We also split the Dutch baby pancake. Everything was AMAZING! We ended up getting 2 biscuit and gravy orders to go because the sausage gravy was so good. The owner offered for us to taste the seafood chowder special and it was also so yummy. I'm regretting not getting that to go as well but I was just way too full to think of ordering anything else. They were a bit short staffed but we never felt ignored and the owner was also helping with the serving. Its always nice to see instead of just leaving the servers to flounder on a busy day. Prices were very reasonable and I can't wait to go back. I would definitely say its the best breakfast I've had on the island and probably the best breakfast I've had in years in Jax. You won't regret going.

The real special days are when there are cinnamon rolls, these are always my favorite! I wish they'd make them a regular item. As for the service, I believe the owner works the window sometimes and he's always very friendly and personable. The inside is super calm and worship music plays throughout the shop, the drive thru is my go to on busy mornings. Note: There's a rooster who hangs out at the neighboring fields surrounding the shop (his name is Cletus), it just makes the trip to grab coffee and donuts a little more memorable. If you're thinking of stopping by you definitely should, but get there early because you don't want to miss out!

Parking was interesting- there is some construction on the road where this little cafe is located, so we had to park about a block away. Street parking in Fernandina is so much fun! *sarcasm* When I saw the quiches listed on the menu board I knew I was in for a treat! I mean- the family/owners shirts were all about that quiche, bout that quiche, bout that quiche! I got the Spinach, leek & goat cheese, a customer favorite. John went with a breakfast sandwich- he wasn't super hungry and was trying for something small. Coffee was good, the quiche was fabulous and John devoured his breakfast saying something yummy about the bacon! lol. The vibe was relaxed, mostly locals who knew everyone else. The hostess brought us water and then the server was over to us promptly and was attentive and friendly. The breakfast was superb, especially the eggs and the pancake we shared. I was also amused by the artwork at the table we sat at. The only negative was the room temperature and the butter. Not enough to deduct a full star, it was a bit nippy in the restaurant, and the butter would be better served at room temperature. We'll definitely have this establishment in the breakfast rotation.

Our server was kind, but not overly friendly (I don't want a performance, you know?). And our food came out maybe 10 minutes after we ordered. We were early enough to order the Sunrise Special and the egg portions seemed surprisingly large! The grits were lovely. The bacon was not the best, it's thin cut (reminiscent of microwave bacon) and I prefer it to be thick. I ordered the eggs Benedict and really enjoyed it. The hollandaise could have had a touch more seasoning, but the texture was great. I actually preferred the Canadian bacon that came on it than the regular bacon that came with the Sunrise Special. It was perfectly salty and crisp. Oh! And it came with crab meat on it which was a special twist I didn't expect but really appreciated. The potatoes are cut into large chunks, but they are well seasoned and cooked nicely. I can't stand when a potato is undercooked, but this place didn't have that problem. And the cherry on top was the water. Florida locals may not be bothered by the ocean-y taste that comes with their drinking water, but for our family it is something that's hard to get past. We were pleasantly surprised to find that this water tasted as if it was filtered and the ice is that soft kind that's pleasant to chew. This might seem like a silly thing to add, but it really stood out to me and I'm grateful for it.

My food got cold while I waited for syrup, we didn't receive napkins until after we were finished eating, and our appetizer was completely forgotten. Julia, the hostess, was the saving grace. She brought us boxes, removed the forgotten appetizer from the check, and even tried to track down our server, though he still never came back. What makes this even more disappointing is that I had recommended this place to visitors. A quick brunch turned into a two‑hour struggle meal, and I truly wish I hadn't suggested it. Ambience is cute, but doesn't make up for the service.

Unfortunately we picked a day where 2 cooks and 1 server all called in sick so we had to wait about 40 minutes for our food. Note- This review does not reflect this wait time, only the food and prices. When the food finally arrived it was just sub par and also had me questioning the high prices. I ordered the chicken caesar wrap with a side of the deviled egg potato salad and an additional side of the cheddar mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was $5.99. $5.99 for no more than 3 ounces of sub par mac and cheese. They are making a killing on their side dish prices. Kraft mac and cheese would have been better and 1/6th the price. The wrap was average at best. The workers were working hard for being understaffed, I will give them that. We really have no desire to come to a Bantam and Biddy again if we are in the area.
