They purposely steer you to the buffet with their menu prices. When A La Carte prices are; fruit is $21 and an omelette is $31 you're of course going to go to the $34 buffet which has all you can eat of both those items and more. I was hoping for some sort of light breakfast like fruit because I was in a hurry and didn't know if I'd be able to take anything with me when I had an appointment with someone in about 30 minutes. The only thing that seemed appropriate would've been a few of the items at the buffet, but since I knew I couldn't eat much and didn't have time to pick at it over a longer period of time, I asked if there was a child's portion price or something instead of the $30 regular price because they didn't have any options that would work for me on the menu. I even have proof from my doctor that I usually order from a child's menu for medical reasons. He asked his manager and they said no. He allowed me to order a child's meal off the menu and there was nothing there that would've been a lighter breakfast like fruit, so I ordered the seaside biscuit. In the description on the menu, it said it was a biscuit with over-hard egg and sausage and cheese with potatoes. I assumed that would be a better choice than the waffles or pancakes that were the other options. It took more like 20 minutes to get the food and left me with three minutes to eat, so I asked the kid that brought me the meal for to go container because I had to leave and did not have time to eat. When I was packing it up, I took a bite of each thing just to get something to eat and the egg was not hard cooked; it was full runny and very peppery, which I found strange to be in a kids meal! The biscuit was tough and I just threw out, I found the sausage to be pretty spicy; especially for a child, but the potatoes were the only thing that I actually liked. Fortunately, I was able to take the box with me to my meeting. That meal was $14 and made me think it would've been worth the $30 for the buffet even just to have gotten some fruit that I would've enjoyed and had time to eat over that disaster. The best thing about that whole visit was, I chose to sit outside with the amazing view of the ocean while I waited all that time for food I couldn't even eat besides the potatoes eventually. read more

I am picky about my coffee, and this place had the best coffee I have ever had. The buffet was for special occasions. This was Mother's Day, and it did not disappoint. The omelette station was top. The sausage was overcooked (not burnt), but they had Gritts (I loved) and pancakes (that my wife loved). As a brunch, they had a carving station. The choices were prime rib and lamb. The prime rib was good. The lamb was ok. To top it off, the dessert bar was something else. My wife got a pistachio thing that looked like a key lime tart, along with some bread pudding. I couldn't find the bread pudding, but did find the best strawberry shortcake I have had. I put fresh blueberries on it. Top choice. We had an outdoor seat, so we could see the ocean. We had a spot under the shade, and the breeze was just right (not too much, not too little). Some families had children who were excited, but any noise didn't bother us. It was great. I kept dropping my silverware between our tables, and they were always there to replace them. They do not accept cash, so only come if you can pay be credit card. I tip 10% at buffets, but my wife liked the service so much, she asked me to double it and even offered to pay the extra. I just gave the lady the extra. read more

Sunrise Cafe, located at Omni Amelia Island. Definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots at Omni Resort. They open as early as 6:30 am. My husband and I went here twice when we stayed at Omni 2 weeks ago. Located at the other building of Omni but the walk is not too bad. Sunrise cafe offers a variety of meals but we chose to do their buffet! Sunrise cafe has plenty of tables and chairs and you also have the option to seat outside with the ocean view but we chose to seat inside. Service here is phenomenal! once you got your server is already to take your order. As for the buffet, they offer made to order omelet, which I did on the first day. They also have freshly squeeze orange juice, coffee, pancakes, fresh fruits, sausage, eggs, hash brown and many more! I love it! I always love breakfast buffet and Sunrise cafe is just part of our amazing stay at Omni! if you are staying at Omni this is definitely a must try. read more

3 out of 5 plates were big hits- the 2 diners who ordered the biscuits w/sausage gravy were disappointed and didn't eat most of the dish. No taste with the gravy and the biscuits had more of a muffin/cake texture. The 3 of us that ordered the breakfast bowl, eggs Benedict and huevos rancheros were very pleased and cleaned our plates! Sunrise Cafe was prob my favorite place upon my visit. This is for breakfast and they close pretty early so get there before they do! When you get the menu, close it and tell them you would want to opt for the buffet option. Items on the menu are already $25-$29. Just pay an extra dollar or whatever and get the buffet. The omelets are made as ordered and they are delicious. They have all the breakfast meats, grits, oatmeal, smoked salmon to make a lox bagel, yogurt, fruits, pancakes, fresh baked sour dough bread etc. The list goes on. They have a cold brew machine and a machine that freshly squeezes oranges for its juice. I would recommend trying everything as it was delicious. read more

