I had requested $1,500, less than half of what I paid, simply as a fair resolution for renting a defective unit. Despite repeated polite attempts to resolve this matter, they refused. I'm filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the New York Attorney General's Consumer Frauds Bureau, and the Federal Trade Commission, and I am preparing to file a small-claims court case. I also discovered that other customers have reported similar issues with MI-BOX containers and moisture damage, which tells me this is not an isolated case. MI-BOX cannot continue renting out units that often fail to protect customer property while hiding behind legal disclaimers. I'm sharing my experience so other consumers can make an informed decision before trusting MI-BOX Tri-State in West Haverstraw with their belongings. They have us in writing a written quote as we moved our life and all our belongings to California. They originally guarantee a 7 day notice window to deliver your stuff, then I get a call on Saturday night that they are coming Sunday with no notice, and that was the beginning of the worst to come. They would not accommodate coming on Monday unless I paid an additional $1,000.00 after 19 plus text messages from the so called owner they agreed to deliver on Monday and sent me a final balance so I can have a certified check ready. When the truck arrived on Monday they changed the balance again and threatened to not give us our belongings unless we paid another $500.00 Under distress I agreed to pay the $500.00 on credit card which the owner swore hen would refund but never did. They clearly take advantage of people during a stressful time in our life as we have so many things to handle your not prepared to be ripped off by people who are holding your life belongings hostage. Some years back I had to put an apartment full of stuff (including several hundred books) into storage, pronto, and a friend who kept some of her belongings there suggested Vernon, for which I am extremely grateful. The storage units are large and secure, and I was able to fit everything into one unit. It was just about the only thing that worked well at a crummy time. I've kept the unit for the past four years, with no problems at all. The rates are great and the people who work there are really nice and friendly. It's month-to-month, so at some point when I need all that stuff again, I can go and get it, without breaking a contract and paying a fee. That's handy, too.

Like I said in the previous review; it's like they were moving their own furniture. One of their truck's is across the street, moving someone out of the complex. It's not unusual to see someone moving; most of the time it's with U-Haul. I'm watching the movers bringing the people's furniture out of the building. Everything seems to be wrapped in plastic to keep it from getting wet and damaged. The guys are working fast. I don't know the family. I do know they'll be happy with the service they get from Triangle Movers. I hope they do a Yelp review.

They gave one excuse after another.
