Wow, Salt i have been wanting to come here for so long! I saw they were having a special dinner for closing of the Restaurant Week and me and a friend signed up! Walking in they greeted you with a cocktail or champagne ( love that!) They have a small lounge/ bar area, so we got seats next to the fireplace and enjoyed the spoiling :) Then dinner started, each course was wonderful! Loved the bread courses with the butter and assorted salts. Serves were everywhere, quickly clearing the table, refilling anything you needed. Just all around a lovely fancy evening out! Food was fantastic.
This is not a restaurant we would go to several times a week, a month or even a year. It Is pricey, no doubt about it. But if you want an over the top dining experience, you need to treat your to this restaurant. At least once. We went with high expectations and the service they provided was more than we expected. Like a performance, everyone was synchronized and moving in perfect harmony to attend to you. It was like watching a well rehearsed play. The dining room faces a salt marsh and has a great view if you dine before sunset. Sadly, it faces east so you don't see a sunset, but they do set off fireworks after dark! What a pleasant surprise! Now about the food...it was mostly 5 star. The first course was a potato leek (cold) vichyssoise that was just a few sips from a small cup. Delicious. We opted to go the route of the Chefs Tastings. Three different seafoods, Wagyu beef and a dessert. But even before the first course arrived we were given warm sourdough and Asiago cheese rolls with butter and an array of sea salts. Red Hawaiian, citrus and a fermented garlic sea salt you could sprinkle on your bread. I was in heaven! The first course was a yellow fin tuna. I really enjoyed that one! Next was probably my favorite, one perfect, huge scallop. Next was halibut, very good. Wagyu beef was next and as it was served, announced that it was Australian Wagyu. What? We have eaten Australian filet before and found the same qualities as this Wagyu, mainly not melt in your mouth tender although it did have a good beefy flavor. Australian beef is grass fed and not grain fed at the end, which would make it more tender. No amount of massaging is going to change that. Then the dessert course went downhill from there. It was a profiterole with dark chocolate and hazelnut. It started out great, but in one bite a rancid hazelnut ruined the whole thing. It was only one bite the others that followed were fine. To their credit, when we were honest with our server, she took the comments to management and they were actually grateful for our feedback. The pastry chef tasted the nuts she used and confirmed they were rancid. She will be re-making that dessert with fresh ingredients. So if you want to feel pampered and special, this is a good place to celebrate life's milestones and celebrations. Just know you will pay for it!
Last night was such a treat My friend and I went to the closing dinner for Amelia Island Restaurant Week at Salt inside The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, and it did not disappoint. Four different chefs, four incredible courses, and every dish more delicious than the last. Amazing food, great company, beautiful ambiance, such a fun way to wrap up an incredible week.
We booked our reservation at Salt as soon as we booked our stay at the Ritz. Knowing this was one of the top, if not the top restaurant on the island, we had high expectations. The staff, the food, the beautiful ocean view were all on point. Everyone made our night so special, we can't wait to return
Fine dining at its very best! The specialty cocktails were 2 of the most amazing that I've ever had. I loved that the bread service included unsalted butter that you could then choose to add from the variety of salts provided ie citrus or smoky... all delicious (and available for purchase to take home). My favorite dish was the cobia- cooked to perfection, moist and flaky with just the right crust. I also highly recommend their unique twist on baklava! It was amazing with a fresh cup of french press. The service was excellent.. our glasses were never less than half full and the view was spectacular! Absolutely recommend Salt if you are looking for an upscale splurge!!
Must go! From start to finish everything was just fantastic! We went two nights in a row. One with kids and one without. With kids- kids love the truffle pasta that was an appetizer. They ate one portion each and split a portion. They were big fans of the bread service that came three times during the meal. They offered 3 types of salt with unsalted butter. Servers on both nights were really knowledgeable and answered the many questions that were asked. Espresso martinis were delicious. On the second night I tried the lavender gin drink which was great. I had the beef tenderloin both nights because it was so good I couldn't get anything different the second night. It has a really unique taste and was incredibly soft. My husband had the lamb and then the Wagyu the second night. Both meals were delicious. Restaurant is beautiful with views of the ocean. Amuse-bouche was given on both nights. The first the night was a soup that was amazing and the second night was tuna tartar that was delicious as well. Desserts were exceptional. We had the apricot soufflé, chocolate passion fruit, and Pavlova. They also gave complimentary salt to take home and macaroons and chocolates.
