I have been going to the veterinarians at Hudson Veterinary Hospital since I moved to Ossining in 2014. At first they cared for my cats, then cat and puppy, and now one cat and two dogs. The vets have been invariably informative, kind, and gracious with their time. Both my dogs are enrolled in the annual "package" which covers their basic vet costs for a year and has some discounts built in, which is nice because foe basic maintenance care I pay once and then can go as many times as I need throughout the year. My cat is older and so I pay as I go for her, and besides she's less likely to need to go to the vet because she decided to eat a washcloth (true example. Puppy was fine.) I also board my dogs when needed there, and I elect to have them do 1/2 day group doggy play while they are there. This helps keep them socialized and it's like a little vacation for them as well. I feel better knowing they are not in a cage all day, and they get lots of walks. There is someone on staff there 24/7. I consider them a trusted partner in my animals' care and would recommend them to anyone. My outgoing social dog thinks everyone at Hudson is her personal friend. The more shy one is into the free treats. read more

I'm happy that they are closed. My dog went there for 3 years and they never tested his blood work. When he started to decline and needed emergency medical care, we went to the facility that they recommended. They did an ultrasound and found out that my dog had cancer in his liver. He had just had tests done at Hudson vet and they gave him medications to reduce his liver inzymes but that was it, it was way too late, my dog was close to death. The vet should have informed me that my dog was dying. The emergency vet clinic wanted over $7000 dollars and said that his treatments might not work. I called Hudson vet the next day and was told that the Dr. was too busy to see my dog but would have a discussion with me. It was a waste of time! My dog died a few days later, what vet refuses to see a dog who is close to death?? She knew all along that my dog was going to die and she said nothing to me, made no recomendations other than medication that he wouldn't take because he was too advanced. This hospital was the worst that I ever experienced! I am happy that the doors are locked! Take you pet to the croton animal hospital and you will receive expert care! read more

Had to leave on an emergency trip and needed to board my pup. Found this place and it was a terrible decision. Extremely rude lady at the front desk. Paid for two nights, a grooming / bath and nail clipping and two overpriced vaccinations. When i picked up my dog, he smelled terrible, was extremely skiddish and his nails Certainly weren't even touched. For over a week after his stay, our dog refused to eat and was extremely lethargic. Have no Idea what went on during his stay but it was clearly not a good stay for him along with paying for a bath/grooming that probably wasn't even done. I recently moved to the area, and I took my new kitten to Hudson Valley, with a load of questions, and they were very helpful and responsive. Great answers, and perfect service. Also, the price was an extremely good-deal (based upon other vets I have used in the past), so was pleasantly surprised. I will be taking all my cat-vet issues there in the future. read more

The woman who just called me was quite condescending. We changed our appointment time FOR THEM last minute from 11:30 to 11 bc the vet was going on vacation- and bc we were 10 minutes late and arrived at 11:10 - this woman on the phone decided to berate us that we were late and the doctor wouldn't see us beyond a 5 minute grace period and that the doctor was LEAVING now- when we were sitting in their parking lot. This is all fine - we are pragmatic people who can understand the rules (even though no one told us about this 5 minute grace period and WE made accommodations FOR THEM to get there at 11-note: this appointment was booked WEEKS earlier and they called us THIS week to change the time for the vet's vacation) but THE WAY woman started the call with "apparently you had an appointment but the doctor won't see you now bc she's leaving...threw in some snide laughs and ended the call with I'm ending the call now." I've never been so turned off by someone without having met them. Take your pets to a place that respects their customers...not here. Their bedside manner is trash. read more

Absolute worst experience from Vet McGlinn!! Been there for several years never met her & when my daughter dropped off our 8 pound puppy for a dental issue....the Vet without my consent took it upon herself to extract 13 teeth!!! She practically mutilated my poor dog!!! Her awful disclaimer was that she left a voice mail, never bothered to even speak with me!!! Will be filing charges with NYS Vet licensing ...worst experience for my entire family! read more

We absolutely love this vet office! Thank goodness we found them. Our puppy Imogene has Entropion, an eye condition that needed tacking along with a surgical procedure. It has been months of being careful, patient and informed, and Hudson Vet has helped us through it all. We have one more week until Imogene's stitches can come out and she seems to be healing beautifully! Hudson Vet is always available to answer our questions or concerns, and they also call to check in often. It's really nice to know we are in good hands. Friendly and helpful staff as well! It's difficult to sum up the professionalism, courtesy and phenomenal customer service that the Hudson Veterinary Hospital displayed today. Long story short - I was in a real bind trying to find last minute daycare for my dog. After being turned away by half dozen sitters and services (even after explaining my bind...) David and Chelsea at HVH said, "come on in, we'll help, no problem." And did they ever. Cannot offer enough praise and thanks to them. read more

