Sadly no draft beer at this Ritz restaurant, though they do make a decent dirty martini. Oysters half shell were particularly nice with the bbq tinged cocktail sauce. Similarly, the mayport shrimp cocktail was excellent. The shrimp same peeled and the cocktail sauce had that same bbq infused flavor. Stayed with the shrimp on a bucatini pasta main. Unfortunately the shrimp were way overcooked, and the sauce a bit cloying. Not something I'd order again. Wife made a better choice, a simple fresh catch of the day of tilefish with nicely crispy fries, requested no truffle oil please (no idea why anyone thinks truffle oil is ever a good idea, but perhaps that's just me.) read more

Stopped by without a rez and they sat us right away. The greeter was very friendly and personable. We asked to be sat outside and ended up having the entire patio to ourselves. It's even heated - we did ask for them to turn a bit lower and that was no problem for them to do. The patio is right next door to a kid area so you'll prob hear some kids enjoying themselves too. Water was served very fast and shortly after, our server took our drink order. Our server was friendly and personable too! They brought us fresh bread and honey butter to start. We ordered the blackened red fish dinner and the veggie farro risotto with grilled salmon. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly! The cheesy grits on my hubby's plate were AMAZING! Our margaritas were pretty tasty - mine was a bit on the sweeter side but I loved the Tajín rim. They even have several yummy desserts, but we were too full. They have limited seating outdoors, so make reservations or go early if you're going for the view. But they have adequate space indoors as well! Had a wonderful experience here for my birthday. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was delicious, I had a filet mignon, my mother had the scallops, and my husband had the vegetable risotto with chicken. We all raved about how delicious our food was. We also loved our server Athena along with the assistant manager Emma who was absolutely spectacular. To see such polished young ladies that were so pleasant they should be commended for the excellent service they provided to us. Wife had filet that was returned for being cold with congealed Bernaise sauce. I didn't finish my flounder that was also cold with congealed sauce. Pulling up is so pretty, you valet your car then head inside, right now they are under renovations, so we kinda walked around the long way to get in which was fine cause we got to see more of the property which was Huge! They have maybe 4/5 restaurants inside, including Salt (which I wanna try!) Walking into Coast, it's so pretty, they have a beautiful heated patio and great space inside. Let me tell you everything was great, excellent service, food was so good!! We liked everything we got, no complaints at all! Just finished the Christmas Buffet at Coast Ritz Carlton Amelia Island. $175 per person. The seafood consists of Shrimp which were good, tiny crab claws which were not good, and oysters which we did not eat. There was a mediocre salad offering. The carving station was pre sliced brisket that was "ok" roasted chicken pieces that were dry and prime rib sections (not the entire piece of meat) sliced to order that was ok. Nothing was special enough that I would say it was even close to being worth $175 per person even on Christmas. The desserts were ok as well. The real kick in the Nuts was the added 20% gratuity for getting us a bottle of wine, a sweet tea and clearing dishes that sat for a while at times. We went there for their open buffet brunch and it was very good. I think for the selection of options that are available plus chef cooking your omelette to your order, $35/person is quite reasonable. The end of restaurant week was a sold-out show at Coast! Beginning with an amazing cocktail hour on the veranda followed by a 5 course 5-star dinner to wow the end of the restaurant week's crowd. The screened half-moon veranda featured tasty bites of scallops, filet mignon with blue cheese, watermelon with feta skewers, and a smoked fish on toasted crackers. Delightful cocktails included an amazing Key Lime Pie Martini, a Peach and Bourbon on the rocks, and a special locally made Mocama brewed light ale. Once seated inside, the music of a lone acoustic guitarist filled the air and the notoriously well trained Ritz staff began to serve additional libations. The tables were beautifully appointed with plenty of space to get comfortable and spread out for our party of four. Name cards, and a menu preview greeted each diner. This was my first closing restaurant week here in Fern Beach and it was so much fun! From Mayport Shrimp, to a nod to Cajun tomato rice risotto with andouille sausage, followed by a crispy chicken and cornbread crumble over spicy Kimchi - the flavors were very bold. The entree course was a pan seared snapper over red pea puree with okra and succotash (never can figure out why chefs like succotash so much). I rarely indulge in dessert but when I do I want it to really wow me! This one didn't quite wow me but made me, once again, stretch my adventure in trying something new. The apricot citrus delight was a kind of mousse with an apricot cremieux inside on top of a chocolate torte (cookie) and a crispy pretty tuile garnish on top. It was surprisingly delicious despite being something I'd never otherwise think to order. All in all it was fantastic fun with friends, a celebration of creative dishes, flavors, spices, and adventure for the palate. read more

Rachel and Mike started me off with a tasty cocktail -- the blackberry mojito. The chalkboard behind the bar displays the featured craft cocktails. I ordered the calamari appetizer which was huge. Definitely enough for two people. For my main course, I had had the filet which was cooked perfectly to rare. For dessert I had the rhubarb cheesecake. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but it was delicious. Rachel added some extra truffles for maximum sweet tooth satisfaction! My wife and I have stopped at Coast on three separate occasions for lunch. The setting is amazing and the staff has been great. I've had the local catch fish sandwich with a side salad all three times. This fish was always fresh and prepared very nicely with apple slaw, aioli on a brioche bun. My wife who is a vegetarian had the vegetable risotto which she loved and tried the veggie wrap on our last visit which she claims is the best veggie wrap she has ever had! On one visit we added the truffle fries as an appetizer which came out with three creative dips. The fries were perfectly done and the dips were very flavorful. We will definitely be back. read more