What a wonderful time! We celebrated my 39th birthday at Salt, and everything was just perfect. The ambiance was amazing, low lights, soft music, and a welcoming vibe that set the mood from the moment we walked in. From the warm greeting to the very end of our meal, the experience was fantastic. David, our server, was attentive and made sure each course was spot on. We tried a few appetizers and a steak, and the flavors were outstanding. I especially loved the unique touch of having three different types of salt to customize our food each one transformed the dish, making it feel like we were enjoying three meals in one! The drinks were delightful, but the cherry on top was the thoughtful birthday gift, a piece of chocolate and salt to take home. We absolutely loved it, and we'll definitely be back!
One of the best meals I've had!! Everything we ordered was SO good and did not disappoint. It was such a vibe too. Of course, the service was amazing, and the food presentation. They offer a piece of complimentary bread. None of the meals were salty at all lol! I love how they give you 3 different salts to take home. Love a good souvenir. What I ordered: - OCTOPUS: Castelvetrano Olives, Piquillo Peppers, Chorizo Oil - PASTA: Cestini, King Crab, Lobster, Fennel - LOBSTER: Whole Maine Lobster, Grits, Shellfish-Tomato Emulsion - WAGYU: Fried Rice, Warm Gochujang Vinaigrette - SOUFFLÉ: White Chocolate Soufflé, Chocolate Vanilla Anglaise, Chocolate Ice Cream
A friend was in town and staying at The Ritz for a conference. She had a reservation at Salt and invited me to join her. Interestingly, although I'd obviously heard of Salt and been at The Ritz on several occasions, I hadn't dined there. So I was open to trying it. We went with the tasting menu for which was seafood themed and five courses. Walking in, the place was nice and quiet. All of their salts were on display, just past the host stand. We were taken to a table, and our waitress came over almost immediately to offer bread with butter and some of their salts. I loved being able to taste a few different salts. The five course tasting menu was disappointing overall. While there were definite high points such as the branzino, several dishes lacked seasoning such as the sole. I also wasn't a fan of the Paris Brest that they served for dessert but the blueberry ice cream accompanying it was delicious. For a lower price point, I would't have minded but for $245, I expected the food to be amazing...it wasn't. It sort of seemed to me that the prices are unnecessarily high here. I did appreciate however that we got to choose which salt we wanted to take home at the end of the night. If I returned, I would order a main entree off the menu and skip the tasting menu.
We attended a private lunch event at Salt, called the Chefs Theater where the head chefs conduct cooking demonstrations. You can enjoy champagne while they demonstrate each dish, then you are served the dishes with a beautiful wine pairing. It's such a memorable, and enjoyable way to experience Salt. On this occasion, we enjoyed the following fine dining courses... Lightly cooked scallops with artichoke veloutè, chanterelles, and caviar Halibut with lobster medallions, parsnip, and beurre noisette Key lime soufflè Everything was wonderful! I learned so much about fine dining and how important it is to use good ingredients. The wine was fantastic, the view was gorgeous, and the service was lovely. It was also fun to meet the chefs and get to know them. Salt offers a beautiful fine dining experience and I would definitely recommend you give them a try.
Had the opportunity to eat dinner at Salt twice last week and thoughts it was really good. The first night was prefixed menu as we had a party of 6, the following night we Closed out the restaurant out for a team dinner. Everything was delicious from beginning to end. No complaints and we have over 200 ppl in the restaurant. The lobster was so fresh and the steak just melted in my mouth. The dessert was really good. I would most definitely dine here Again. It was not cheap.
I love Salt! Fun fact: the hubs and I were married at the Ritz 14 years ago and had our rehearsal dinner here. Salt never disappoints. Full stop. The service, the food, the vibe is always stellar and relaxing. I enjoy the bar area more than the main dining room. The steaks are amazing. The desserts are amazing as well. I love popping in from time to time for dinner and nostalgia. The "new look" at Salt is nice, and it's much lighter and less tavern-like in the bar area. I love taking salts to go. Cheers til next time! read more

