We haven't been to Pogo's since they revamped the menu. We liked the food in prior years, but the menu was sort of scattershot. Now it's clearly Italian, leaning modern. The decor really hasn't changed; it's still one of the nicest rooms on the island. We showed up with three bottles of wine from deep in our cellar, and they handled them well. I offered to cork the 2015 Chablis, as I was a little unsure about the cork stability, and they were fine with that. (By the by, the wine was fine; absolutely wonderful, in fact). Our party of 7 ordered across the menu; the burrata starter (with an extra order of focaccia, as suggested by the server), the meatballs, the suppli, and 1/2 dozen of the east coast oysters. The oysters were great; small, shallow cup, briny and fresh. The suppli were small, but cut into bite size portions, we shared them around, and the taste was all there. The meatballs were slightly smaller than we thought they'd be, but they were meaty, juicy, and came in a ragu that perfectly complemented them. The burrata was the star of the show; fresh, milky, and accompanied with diced tomatoes, onions and strawberries. We were in luck with out entrees; they had their burger on the menu. The burger is made from scraps of their Waygu steak. It was served on a toasted brioche bun with melted cheese, house burger sauce, and house made pickles. The fries were delivered extra crispy, as I requested. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Truly spectacular. The pastas really shone; the lobster ravioli were wonderful (though the portion was a little smaller than we thought is should be) with thin hand stuffed pasta and plentiful lobster filling; the pasta carbonara was wonderful (and prepared with guanciale, as it should be), and the English pea and mint agnolotti was a vegetarian's dream. The smoked chicken lasagna was a huge portion served in a cast iron coquette; I seem to recall it from the old menu, and it was as good as always. We were all stuffed after our feast, but we still had room to share some of the mini cannolis. They were made à la minute; no mushy pastry shell here. First class dessert Service was good, pricing was reasonable, and the atmosphere was lovely; highly recommended for modern Italian on Amelia Island. read more

Pogo's is absolutely beautiful inside, very modern, warm, and inviting. We had an early reservation, and it was fairly quiet, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I had been excited to try this restaurant after hearing such great things, and it did not disappoint. We were greeted by the staff right away and everyone was incredibly friendly. As soon as I opened the menu and saw they had a Hugo Spritz, I didn't even need to look any further. You don't see those around here often, and it was excellent. I ordered the lobster ravioli, my husband had the veal, and we shared the onions as a side, everything was delicious. The service was fantastic, and our waiter was attentive. Holy cow! This place is a real find! If I could give it 6 stars I would! A real chef is in this kitchen! Our server, Austin H. on the patio, which was peaceful and private, was super & he made excellent drinks for us (I tried the Hugo Spritz, which was so refreshing!) We had the Parmesan funnel cake to start (had read about this on another review- thank you!) like nothing we have ever had! Soo good! Plus the bring out a complimentary naan bread & hummus starter which was yummy! Then for entrees we had the smoked chicken lasagna and the mushroom stroganoff and both were excellent! Lemon offset the amaretto sweetness perfectly Rather than bread and butter they provide a peanut- honey mixture with fluffy pita that has been briefly charred. I could sit here all night munching that and order more cocktails My bolagnaise (spelled wrong thanks speech to text!) Absolutely perfect. The meat was rich and the pasta al a dente and tasted fresh I finished off with the apple cobbler topped with a honey Gelato. I should have stopped but it was so gooey and tart-sweet I just had to finish it I forget what i ordered 2 years ago but it was so unique and fantastic this became a need-to return place!!!! We love it here, I said it before and I'll say it again: this is a hidden gem in Amelia! It's positively wonderful. The decor is modern yet cozy and everything from the menu to the staff is perfectly curated. Our server Brooklyn was so kind, offered help on the menu and was around everytime we needed her but didn't feel like she was hovering. The menu always has exactly what you are craving and everything is so fresh. We had the bread board which is so fun and always freshly baked. This time went with oysters and a salad to start and then shared the braised short rib and gnocchi for entrees. Everything was so tender and delicious as well as fairly priced. We had a great dinner at Pogo's. We had a reservation and were seated as soon as we walked in. Our server came quickly with water and took our drink order. She was friendly, made enough conversation to make us feel like she was glad we were there but also respected our privacy. We ordered the tuna tartare for an app and it was very good. Then came boiled peanut hummus. This was a free serving that everyone gets. It