Salmon

Wonderful experience. $20 corkage fee to bring your own special bottle of wine is so very reasonable. Our server Taylor was charming and efficient. I tried the andouille sausage gumbo as a starter and it was thick and tasty. The specials all sounded creative and delicious. I opted for the braised pork shank with mashed potatoes and broccoli. It was topped with a demi glaze sauce and crispy onion. Absolutely magnificent. Had enough leftover for lunch the next day. My wife had the Country Captain Salmon and raved about it. There is magic coming out of the kitchen Thank you chefs.

Anniversary dessert on the house.

Very demure! The service from Sidney was top tier she made a longgg travel day much better. The food tastes like a slight creole inspiration. Was reasonably priced for a more upscale restaurant in a small town. Would definitely recommend.

q: 'Chef? are you proud to serve this plate?' a: "No Chef!"

Dined: September 2025 -- Couple -- Belated Birthday Dinner Bottom Line Up Front: We left incredibly disappointed--not just in the preparation, presentation, and flavor of the food, but even more so that the manager, who knew full well about the problems, never came to our table to acknowledge them. Clearly this restaurant gets it right sometimes, but on our visit, it was nowhere close. 1. Mussels ($16) The mussels were just okay. I love garlic, but the broth was completely overwhelmed--easily the equivalent of 6-8 cloves of rough-chopped garlic floating in the bowl. Worse, I got one mussel that tasted off, then another, and I had to stop. It's hard to shake that taste once it's in your mouth. My wife also had a bad one, and we both pushed the dish aside. (You can see in the attached video that most of the mussels were untouched, still in the bowl even after our mains arrived.) To be fair, mussels are highly perishable, and it's late summer when they turn even faster, so I'll give some grace there. Still, I'd rate them a 2 out of 5. 2. My Steak -- New York Strip ($38) I made it very clear when ordering: I wanted my steak charred. I repeated it multiple times, stressing that I wanted a very dark char and crust, medium rare. The server confirmed it was cooked on a flame grill--perfect, I thought. When the plate arrived (via a food runner, not my server--which is fine), my first reaction was shock. I've eaten at many of the world's best steakhouses (Keens, Delmonico's, Hawksmoor, Peter Luger). While I wasn't expecting that level of perfection, for $38 I expected at least a well-prepared steak. Instead, here's what I got: No char. Not even close. Partial, faint grill marks that looked careless and uneven. Meat that was just an ugly gray--completely unappetizing. The "bourbon butter" compound wasn't spooned neatly as shown on their website photo--it looked like it had been flung across the steak with a fork. The sauce, which online appeared rich and dark like a demi-glace, was instead tasteless. I even asked my wife to taste-check me, and she agreed. The steak itself had almost no seasoning. No real salt, maybe a whisper of pepper. The texture wasn't terrible, but it was utterly flavorless. In short: this steak was a total miss. If the chef cares at all about their craft, I'd challenge them to look at the photo I attached and ask: Would you be proud to serve this plate? Would you put your name on it? My rating: 1 out of 5. 3. My Wife's Chicken ($26) Massively overcooked. Videos show the skin nearly blackened, and the meat beneath bone-dry. Cutting into it was like sawing through beef jerky. The gnocchi had some flavor, but the sauce shown on the online menu photo wasn't there. Instead, it was thick, pasty, and dry. When our server checked in, I showed her the steak and said directly: "This is nothing like I ordered. Please tell the chef." I told her I wasn't asking for it to be comped, but I did want the kitchen to know. She confirmed she would let them know, and the manager later confirmed she did notify them. My wife also showed her chicken--skin blackened, inside dry as dust--and asked the chef to see it. When I asked for the check, she brought a complimentary chocolate mousse as an apology, which was a kind gesture. Still, our bill was $105 (with no alcohol), with a $16 tip because I didn't want to penalize the server for the kitchen's failings, and she wasn't the one who delivered our plates. Incredibly frustrating to pay a solid amount of money for this. Beyond the Food: Service & Atmosphere A. Staff Wrapping Silver in the Dining Room By 8:15, my wife and I were trying to salvage our evening, but staff were loudly wrapping silverware and chatting at a nearby 8-top they used as their staging table. In what's supposed to be a fine dining setting, this was tacky, intrusive, and distracting. I get it they want to get out and go home/party/whatever, but don't disrupt the guests who are expecting an elegant and relaxing visit. B. Management Failure The next day, I called the restaurant to give management a chance to hear my feedback. A manager called me back, listened, and then casually admitted: "Yes, I was there last night. I saw the chicken and called it out to the kitchen." So he was fully aware of the disaster unfolding at our table, while we were there--and chose not to say a single word to us. No apology, no explanation, nothing. That is simply Restaurant Management 101: when something goes wrong, you show your face, acknowledge it, and make the guest feel heard and know you care! Final Thought: I've been in this business for over 30 years, and I'll never forget a sign that hung above the wait station in one of the first restaurants I ever worked in: "Some customers don't get mad. They don't complain. They don't say anything at all as they head out the door. They just walk out... and never come back." That's exactly how this night felt. One star.