Went to Salt for a work dinner/group event. Most of the food and experience was good and the service was fine, however, the chef thought it was acceptable to send out a dry pasta with sautéed mushrooms in place of a chicken fettuccine for the second course (see photo). It wasn't 1 sent out by accident - but 3 of them to me and my executives. I was embarrassed to say the least. I also shared my level of disappointment with the server, twice, before he let the manager know. They could have fixed it had he told them when it happened, but for some reason chose not to. My opinion of Salt has been forever changed. read more

Me and my partner went for date night a few weeks ago and the food was quite bland to say the least. He got the beef wagyu entree and the portion size was the size of a child's hand. Definitely not worth the price. I had the tasting menu. It was ok but I've had better lobster and better wagyu. The fish was not that good. Bland! You're paying for the ritz prices not for a great meal. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. We won't be back for a meal but will probably go to the bar sometime. The ambience was nice. read more

Not a bad word to say. We were on a week long family trip to a couple resorts and this meal is the best we had as far as food, service and ambiance. The attention to detail is what sets them apart from other restaurants. Olga our waitress was personable and made sure our every needs were attended before we even had to ask (especially with our almost two year old daughter there as well). We had the pasta special, a salad, Sole, Beef and souffle. Our favorites were the Wagyu beef with an Asian sauce and the Seafood pasta with the fennel cream sauce. The fennel perfectly balanced out the richness of the seafood and cream. There was also a lobster amuse which I could have eaten 6 of. Again thank you to Olga for making it a special evening for our family. read more

To begin Salt is the white tablecloth of the Ritz Carlton in Jacksonville, Fl. Being in the Ritz speaks for itself. Everyone and everywhere you go within the hotel you receive great service and our waiter at Salt provided exceptional service. The room was a little dated, dark brown cigar-style, although we were informed they were setting up for a major renovation. My wife and I at the Ritz for our Wedding anniversary so they took extra care of us and made us feel special. I highly recommend Salt and also the smokey old fashion at the lobby bar. Go and enjoy!! read more

Everything was amazing! From service, to ambiance, to food. Our server Olga was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. We loved our salts selections for assortments of breads. Lamb was the best I've ever tried, flavorful but not overpowering. Baklava desert was delicious and we loved it with selections of hot teas that they had to offer. We also enjoyed our complimentary macaroons and truffles. read more

