever had at a wedding reception, and a few even said it was one of the best meals they'd ever had - period. After receiving menus and information from countless other bland, similar wedding caterers in Chicago, we heard about Huegah. As people, Angie & Paul are warm, fun, talented, tasteful and cool. They are far more flexible than anyone else to whom we spoke, and understood and granted our wishes with ease. The food was beautiful, unique and delicious, and many of our guests said that it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. The main course was served family-style, which encouraged conversation among guests and allowed everyone to prepare their plate as they wished. (There was plenty of everything.) Paul and Angie went above and beyond to make our little wedding absolutely perfect. We needed catering, service, and bartending and only reached out about 3 weeks before the event, but Paul made it happen! We worked together on an awesome taco bar menu - mahi, steak, chicken, and veggie tacos, rice and beans, corn and tomato salad. He also did appetizers - the cutest mini tamales and mexican shrimp ceviche. He and his whole team arrived early to make sure set up was perfect, then stayed late to help us with some extra clean up. My fiancé and I were introduced to Huegah catering through family. From the very beginning, they were absolutely wonderful to work with. Shortly after being introduced, we got on a call to discuss the vision for our wedding and what we were looking for in terms of food. Something that really stood out to us was Huegah's care and attention to sourcing their food locally and seasonally. This was something that was really important to us and something that definitely sets them apart from other caterers we reached out to. They also made sure we knew that everything can be customized. Our entire wedding menu from the appetizers to the main dishes were all curated specifically for us. This made us feel so special! Huegah came into my building for lunch through Fooda. The food was delicious, but the portions were so small. I paid $10 for a bowl that was basically a small appetizer. I mean absolutely no one would be satisfied with this portion. I will not be going here again even though the food was good. I felt ripped off. read more

If you are taking the time to read this review, you have found your caterer. Trust me! The moment we hired Huegah to handle our wedding, we never looked back. The customer service and attentive communication we received was second to none. We never had to wait more than a few hours for a response from Paul or Angie on any email. Paul's calm demeanor kept me from becoming a Bridezilla and I had full trust in his abilities to run the show. He took our last-minute requests in stride and delivered everything exactly as promised - better, even. Leading up to the wedding, this was hugely important to us; as many other vendors were going MIA, we always trusted that Huegah was there for us. But let's not forget the FOOD. It was amazing!! We had our wedding tasting about 9 months before the wedding date and I could not stop dreaming about it. We wanted to hurry up and get married so we could eat everything all over again! It was important to us that the food at our wedding be delicious and Huegah blew our minds. Our guests raved about the melt-in-your-mouth short ribs, perfect chicken, and amazing appetizers. We heard from several friends and family members that the food at our wedding was better than any wedding dinner they have ever had. The event was several days ago now and I am still hearing comments about how good the food was! Everything tasted amazing and was presented beautifully. Angie and Paul catered our wedding 8/18/18 - it was a flawless, wonderful wedding night thanks to their support! Angie, Paul and their staff exceeded expectations - we highly recommend them. The food was amazing - it tasted as good if not better as when my husband and I went for the tasting (which had a kitchen onsite and our venue did not). Paul did a fantastic job with the chicken, pork, bread, salad, and side dishes. Guests are still bringing up the food and how delicious it was. We also hired their staff (bartenders, servers) and they were all professional and did a great job. Paul and Angie put a lot of thought into the event details and timeline and it showed! They are also very prompt via email/phone basically whenever you need something they make themselves available. First off, I have never been to a wedding that actually offered a filet mignon as an option for a guest, so needless to say, I was excited for dinner. I swear, the guests around me (and myself) just couldn't stop talking about how AMAZING that steak and polenta were! Each bite we said it again like it was our first bite. I mean, the wedding was 4 days ago and my brother texted me this morning from Arizona and brought up the polenta! I have never had blue cheese polenta like that in my life! I am not even exaggerating. Being a part of the bridal party, we were very busy so when those appetizers came around, they were devoured by all the guests! Those bacon wrapped dates...Oh lawd those were amazing. Another guest actually had come up to me suggesting I go find the waiter with them to try them immediately because they were so good. I have a nut and peanut allergy and when I brought that up to the waiter, he was quick to run back to verify I would not get any on any of the courses I wanted. Sometimes it can get annoying bringing up my allergy but he helped me with a big smile on his face and was so friendly and professional! Since I was in the bridal party, I was aware of all the research the bride was doing for a caterer and these companies were charging VERY high prices and they weren't even offering quality meat like a filet mignon! I think the bride and groom, along with EVERYONE at the wedding really enjoyed every aspect of it. It was a wedding to remember! You could hear the "ooo's" and "ahhh's" when guests walked into the venue. The tables looked amazing! Huegah catered my wedding in June and I honestly have no good reason why it's taken me so long to post this glowing review. On the one hand, I was nervous that my praise for Paul and Angie wouldn't do their efforts justice. On the other hand, what if I was *too* effusive? Would it be an overstatement to say that their level of care and comfort swept me back to a time when I was a wee babe, cradled in the maternal embrace of my loving mother? Yes, that's probably an overstatement, but you get the idea. Before I even had the pleasure of tasting his food, Paul's charm had me eager to work with him. (He's arguably more friendly than some of my actual friends.) After a couple of phone conversations, he came back to me with a menu pitch so inspired I became skeptical -- how is a person this friendly and imaginative going to deliver a meal that lives up to the hype? Spoiler alert: It did. The tasting blew us away, and we pulled the trigger right there: "Paul, you're our guy." In the subsequent months of typical anxiety and tedium associated with planning a wedding, Paul was a beacon of calm and charisma. Every time I spoke to him, wedding stress was diminished. Dude should be a therapist. Finally, on