My cat ingested string and the vet instructed me to induce vomiting by giving hydrogen peroxide until he vomitted, well he vomitted eventually and wouldnt stop vomitting. He had to be admitted to the ER. I chose to go to Latham and not bring him to Hudson Vet Hospital. The ER/Critical Care Physician at Capital DIstrict Dr. Smith told me that hydrogen peroxide could be fatal to cats. $2500 later and an overnite stay at the hospital, and four medications for over a week, including one for Pneumonia and my cat is finally better. To say I received poor medical advise from Hudson Veterinary Hospital is an understatement. read more

My dog went to hudson vet clinic for over 3 years. He was old and started to decline. I knew that he had a urinary tract infection so took him there. They took blood work and 2 days later informed me that he has high liver enzymes. That night, he became very fatigued so I took him to the emergency vet clinic that their phone line connects you to. The emergency vet clinic took blood from my dog even though he has already had it. They put a catheter in his arm. They then did an ultrasound and said he has liver cancer. They then put me in a room where they euhinize animals and someone came in to tell me he was there to discuss cremation for my dog. No one discussed a treatment plan with me until I asked for it. They told me there was no guarntee they could keep my dog alive but would treat him for 48 hours at the cost of $8,000. At that point, I did not feel comfortable with them treating my dog so I took him home. I believed that they would kill my dog and take my money and not treat him at all. I called Hudson Vet the next day and wanted them to follow up with my dog. I was told the Vet had back/back sessions and would not be able to see him even though this was a life/death situation. I demanded to talk to the vet. She provided me with no advice and did not even recommend pain medications. She had me pay $160 in liver medications which I was told by the emergency clinic would not work. They did not work. My dog died two days later. I religiously took my dog there for his yearly exams and they never did proper blood work to determine that his liver was not functioning properly. MY dog also had jaundice which they never discovered. I went to hudson vet 2 months before to inquire about an eye infection my dog was having. They never examined his eyes. They just prescribed medication that did not work. The emergency vet clinic informed my that my dog had glioma in his eye. He could not see, out of one of his eyes. No eye exam was performed at Hudson vet. I don't know what kind of yearly exams they do, but they should have noticed the large numbers of cancerous cells running though my dogs body through blood work. I don't believe they performed any work. They take the pets in a room in the back and owners are not allowed to go. I don't think they gave my dog a shot for the urinary tract infection he had and they knew, he was too advanced for the medications to work but took my money. My dog died 3 days later. I called to inform them and was told they were sorry and did I want information on his blood work. I was not asked, do you need assistance having him cremated? NOTHING! I had already made arrangements for my dog to be buried at the pet cemetary but they never asked if I needed assistance with his remains. The front desk staff is horrible, I check my bill before I pay because they will over charge you. Most importantly, I blame them for the death of my beloved dog because they never did a full exam on him including blood work. I trusted them and was not present when they examined him. My other dog goes there too. She can go to their for boarding but never again for medical treatment. I will never trust them medically with another animal of mine. In fact, after my dog left the emergency clinic, I requested an appointment with them. This was life and death and they informed me that the vet was too busy to see my dog. When I got there, no one else was in the waiting room other than me. No cars in the parking lot so she was not double booked like I was informed. I had a conversation with her and she provided no other treatment options for my dying dog. No pain meds, only meds that would not help him in his advance stage of cancer. Maybe I will let my other dog go there for boarding but for any medical treatments NEVER AGAIN! I learned the hard way, and my dog would still be here with me if he received proper care and blood work during his yearly exams. read more

My puppy had been in desperate need of some playtime with other pups, but after having a bad experience at a different daycare place, I was afraid to bring him anywhere. I tried Hudson Vet on a whim and hoped for the best, and am so thrilled to say that in just a few weeks, my pup went from being scared to walk in the door to begging me to get in the car and running FROM me to go play with his pals! I bring him one or two days a week and the staff always treats him like royalty, and I feel comforted to know that he's in good hands while he gets some exercise and socialization. I'm so appreciative of everyone here and how they care for the pets. read more