Here it is - a review that I'm sure is anticipated by many. The infamous "SALT" in Fernandina Beach inside the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island was my destination on July 2, 2024. We often frequent the lovely resort, but have never had a chance to enjoy this dining establishment. Because it was our anniversary we decided to enjoy a lovely evening here. What you need to know: - It is a five diamond award-winning seafood forward restaurant using simple fresh ingredients to tantalize your tastebuds! - The wine cellar boasts 400 labels for you to enjoy. - Located in a coastal setting, over 40 varieties of salts harvested from all over the world are available to enhance the flavor of your evening! -It is located inside the Ritz Carlton resort in Amelia Island. You do not have to stay at the resort to enjoy the experience here. Simply pull up to the front of the resort and let vallet take your car - enter the resort and make your way to the restaurant. However, if you are staying here , definitely save an evening for SALT! - There's a strict dress code! I find this so refreshing! Gentlemen are required to wear long pants and closed toed shoes. Hats are not allowed. Jackets are encouraged. And of course, the ladies will want to dress accordingly. - $$$$ - You can make a reservation on OpenTable and Salt will require a deposit. This is a white tablecloth fine dining beachfront establishment. The views are amazing from almost anywhere in the restaurant as all tables have some sort of view of the ocean. It is beautifully decorated and provides a romantic ambience. Music was chiming in the background - it was relaxing and upbeat at the same time. There is a nice bar/lounge outside the restaurant as you enter if you choose to have a cocktail there before hand. There is also a nice patio off of the restaurant outside that overlooks the ocean. Just as you would expect at a place like this, the wait staff was extremely professional and attention to detail was not spared. The food was on par and perfect, every single dish! It was a perfect evening! If you are looking for an upscale fine dining venue that allows you to dress up for a nice evening out - you have found it! Perfect for a special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, perfect anytime! Grab a date and go! My apologies in advance for not getting photos of the entrees and other items that we enjoyed. I did not want to disturb anybody by taking pictures. However, we delighted in the greens and vegetables, Cobia, Beef tenderloin, a beautiful bottle of Malbec, and of course, the fantastic soufflés for two! Everything was perfect! Feel free to check Yelp for other images. Enjoy! read more

I booked this reservation weeks before we arrived in Amelia Island. I was so excited because it is a five diamond restaurant. The ambience is a typical steakhouse and I think it is truly overrated. After visiting Davids steakhouse, this place had a lot to live up to and unfortunately for me, it failed. The service was decent but it was not as good as David's and they did not even come around to clean the crumbs off of the table. There were no palate cleanser's and that was strange to me. The food was good but it was nothing special. I actually chose some thing off of the vegetarian menu and my husband got the fresh fish, which he enjoyed. It also was very loud in there for some reason, it's definitely not a romantic place if you want somewhere quiet. They do give you a small little container of a salt of your choice to take home. I really did not find any of the salt that phenomenal but we chose one. I don't know if I just went on an off night, but we were celebrating our anniversary and expected more. It has great reviews, maybe we'll have better luck than I did. read more

Family went to Salt at the Ritz to celebrate the Christmas holiday together. We ordered the Waygu steak, Lamb and Beef Tenderloins. Delicious while catering to your dietary needs. My husband and I have been to Salt before and been completely blown away by the food and service. This time it fell flat! First of all it was my birthday and my husband told them that in advance. No mention was ever made. The waiter was okay but it was not what we are used to there. My 2-4 oz filets we well done and I had asked for medium. He never came back to check their temperature or if we we enjoying our meal. I can honestly say the food was average at best especially considering the prices. We knew what to expect but we willing to pay the prices based on prior experiences. My filets were barely warm and my husband said his fish had no flavor. We will go back again based on prior meals and if the meal experience is better I will mark this up to covid. I do feel however that the lack of service and checking on us had nothing to do with covid. Not a great birthday meal. read more

Dover Sole: $105 Wagyu: $100 Dessert: $25 Chocolate Mousse with a praline ice cream. Overrated and would Uber from hotel to dine at another restaurant. While the service was great the food did not match up with the price. The small piece of Wagyu paired with the smallest "brick shaped" of fried rice. I would equate it to a stack of small legos was not worth $100. The fish was cooked well and the sauce that came with it was quite lovely. The tea-size cup of saffron mashed potatoes that were served alongside the fish were cold, and not good. Again, for $105 it was not worth it. Nothing memorable about the chocolate mousse. Let's just say chocolate is my love language and we didn't even finish the dessert. The amuse Bouche, and the complimentary chocolates and macaroons were the best thing we ate. read more

Is the restaurant kid/ toddler friendly?
Is there a way to make a reservation for one? The online reservation system won't accept single diners.
I would call The Ritz. They're super nice and accommodating.
Do they serve the full menu at the bar/lounge?
No-the bar has sushi and other items but not the Salt menu. The Coast restaurant and bar offer same food I believe. However, the lobby bar has greater variety in drinks than Coast. E