the big day, everything was executed superbly -- the food, the (hand-made!) displays, the tables, the staff. With Paul in the kitchen and Angie covering logistics, the catering of my wedding was care-free. Paul even personally saw to it that my wife and I had a chance to eat during the reception, for which I could have hugged him right there. Nearly three months later, our wedding guests are still complimenting the food. Many have told us they've never had food at a wedding be so delicious. The food was delicious, served right on time and well within our budget - we also got many kudos from our guests. I should also mention that there were a number of hiccups on our end the week prior to our event that Paul was able to handle with a cool head (which is more than I can say for myself). He also took extra time to meet with us twice before the event, exchanged many emails and was very gracious about our many suggestions, going out of his way to make sure we were happy with each and every menu item. By far the best wedding dinner I've ever had. The filet mignon was made to order. The blue cheese polenta was amazing! As much of a steak person that I am, and the steak was wonderful, the polenta was very memorable for me. The bacon wrapped dates were my favorite appetizer. Everything was served on-time and the service was outstanding. The venue was set up beautifully and ready before the bridal party arrived. I just wish I had eaten slower to savor the meal but it was soooo good. The chef was injured just days before the wedding and still showed up and had everything ready to go from a wheelchair! I have not seen a caterer do such an AMAZING job as this team did in ages!! Preparation and presentation were beautiful....but the food was unbelievable. The appetizers of bacon wrapped dates and ceviche were full of flavor and well balanced. Filets are rare occurrences in catering services nowadays (often one sees chicken and fish as an option) but these guys prepared a filet with the subtle sweetness and flavor that only could be stated as shear heaven! They weren't just caterers either, they were much more.....helping the wedding party prepare and breakdown the event. The actual floor team was friendly and engaging. Next time someone I know is looking for caterer recommendations....I will give them Huegah's contact info and website. My husband and I used Huegah to cater our June 2017 wedding in Evansville, IL. Our wedding location was about a 3 hour drive from where we lived and with our work schedules we were not able to make the drive to do a tasting before the big day. Most people would be a bit nervous making such a large commitment (the meal is a HUGE part of the big day, and often times one of the biggest expenses). To be honest, when we first reached out to caterers we felt that way too. However, Paul and Angie were an absolute DREAM to work with. They were insanely prompt via phone and email with answering any and all questions we had. Again, due to our work schedules, we had limited amount of time to chat via phone, but when we did, Paul was *on it* with the details. He asked us questions that really made us feel like he was catering OUR wedding, not just a wedding. He really wanted to make sure our food fit our vision. When we gave him the option of picking what he thought would work best with the rest of our menu, he hit it out of the park. I really cannot say enough good things about Paul, Angie and the staff they brought in for our wedding. Everyone was professional, cheerful, attentive, and generally nice to be around. We even threw a big wrench into the whole event when I found out I was pregnant 5 days before our wedding. We weren't ready to tell family & friends, but we told Paul and Angie. They discretely updated our menu right away. They even were able to grab some sparkling cider for me that visually matched the wine parings the rest of our guests were drinking during the meal. Paul and his crew are pros that deliver excellent food and service with a smile. They catered my wedding last weekend and they went above and beyond to make the night one to remember. Not only did they prepare and serve amazing food but they also helped with the set-up and tear-down of the room. Every single one of our 130 guests raved about the appetizers (bacon wrapped dates, grilled jumbo shrimp, ceviche, etc) that were passed around during our cocktail hour. When dinner was served, the raving did not stop. Everyone loved the filet mignon (done to order btw), blue cheese polenta, and glazed carrots. Everything was just perfect. I should also mention that Paul was running things on a wheelchair as he had recently broken his femur. I felt bad that he still showed up to work our wedding, but he did so with a smile and total dedication to making sure everything went smoothly. This is a follow up of my October 2013 review. Our wedding was last Saturday. As a recap, we'd had an amazing tasting with Huegah then and just hoped the actual event would be the same. From the very beginning I didn't wait more than a few hours to get a response from Paul for ANYTHING. I promise you, you will never get that kind of communication from any other wedding vendor. I am such a stingy reviewer and for me 5 star reviews are exceedingly rare but Huegah deserved more than 5 stars. Further, they beat all the other "big" wedding caterers in town in price, product, responsiveness and communication. I was quoted way more from all of the "big" caterers I priced out and they were for family-style, chicken. HELL.NO. Paul gave us quality filet mignon for less with amazing service. From start to finish, they were pros and went out of their way, in every way, to make our event a success. We had about 135 guests at Kitchen Chicago. I would also be remiss if I didn't say that Paul accomplished this feat though he had BROKEN HIS FEMUR 10 days before our wedding and orchestrated my reception IN A WHEELCHAIR. When the man and I arrived at the venue, with the help of Paul and his staff, the venue was completely set up and looked BEAUTIFUL. This was amazing in light of the fact that I had a crazy amount of boxes with elements that needed to be set up on the tables: tablecloths, sequin runners, vases, wine bottles, candles, menus, table numbers, brass cups with flowers. Their staff looked and acted like pros, all were courteous, fast and dressed in all-black. The apps were delicious and abundant. People raved about the bacon wrapped dates, ceviche, shrimp. Dinner was on time despite the fact that everyone got their steak done TO ORDER, no gross medium-well by fiat for everyone. The sides: glazed carrots and blue cheese polenta were sinful. Everyone loved the food. Many said it was the best food they've had at a wedding. They stuck around late into the night to make sure my mountain of decor was put away and all the dishes and glassware were washed and neatly boxed. Did I mention Paul was in a wheelchair the whole time, hustling to make our event a success?? I just cannot recommend anyone more for your wedding than Huegah. My husband and I were just so happy with the job they did, the food, the service, all of it. Huegah was outstanding, OUTSTANDING. Honestly, I just can't rave enough about them.