Decided to try this place out for thanksgiving dinner and it didn't disappoint. Getting into the Omni we ran into a less than welcoming security guard who didn't seem to excited that we were only there to eat at the restaurant, but we got in and found parking rather easily. Food was incredible and service was decent. Can't beat the views and buffet options for the holiday. We we're stuffed when we left and headed to the hotel bar after for a drink before heading home. We decided to to eat the Sunrise Café famous breakfast buffet during our stay. Adults are $28 each, and kids under 5 are completely free. It's obviously not cheap, but the buffet lives up to the hype, as they have quite a few quality options. The custom omelets are on point, and I like that they make them small (since you will also be loading up on other buffet items). They offer 5 different types of spicy peppers for your omelet, which is something I've never seen at any omelet station. The other nice thing is that you can order some items off the menu, and still count towards your buffet price. I was able to order fresh waffles and poached eggs as part of my buffet price. Other items we liked were the bacon, fruit, and various breads. We came after sunrise, so didn't get to have the amazing view. But if you do wake up early, the patio would be a great place to have a view and a full breakfast. read more

Beautiful location to eat while watching and listening to the waves. We enjoyed the outdoor seating and appreciated the shaded overhang provided by the building. Pros: The selection was fantastic! My husband loaded up on the carbs and meat. They had more than just breakfast sausage and bacon which was nice. Cuts of salami and prosciutto with a variety of cheeses was a nice alternative. A parfait station with a selection of various individual yogurt jars was offered and they even had chia pudding. The freshly squeezed orange juice machine let out the best OJ that I have ever had. The buffet also included several pastries, pancakes, quiche, biscuits and gravy and and impressive bread station. They also had a nitro self serve coffee machine with a selection of flavored syrups. All and all this breakfast buffet had some thing for everyone! Also, a great spot for children as they will get a kick out of the aquarium that is encompassed in the island of the bread station in addition to the beachside view. Cons: The bread was displayed as a whole loaf so that guests could cut their own slice. I was somewhat put off by this considering the guests had to touch the bread with their hands to slice it. There was one danish with mold on it but that tray was promptly removed when I brought it to the employees attention. Lastly, the check-in process was a bit confusing as there was no hostess at the front counter. This seemed to confuse a handful of families that came after us as well. read more

Thanks to fellow yelper Jack E's review, I visited Sunrise Café this morning for the breakfast and for the sunrise. I showed up at 6.30am and the outdoor seatings was so dark at first. I did not care and clearly I was not the only one showing up at 6.30am for the beautiful setting. Another gentleman showed up the same time. Opted for breakfast buffet ($23+tax), the spread was decent. There is a omelet station. There are French toast, pancakes, grits, sausages and bacon. Lots of pastries too. Fruits and juices were offered as well. Our server Danea took very good care of us. She was very attentive, pleasant and kind. Danea was the best staff I encountered at Omni Amelia Island during my stay! Like what yelper Jack E suggested, go Sunrise Café every morning or at least once. Just go. read more

I had a shrimp omelet that was made to order by Ms. Donnie. It was delicious and she was so pleasant.

