From the website, I was led to believe that Hudson's House was a swanky, maybe a tad poncy affair. It wasn't.
It was actually more of a laidback pub vibe, tucked away amid the folds of St. Giles Hotel. Service was very friendly and attentive, the food so so.
I'd, perhaps naively, assumed my £9.50 tuna salad would be fresh fish. It was in fact tinned, and I'm not a big fan. The sweet potato fries were lush, though - crispy, sweet and plentiful.
Although it looked excellent, my friend's burger was chewy. Desserts, however, redeemed the meal, and we both enjoyed our brownie and fruit tart respectively.
With a Taste Card the place is an absolute bargain. Without one, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. Still, it's relaxed and friendly so you could do a lot worse. read more