I normally would only write about food places but since I love my cat I had to write about his new vet. I needed to take my cat for his annual visit and since I moved I needed a new vet. I asked around and plenty of people said the Hudson Veterinary Hospital was good. So I made an appointment, that was fast to do. Got there on time and was taken in fast. The vet was cool, as was the staff. I am happy with my selection and so was my cat, he was not scared as usual. read more

Had a great first visit for my cats. The technicians were very friendly, patient and knowledgeable as was the doctor. The facility was clean and well maintained. Yesterday was my first time visiting Dr. Klainbard, I brought my cat, Tiggy, there in an emergency. We didn't have an appointment and Tigg wasn't a patient (until yesterday). The woman at the front deck was unsympathetic and a little rude, telling me I should "make an appointment in the future." Sorry, next time I think my cat is going to have a stroke (he didn't, thank god) I'll make an appointment. I have to agree with the review below that first impressions DO make a difference. If this weren't an emergency, I probably would have found another vet. But, Dr. Klainbard made up for it! He saw us right away, diagnosed my baby and walked us through the steps of Tiggs recovery. He was very accommodating. Overall, a very pleasant experience as far as emergencies go. *update* Unfortunately my baby Tiggy is no longer with us. Over seven months and many rounds of medication I made the decision to do right by him. Dr. Klainbard worked closely with me the whole way and really helped me out in multiple ways. He is an extraordinary vet. However, he ***NO LONGER WORKS HERE*** He is now working at the Millwood Animal Hospital on Rt. 100. I will be following him there! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS VET! In over thirty years of taking my dogs and cats to vets, none have ever been so incompetent. Appointments are cancelled with an hour's notice. Vaccinations left my dog in so much pain she couldn't walk on her right hind leg for 12 hours. No follow up calls expressing concern were made. My cat was diagnosed with a mass that wasn't there. A diagnosis of a swollen ear drum could not have been made because the ear drum was obscured by puss or a polyp. Tests were run that were not necessary. Tests that were necessary were not undertaken. Truly the worst vet I have ever had the misfortune of using. read more

We boarded our dog for 12 days; he is an older dog with diabetes and mostly blind, requiring special diet and insulin shots twice daily. He was well cared for, given needed vaccinations and blood tests during his stay. The facility is modern and sparkling clean, the staff well trained, very friendly and caring. Dr. Margolis is a very experienced and knowledgeable vet. They also did a superb grooming and our dog looked healthy, happy, and clean when we picked him up. The fees charged for all services and boarding were very reasonable. We were happy with the care and costs at this beautiful facility. read more

We were very pleased with the care our cat had at this clinic. We moved to another State and miss them. They were super diligent in treating my cat with urinary tract disease and acted really fast when we had an emergency with him. All is good now and our cat is a happy and healthy and it's been over a year after the incident. read more

My almost 12 yr.old pitbull had been receiving treatment for different health issues at this hospital. He was seen by three different vets there, but his preference was Dr. Christopher. She is a wonderful professional , very calm and caring person and unlike other vets she never showed she was afraid of him. She could check him out, give him shots without the need of a muzzle. He was diagnosed with lymphoma this summer. One Friday morning, about a month later, he woke up with a big lump on his body that within 2 hours was double the size and extended all the way down to his paw. He was in distress and he couldn't walk. We decided to stop his suffering and put him to sleep. I called the HV Hospital and found out Dr. Cristopher was out of the country. Spoke with Dr D'Agnese who told me they were busy and that we would have to wait until the following Monday, meanwhile we should increase the medication he was taking at the time. We were devastated with the lack of compassion demonstrated by this vet. I then called the Croton-on-Hudson Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Hoskins with his assistant came to our house two hours later checked him out and ended his suffering. It is still difficult for me how a vet can be so cruel.... read more

Our two cats get their regular care here and the doctors and assistants have all been great over the years. We were away this summer with the cats and one of them had some issues. The local vet asked me to get the folks at Hudson Vet to fax up a health history for the sick cat. I called Hudson Vet and they were really helpful, faxing up the information that morning so the local vet had her history on hand when they treated her. We've never boarded or had animals groomed there, so I can't speak to those services. Health care for our cats has been great, though. read more

My dog recently stayed here for a week. When I called to ask about how she was doing, they knew exactly who Lucy was and told me all about her visit so far. She was taken outside several times a day. They also let the boarded dogs play with the daycare dogs as long as they pass a temperament test- Unfortunately, Lucy doesn't get along well with high energy dogs so she just got attention from the staff all week. They said I should bring her by when some of the calmer regular dogs are there and she could have a test with them- I really appreciated that. read more