taste a lot like peanut butter, I didn't really care about it one way or the other but my wife really liked it. For entrees I had the Bolognese and my wife had the seared scallops. My wife commented that the scallops were the best she ever had. She is not one to finish a meal usually but she finished all of this. The Bolognese was very good. The sauce had good flavor, plenty of meat and the cheese was fresh on top. My wife has a severe bell pepper allergy. The server took note of this and everyone who would have contact with our food knew to take special care with her plate. This is a really big deal and I don't know that any place has ever taken this allergy so seriously. I was in the area with some old friends and Pogo's came recommended from a friend of a friend. We couldn't resist the opportunity to get snazzed up and go out for an evening of good drinks, good food, and a whole lot of catching up. The weather was not the best and we were running a little late. The restaurant was understanding and helped us shift our reservation to accommodate our late arrivals. Once there, we ordered a round of cocktails and then some shareables. My very favorite was the boiled peanut hummus served with grilled pita, which had strong pad Thai vibes. It was delicious! My second favorite was the calamari. It was well flavored and perfectly cooked. The group also tried the cheese board and burrata. Some in the group weren't a fan of the mortadella on the cheese board. For dinner, I had the lasagna. It wasn't a traditional, casserole-style dish. It was rolled up layers and then grilled/sautéed on the ends to give a nice sear. Then it was served on a big schmear of sauce. It was very fresh (had farm to table vibes) and I could taste the vegetables in the rolls (yum!). Sadly, we didn't try desserts because it was late and we were stuffed. I've eaten at Pogo's kitchen a couple of times and the food, service and ambience has always been quite good. HOWEVER, this review is about my Thanksgiving-to-Go experience. All I ordered was the whole turkey & gravy (for 8-10 people). It only required heating for 60 mins, it was phenomenal. We also had a lamb roast on the menu, so all in all, I was able to serve 11 for the actual dinner, plus two days of leftovers for all! It got rave reviews from everyone and what a reasonably priced time saver. If I do it again, I will be sure to order stuffing as well. The only reason I wouldn't order the entire dinner is because family and cultural traditions dictate a different menu. The online ordering process and pick up were also super easy. I was let down pretty hard. Had extremely high hopes based on reviews (we drove 45 minutes to visit for date night). One great thing was the gem salad. We said we were planning to split it, waiter offers to split for us, ends up charging us for splitting it. Whatever. Service was really weird. They have this "Pogo's Style" way to prepare oysters that's basically just a dash of champagne and cucumber. Sounded good and we wanted to try it with our order so we asked if we could get it but only on 2 of them and just leave the rest blank. Waiter told us no, we make no "modifications." I wouldn't really call that a modification but ok, I asked again to confirm and he said "definitely not, our kitchen is very strict." When we initially sat down we tried to order an appetizer and he explained that we order everything at once and everything comes out on the kitchen's time. Okay that's fine, we put everything in next time he came around, but he started asking us when we want stuff getting sent out. Again just weird since a second ago we weren't allowed to make individual orders because the kitchen needs control over when to send food out. Nick was outstanding! The she crab soup was absolutely delicious, and the braised short rib was a solid 10/10. I wasn't too keen on the boiled peanut hummus, and while the halibut was flawlessly cooked, the fennel in the sauce really threw me off. Totally my oversight...I didn't realize it came with fennel, and that licorice flavor just overpowered the rest of the dish. Pogo's Kitchen is a hidden gem located at Amelia Island. I found out about this restaurant when I was looking for a venue place and this place pop up on zola, i was intrigued so I told my husband I want to go visit this place and the rest was history. Pogo's Kitchen is in the middle of Oak trees when you are driving around Amelia Island, It is closed to Omni hotel, they have plenty of parking spots so it's a win win already on that part. Food: Highly recommend, went here this past Saturday evening to have our food tasting (yes, we booked Pogo's Kitchen) for our appetizer we tried the oysters, we picked the Pogo's version and the regular version which was both pretty good! Oysters was so fresh and the seasoning they put in there was fantastic! we also got the chance to try the she crab soup which was creamy and the lump crab on the middle was perfect! as for dinner we had the braised beef, char grilled fillet and the pan seared halibut as for our sides we had fingerling potatoes, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, asparagus and we added broccolini. the favorites was the char grilled fillet and the halibut. ohhh you know