The service was great. The wait staff seamed to always have a smile on their faces. I ate there for breakfast twice and both times were amazing. I did the Buffett! The omelette cooked by Mrs. Donnie was out of this world. I asked for an everything omelette which included lump crab meat and shrimp. Yum yummy. Great price. Robin saved the day! It started out as a horrible experience, but was turned around. With several empty tables in sight, we had a 15 minute wait. No problem. We happily had coffee while we waited, and the hostess was very friendly. We were seated at the table, and then waited. And waited. And waited. No problem. We went up to the breakfast buffet, helped ourselves, and then returned to the table to start our breakfast. After sitting at the table, for the second time, for about 10 minutes with NO ONE coming over to help us, I got up and asked 2 waitresses talking in the back if I could get some water and some water glasses. I clearly annoyed them, and they never brought us water. About 5 minutes later, a sweet waitress named Robin passed by, and asked if anyone had waited on us. She immediately got us water, coffee and found our waitress. Our official waitress, Shanique, came over after Robin had already taken care of anything and brought us our bill. I know I had to look bewildered because we weren't finished eating. Robin made a second appearance and I asked for a mimosa. She came bopping back to our table, and proudly handed me a very special "Robin-mosa." Not only did Robin turn the experience around, but a very friendly manager came over as well. I honestly think I will never top this place & will forever compare other Brunch spots to it for years to come. At first, the price tag caught my eye as I saw it was a buffet. I do not enjoy buffet's as I am not one to gorge myself. I prefer to eat a portion of my meal & take home the rest. For this meal... it was time to make an exception! I will let my photos & videos do a lot of the talking. I tried just about everything & it was all amazing. You really do get your money's worth. For one price, you get full access to the brunch buffet & an entree. Either on their own are amazing, but getting both was just on another level of "WOW!" We had a large party of about 20-25 & every single person said it was the best brunch they'd ever had. Sunrise Café is located in the Sunrise section of the Omni Hotel on the Amelia Island Plantation compound. It's a cute restaurant with ocean views available whether you are seated indoors or on the outside deck. The breakfast buffet is a $23.00 all-you-can-eat extravaganza featuring locally made honey, yogurts, and specialty omelets. I found the buffet overwhelming so I ordered a delicious egg white frittata ($16.00) and yummy coffee. Towards the end of our experience the chef came out and personally apologized for a seating mishap we experienced and presented us with a fruit and yogurt delight as well as a chai tea and local honey experience. The cafe doesn't get crowded until 8:30/9am, but if you're there by 6:30/7am you get a fantastic brunch with a priceless view of a sunrise over the Atlantic. So worth it! The food itself is also great, with fresh squeezed juices, a better-than-average omelet bar, fresh breads and jams and honeys, and all the usual fixings. Garage parking was abundant and the signage easily led us to the restaurant. The buffet is absolutely the way to go for the price and experience. Our party of six had a wonderful Thanksgiving gathering at the Sunrise Cafe. The location, inside Omni, is beautiful. We had a table by the window and the view was gorgeous. The buffet had so much selections and everything tasted really good, especially for a buffet. I was pleasantly surprised by how moist and tasty the turkey was. I actually went for seconds, despite the fact that there are tons of other dishes to try. The stuffing was really delicious as well. Aside from the traditional turkey and fixings, they have a side room for other dishes, including brunch items like 'made to order' omelet and bene. The dishes ranges from the usual breakfast items like eggs and bacon to pastries, bagels, smoked salmon, to other items like shrimp cocktail, oyster on half shells, to sashimi... Plus the very delicious grits (had to point that out, it was that good). The buffet comes with all you can drink mimosa, which makes the hefty $49 a bit more bearable. Their dessert bar has made to order ice cream with banana foster, along with other interesting bite size desserts from chocolate cake to creme brûlée. The service was friendly, tho our server was a bit distracted and a few times, we had to really flag her down to get something. The atmosphere can't be beat tho. Live two-man band playing soft jazzy / classic tunes. We didn't want to leave, even after we stuffed ourselves, because we were enjoying the atmosphere and music so much. The breakfast buffet was incredible! Now, I know what you are thinking, and this isn't your typical, pre-packaged, 'continental', b-fast. Everything on the buffet was being cooked right before they opened their doors early that morning. The buffet had everything from bagels and locks, to fresh, locally harvested honey, that was still in the comb. The menu also had some of the best grits I've eaten. I usually cannot tolerate brie, but this buffet had some amazing cheeses, including brie. (Which I actually enjoyed) I'm not usually a breakfast person, but I'll crave this place! read more

This is one of those places that you remember from your casual weekend trip years down the road... It was an absolute unexpected GEM. We went for brunch on Sunday of the Concours while were staying at the Omni. The brunch was from 11:30-3. We walked up to light jazz music setting the ambiance and were sat at a table with a beautiful ocean view. The brunch menu (for $40 a person) includes a buffet (more on that later), bottomless mimosas, coffee, an unlimited raw bar and entree of your choice. We felt that the value was incredibly reasonable for what we got. Simply put this buffet is out of a fantasy. Everything is fresh, beautifully presented and the variety is incredible. Quiche, biscuits, gravy, bacon, oysters, shrimp cocktail, grits, oatmeal, omelets made to order, pastries, fresh fruits, yogurt, sausage... You name it. We were overwhelmed in the best way possible. We felt even that we could get by with the just the buffet and this would have been a great breakfast... SO good. For our entrees we had the chicken and waffles which was delicious. The black pepper waffles and blueberry sauce perfectly complimented the chicken flavor. Bottom line: be ready to eat when you go here... But you won't forget it. read more