They've done it again! This establishment and it's staff are AMAZING. They did their best to accommodate my babies grooming services due to recently expired vaccinations which were not up to date on their end. They were very patient with me trying to get the information over to them and once we figured out the vaccinations they stayed in touch with me even after I left the hospital, reassuring me that both my babies were doing just fine after being vaccinated and were going forward with the grooming. (Hospital is upstairs-Vet and Grooming is a level below) So convenient! Thank you guys so so so much for understanding and doing your best at assisting us. This in not a veterinary hospital really... it is more like an extended family. I have multiple animals in my family, including a blind, grumpy 14 year old dog. The veterinarians, techs and staff have gone so far out of their way through the years... to the point that I have received calls checking on my dog after hours... and once they even dropped off medicine in my mailbox when I couldnt get there. Bailey and the grooming staff know my dogs well and always remember the special treatment that they need. They are truly animal lovers and wonderful people in general. I cant say enough good things about this practice. My only critique is that they dont take humans as patients. read more

We took our cat Angel to Hudson Veterinary Hospital to get her claws trimmed. We were a little unhappy with our previous vet and thought this would be a good way to get to know a new Vet and see if they would be a good fit for us. The answer is a resounding "YES". Angel seemed to enjoy her mani/pedi (as much as any cat could!) and Dr. Kleinbard took time out of his busy schedule to meet with us, answering our many questions (in detail). We were very impressed and will definitely be bringing Angel back for her annual check up. The tech who cut Angel's nails was helpful and friendly and the receptionist was also helpful and friendly . The office was fresh and inviting. There was plenty of good parking and I noted that they also do dog grooming -- which I'm sure is equally as impressive as everything else we experienced there. First Impressions Do Count/ Shop Arround. The importance of having a good "people person" at the front desk should never be under estimated. This person represents your business and is a direct reflection of the level of services. Well in record time I was left with an impression, a poor one! She was argumentative and rude. Perhaps it was a busy day and she was overwhelmed? Nope! I was the only person in the office. When I asked for a receipt, somehow she wasn't able to provide one, however when I sent a request for recipt via email, her response was that I could pick it up. No, she was NOT going to email it to me, I HAD to come to the office again. Passive aggressive behavior here? OK on to the Vet. he made a point of informing me that he was doing an exam on my pet which was purchased from a Shelter. for no pay. However he IS listed as a participating Vet from the Shelter meaning that if more than an exam is needed, the costs aren't incurred by those who adopted the pet.A good policy which prevents those who adopted a pet from returning it if something is wrong with the animal. This is beneficial for the Vet as satisfied pet owners will return if the first visit goes well. Perhaps even take their other pets to the same place? In summary, educated consumers need to keep in mind that Veteran practices aren't regulated anywhere near the level of Health Care for us humans. We must also remember that there are literary millions of pets so there is more than enough costumers for each Vet to incur a highly profitable income. Want to suit a Vet? Good Luck! In most cases the amount of money one will receive is the replacement value of the dog or cat. That amount is but a very small fraction of the value Pet Owners place on their cats and dogs. My advice to to shop around and listen to word of mouth. read more

I talked to the owner of Hudson Veterinary Hospital in Ossining today about the haircut my dog received there (at the Groom Room). His response was that because a service was rendered (regardless of if it was what I asked for) he would not be considering a refund and "deserved" to get paid. I guess if they painted my dog orange a service would have been rendered as well. I wonder how much that would cost. Stay away from the Groom Room and find a more responsible place to bring your pet. read more

I'm not sure why Yelp has filtered all the good reviews and are only showing the negative ones. But I can honestly say that this Vet is amazing. The only reason I found them in the first place was because I needed a vet to board my cat over Thanksgiving after being diagnosed with FLUTD. When I took him in to board, I personally met with the vet, he wanted to meet Chase (my cat) and wanted to go over all of his meds. Not only that, but he asked me questions (so he would know in case of emergency) that my other vet had not told me. He ended calling my then primary vet, to get the results of a urinalysis and actually found out the type of crystals my cat had were dissolvable. The other vet had not told me this, I was told that he would be in pain and we could only manage it for the rest of his life. This vet, went above and beyond my expectation just for a cat he was boarding. Needless to say, I've switched vets and they have been more than helpful along every hurdle I have come across with my cat and his condition. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone! read more