the chef knows what they are doing if they did not ask you how you want your steak but when it came out it was AMAZINGLY PERFECT!, the Halibut, the freshest and juiciest fish I ever tried! as for the sides winner was the mashed potatoes, asparagus and the broccolini, but of course we have to try dessert we had the berry cobbler and the pecan tart... We were in town for a medical conference and decided to try Pogo Kitchen based on the reviews, their "farm-to-table" concept, and what we expected would be an elevated culinary experience. Unfortunately, our evening fell far short of expectations. We were seated at 7:48 PM, but our entrées did not arrive until 9:03 PM, over an hour later. Our server apologized and explained that a large table had backed up the kitchen, but by that point we had already expressed that we couldn't stay much longer. When the food finally came, we asked for it to be boxed up and requested the check, as it was quite late and we had an early start the next morning. The quality of the dishes did not justify the wait. My wife's smoked ricotta pasta was not the best and consisted of maybe 6-8 small pieces, a very simple dish that should not have taken so long. My sablefish entrée was served with just cream, corn, and shishito peppers, very minimal, and not what I would consider a fully composed dish. To make matters worse, other servers were already clearing candles and resetting tables for closing by the time we finally received our food, which only added to the feeling that we had been forgotten. We wanted to love this place, but Pogo Kitchen really missed the mark for us. For the price point and reputation, the experience felt disorganized and underwhelming. This is such a special restaurant! My partner and I ate here for dinner and had an intimate, delicious time. This was the best meal we had on the island, and we ate at many lovely spots. First, when we arrived for our reservation we were shown to our table, and the hostess offered that we could dine on the quiet heated patio - turned out to be such a romantic option as it was secluded and had a water feature, good breeze, etc. We loved the unique boiled peanut hummus (with crudite for my partner who is celiac). Dinner was hamachi crudo (so flavorful), spring salad (bright), snap peas (honestly the bomb and apparently not many people order them - a pity!!), and the striped bass which was so so good - served with an asparagus risotto. All of these dishes were gluten free in case you also have sensitivity. Bonus - Pogos has a farmers market setup on Saturday mornings! All of their produce is so good. We came by and got two crustless quiches and oysters. They were also selling pizzas, farm eggs, wine, spices and more. Highly recommended! There was live music and ample seating. read more

Indubitably the best espresso martinis north of Miami and south of Atlanta. I highly recommend the "Insomniac" - also available in decaf, so one can enjoy this whipped adult milkshake anytime. The staff are delightful and trained in sommelier style. Amanda, their mixologist-in-residence, is a marvel at her craft. Pogos is one of our favorite restaurants on the Island. Brunch is always good beginning with the complimentary glass of bubbly. I always enjoy the French toast or cinnamon roll. Unfortunately, we thought that the octopus was far too chewy and not flavorful enough. Also, the charcuterie board was "skimpy" to say the least.... We were expecting more meat than four of the most thinly sliced salami pieces. However, our entrees were much better. Especially delicious was the pappardelle! The hummus was creamy with a rich peanut flavor and bits of crunchy peanuts. Warm soft toasted pita was perfect for scooping up the hummus. Next we had the Chef's Selection of Oysters (Pogo's Style). The oysters were fresh, briny, lightly spicy and topped with crisp caviar and flavorful cucumber juice. This was followed by the She Crab Soup which was my favorite dish of the meal. The soup was super flavorful: rich, milky, creamy and briny and filled with tender crab, sweet crunchy pickled celery and juicy roe. For my entrée, I had the Frutti Di Mare. Savory, peppery and briny al-dente pasta was mixed with melt in your mouth scallops and tender shrimp. My wife enjoyed the Roasted Duck. Finally, for dessert we split the Pecan Tart with Fig Ice Cream. The tart was filled with sweet, soft and caramelized pecans in a crisp tart. read more

The squid ink pasta was an adventurous pick, and it was so good! The lobster bisque soup was also to die for! The service was also great on top of that. When we received our bill there was a $3 additional charge. When I asked about the charge she told me it was for the condiments - $1 each. She was embarrassed and apologized but said she could do nothing about the charge. It was my first and only time to eat at the restaurant. AMAZING! We were in town for a race and came in for a post-race brunch celebration. Our meal started off with a complimentary champaign toast - don't mind if we do! The menu was full of tasty options and deciding was hard, but I finally went with the Crab Benedict - blue crab stuffed inside a corn muffin and topped with the most perfectly cooked eggs and old bay hollandaise sauce.