Took my son here for his graduation celebration. Our server, Rob, couldn't have been more perfect. Food was fantastic but dang the PB dessert was simply insane.

Great evening out on the patio. The most tender calamari! The halibut special was on point. Well prepared fish and sides with a nice accompanying sauce. Service was very nice although a little slow. Blackberry sangria was a refreshing addition to dinner.

Crab cakes

Nice spot for a date night. Specials are great and staff is well informed on food/drink details. Only dish I've ever been disappointed with are the crab cakes. Found at least 10+ shells last time we ordered them. I know sometimes it's impossible to get them all out but 10+ was pushing it. If they have the scallop special - get that! Was phenomenal. Overall, highly recommend.

I come here every year on vacation and get the house braise, usually a pork shank of some variety, always amazing, I can expect something extra. This time I brought kids, and I didn't think I would be able to dine here, but I was wrong. One kid devoured their pasta, another gave the chicken and fries a 9.8/10. We were too full for dessert but will be back again soon. Thank you for accommodating kids meals, I appreciated being able to enjoy your food, and you made it possible by providing options for my picky eaters as well.

Pulled Pork Spring Rolls

Came in with a group of 8. Everyone had a different meal, appetizer and dessert. Fried green eggplant and lump crabcake were the best but the fried pork rolls and fried oysters were also excellent. For mains I suggest either the blackened red fish or the halibut special. Also must try the tart and succulent collard greens. Best desert was the flourless chocolate cake and the warmed pecan pie with ice cream.

Banana pudding cheese cake! Fantastic

First time here after talking about it on several occasions. Came here for wife's Birthday. Well it didn't disappoint! Loved the vibe inside, that old world feel and our server was so attentive and awesome! Tipped her extra. Since this was our first time here we couldn't make a decision on the starter so we asked our server to surprise us. She brought the Fried green tomatoes. A great choice, so yummy and perfectly cooked. My main course, I had to try the Ribeye special of the day after she said to look behind you at another guests meal that was just brought out. Instantly made the decision to get it. Had no idea how much it was just wanted it! Also came with broccolini and mashed potatoes. Had a lovely glaze over the whole steak. So yummy. My wife tried the Blackened Red fish with fried oysters garnishing the top and her sides were the pickled collard greens and the crunchy Brussel sprouts...so good. Of course we had to try the dessert and after we heard banana pudding cheese cake that was a must try. Also gave her a complimentary chocolate pot o cream pudding. I may have called it the wrong name but it was so good also. Both excellent! Overall we had a wonderful experience. I highly recommend, however you will pay a premium for the special Ribeye which was $60 bucks, but it was soooo good.

Beeler's Heritage Pork Chop

First time at Lagniappe did not disappoint! There is a nice variety of southern, French creole, American dishes. Makes it easy for everyone to find something! Our waiter was super friendly and stopped by quite a few times to check in on and see how we were doing. They have an extensive cocktail menu, liquor and wine list. I always appreciate a great cocktail! For the food, our waiter recommended the trout and the pork chop. He was 100% right, both were great! The pork chop is large and super tender. Goes so well with the blueberry sauce and Mac and cheese is delicious. The fish was also fresh and a large portion with a great summer succotash side. The vibe is a little dungeon and dragons, but the food is really good. It's also really loud in the dining room so I wouldn't necessarily recommend for an intimate date just because it may be hard to hear on a crowded night. Overall, would recommend for some quality drinks and yummy creole cuisine!

Seafood banquet- bullion

Went to one of our favorite restaurants on the island for our anniversary. Started out with a smoked manhattan and sazerac from there nice cocktail menu. Then a shared ceviche - the mango compote is special. They have a nice wine list which we selected from for our meal. I had the seafood bullion which contains fish, shellfish, calamari, and shrimp in a to die for wine-tomato-vegetable bullion which is wonderful to soak up with crusted bread! My wife had a wonderful beef short rib with macaroni and cheese which she loved. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive as was everyone else. The staff brought us a free chocolate mousse for our anniversary which was very nice of them. The restaurant is always very busy but not too loud. If you are on Amelia Island this is a place to try!

The restaurant is your typical hole in the wall establishment which is where the locals go. A steady stream of regulars were walking in with to go orders. The chicken meal caught my eye. Specifically the 3 pc chicken wing meal with 2 sides, corn bread and a drink. My wife got the chicken finger meal. We both got the Mac-N-cheese and collard greens. The MAC was absolutely loaded with cheese. I hate to say this but it had too much cheese in it. My wife only ate a few bites. The collard greens made up for it, seasoned very well. The chicken wings and chicken fingers were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately they only serve wings or fingers that I could see on the menu. I suppose to cut down on cooking times. If in the area we would entertain coming back again.

Most who had the french fries liked them. I had the fried shrimp and wasn't impressed. There was thick crispy breading, but could taste alot of salt. I did not like it as much as some of the other dedicated seafood restaurants in town. The grits were just alright also. I guess my favorite was the sweet tea.
