I went on a Saturday morning and by 9am it looks like there was a small wait. There's no waiting area so some were standing outside. I can't imagine it was more then a 5-10 min wait. The parking lot is also not very big. We were told to sit at any open table upon arrival. Service was quick. Food took less then 10 min to arrive after ordering and both looked and tasted good. Prices were about $13/plate. A bit high for me but the portions were large enough to feel full. They do have a $6 meal menu and a rewards program. I attached the $6 menu since it wasn't given to us until I noticed it and asked to see a copy. I'd probably be back but not regularly as I didn't think the value is there for the price. I would have expected even in the inflation Era to pay about 10-11 for what I got. Also I can't confirm this (left receipt there) but there may have been a service charge for about $0.84 added to a $30 subtotal. read more

Not a fan, I recall when Huddle House was in Callahan and with each visit then it was just Ok. It has been more than 10 years since my visit and thought we give this one a shot. The menu items look appealing, far from what comes out to the table. I ordered the Smokehouse, what a major disappointment, the loaded hash browns were under cooked soggy and blah, biscuits and gray ...what train wreck. The gravy tastes like it came out of a can, biscuits were less than appealing and also at a weird taste. Prime Rib Omelette, good googly moogly!!! When are you supposed to cook prime rib to well done?!?! Please at least watch the Food Network if you're not going to offer food prep & training. Service was spot on. The customer service was horrible. The lady looked at my order multiple times asked me my name. Ask me who I ordered through. I told her I'm not too sure. I think Uber eats. It was through Instacart and I tell her my name once again she proceeds to tell me my name looks like Crystal and tells me that I still have to wait on an order that Instacart told me had been ready since 9:07 AM mind you at this point it is after 9:30 and she is telling me I have to wait. she then proceeds to serve everybody else their food who was in the restaurant as I am watching my order just sit there looking cold. She then grabs another young lady and tell them that they need to bag the orders once again I'm just sitting there looking at my order not great customer service only towards the one she already had a personal relationship with I will not be eating back at this restaurant due to that woman's customer service. The other young lady who bagged my order was just fine. She was no issue, but the short burgundy, red hair lady horrible customer service it's time for her to retire and find something else to do and stop playing favoritism. read more

I ordered ahead and showed up when it told me to. I could see my food on the counter but the only person to address me insisted I sign the waitlist for a table and stand outside. After telling her I am just here to pick up, she told me it will be a minute. Ten minutes later I finally get someone's attention and had to interrupt them to tell them my food is sitting right there and is already paid. I live less than ten minutes away from home, by the time I get there, all of it is barely luke warm. I wasn't expecting it to be fresh and hot, but almost cold is unacceptable. The food is served fast and hot to your specific order, the drinks are always refilled promptly with Sam's neverending smile and with a "To Go" cup at the end of the meal. Hospitality at its finest. Best comfort food! Open 24/7 great food, great staff, membership gets you coupons by email (which you need to print and bring with you). Check out their T-shirts. The one I purchased reads "You're Bacon Me Crazy" (See pic). Not my first huddle. I have had the Huddleburger, the Philly cheese steak omelette, and the Patty Melt. Not many quality places where you can get breakfast anytime. Just knowing this warms my stomach. Kids menu, desserts, specialty beverages, southern biscuit platters, breakfast,lunch and dinner platters, yeah buddy! This evening we were lucky to have as our server Mary who was excellent in making all of our food to order. In addition she was friendly and we had a great conversation with her. Four stars because the cheeseburger had no flavor. They use frozen patties, and while it's my issue ordering a burger at a breakfast place, it's on the menu, so some spices would have been nice (salt, pepper, etc...) Looking around there was ONE cook individually making each order...OMG. You'd think they would figure out how to get two cooks on the grill area...come in! We waited and it let us see the local clientele-50% no masks and truthfully the servers too; I guess they just don't take this virus serious. Breakfast platters were big, lots of food and $9.50-$14 so no less $ then any restaurants breakfast who have to be much quicker! I only wanted 1 pancake and two over medium eggs snd our friendly servers suggested my husband platter, get the pancake (he also had hash browns and biscuit with eggs and burnt sausage) so I wasn't worried he wouldn't get enough and I'd get two eggs as side for $1 ea. Perfect though it didn't show as a side for egg or pancake/waffle you could order...whatever. Not sure how anyone would know. The pancake was ok..just not that flavorful, eggs perfect. FERNANDINA Huddle House is a very dirty and unfriendly restaurant! . We Walked in and all tables that were available were not clean. Had crumbs and water all over them. We waited 10 minutes standing by a table as we didn't want to sit where someone else had just eaten. Since no one was coming over, and no one said "just a minute" or anything at all to us, we asked the waitress if she could wipe the table down. We were shocked when the older waitress replied that she was "too busy". Not "ok in a minute", not "sorry". But we said "ok" and still waited. Then she filled glasses for others with water and chatted with other tables! She brought a check to another table. We waited another 5 minutes. A young waitress directly across from us stared at us standing and we asked again for the table to be cleaned. She simply said " well nobody is available". No apology, no caring about our waiting. We stood there another 7 minutes and observed every person behind the counter staring at us with nobody caring. While we were waiting we saw the girl who was making waffles actually peel one off the grill with her hands and no gloves, then place it on a plate again with no gloves. After that we decided to leave as the attitudes of all of the staff were just rude and they did not care about sanitary practices. So we left knowing we'd be waiting for the food as long or longer as we waited for the table. BUT the older waitress DID end up cleaning the table - as we were pulling OUT of the parking lot! Right in front of the window to show us! So rude. So obnoxious. We used to like the place but will NEVER go there again. If you eat there you are risking your health! read more

Ok, I know it's a greasy-spoon type chain and am really not expecting much. I've only been here twice of all the years that I visit my sister and her husband in Fernandina Beach. We went today and waited for over an hour for our food. No, I am not exaggerating. I believe it's an off day as far as how long it took because certainly, they would not still in business if the hour wait is a usual thing. Granted, the restaurant was busy and every table occupied, but that was still quite a long wait by any standard. At the half hour mark, we contemplated on paying for coffee and just leave. But we were hungry and felt we've already invested in a good amount of time, plus we were chit chatting, keeping ourselves entertained. At 45 min mark, my sister finally asked the server, who responded that 'we were next'. And about 10 min after, we did get our food. The good news was, the food was not bad or as expected for this type of establishment. The service was friendly, but I guess they were under-staffed that we had to flag down the server for refills. How do you mess up blueberry pancakes..the blueberries were crunchy, the scrambled eggs were rubbery I didn't even get coffee. Got the smothered chicken platter. Every mans "go-to" chain greasy spoon. The quality of food is as expected from a low priced, fast food-ish diner. I remember the good old days when Huddle House was amazing! Now a days the quality of ingredients and the attention to detail has really taken a nosedive. This is one of the only locations open late (after 9pm) that's easy & close from Amelia Island. The service is often whimsical, it's like a box of chocolates- you never know what you are gonna get ... But it's always interesting. Our server informed us she was celebrating her birthday & shared her general life story, making our experience interesting. She checked on us often, was pleasant and cheery. One of the nuances of eating at Huddle House is the interesting characters you may encounter, the stories you may hear, and the many menu options made available. If you are lucky & the cook isn't overwhelmed you can enjoy ordering off menu and create your own Huddle Platter. On our last visit the diner was fairly clean, as tables & menus were wiped down; however the location could use a good deep cleaning & degreasing. read more