We came here during Amelia Island restaurant week and were very pleasantly surprised! I had the prefix meal for $35 which was a steal and my husband decided to order off the menu. My meal was a swordfish absolutely perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the pork chop which he said was possibly the best pork chop he's ever had. Even the bar was messy and was missing a lot of liquor selection. Not what I expected for a fancy hotel chain. The food was not very good. The burger lacked flavor and the french fries were plain with just a side of ketchup. It was like poolside food at an average hotel chain not a Ritz or JW Marriott. Presentation of food was average. Moreover, the bar was not a complete bar, as it was missing basic type of liquors to make popular drinks like negronis. It was very disappointing. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton so naturally we needed to eat out every single one of the restaurants that they have on property. We decided to eat here for breakfast and I will say that it was nothing special. The waffle was good but it was more pancake like then waffle like. It also took us about seven minutes to have someone come back up to the hostess stand and seat us but maybe they were short staffed. Anyhow, the Buffet looked great but I did not trust it as they asked people to wear gloves when they were serving themselves and I did not observe everyone doing so. Came in early on a Saturday evening (right as they opened at 5). Chose outdoor seating despite the cooler temps bc it was heated in the patio area and the view is nicer! Unbeknownst to us when we arrived, it was restaurant week and the menu was definitely a good deal- 35$ for a lobster bisque (tasted mostly like a sweet cream soup tho, I don't recommend), swordfish (firm, came with sweet purple rice and broccolini which we loved), blueberry lemonade (refreshing!), and a caramel cheesecake of sorts. A wonderful deal that let our table of four try a bit of everything. We also ordered calamari for the table and asked for a side of lemon wedges which we received with friendly service- crispy and flavorful. The burger had a bit more multigrain mustard than I would have liked but my dad enjoyed the bacon on it. The salad is massive and loaded with lots of good topping- highly recommend. Service was very attentive and friendly, and the food was solid. I was particularly happy that the $38 fresh catch wasn't Mahi - it was swordfish, and very good. Oysters thermador were also tasty ($17), but ask how many come in the order, because we were one short (but they brought the last one on a separate plate - haha). If you're expecting very high standards because it's in the ritz, remember that this is a more casual place (Salt restaurant is the bougie one, but there the halibut was $70, so I'll take the swordfish for $38 please). read more

This place was really disappointing. I didn't give a lower review because others at my table liked their meals. Liked them, not loved them and because the bartender Darrin made us great complicated drinks and kept us engaged. The outside seating was lovely. Several people at my table had a blackened mahi mahi that was really bad. The small piece of fish was not cooked in enough butter. It was bone dry on the outside and unfortunately terribly dry on the inside. Very hard to eat as it needed to be washed down. It was paired with a tomato sauce and pistachio polenta that just didn't go well together. Others at the table had the shrimp n grits and scallops and they enjoyed their meals. Our appetizers were good too. Those of us who ordered the $38 fish special barely touched it and the waiter didn't even ask if we enjoyed our meals or anything. Just moved plates around like a robot. When no one eats a dish, that is telling you something. I wanted to complain because this was an expensive meal and the chef is well known. I think he would have been upset to see food like this served. But I was at a business meal and I didn't want to make a fuss. This was a fail. read more

Coast was located towards the hotels pool area with indoor and outdoor terrace seating. Since we were dining early, we chose to dine inside with outdoor views. The menu selection offered local seafood, steaks, fresh pasta, salads, and creative appetizers. The restaurant has an open comfortable casual restaurant ambience. If I am in the southern US and there is Fried Tomatoes on the menu, well there is no question whether I will order it as an appetizer. And Coast did not disappoint. For our entree, we shared the Pan Seared Chicken Breast and the Pan Seared Snapper which were both delicious and well presented. Our dining experience was excellent along with the service. I visited the Ritz Carlton 5 years ago for a business conference and had a wonderful dining experience at their other high end restaurant-- Salt. This time I wanted to try Coast. I had 2 consecutive days of business dining which were equally fantastic. The first night we had 9 and the second night 11. The table was waiting once we arrived and in one case, we merged 2 reservations and were early. The staff was great. My waitress was Alyssa who did a phenomenal job keeping our drinks flowing and food served perfectly. The first night we had a family sharing "pre-fixe" type menu. The second night we use the main menu. I highly recommend the scallops for the main course. Expect to spend between $80-120 per person. The first night I had my Bombay Sapphire martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. I can usually tell if it's going to be a good night depending on how they make the drink. Shoot-----SCORE!! perfectly done. Of course, be sure to make room for dessert. The Coast Chocolate Cake is considered a Petite Dessert and is only $5.00. It's worth it. Everyone else seemed to go for the Key Lime pie. No complaints or issues with anyone at our table. The vibe is quite energetic when you have a conference of 100 people all dining at the same place. We dined here to see our nephew who's interning at the Ritz-Carlton, since his time off does not coincide with our schedule; and also to check out the restaurant itself. And boy were we really surprised at the level of attention they have provided us with. Our dining experience was made extra special when the restaurant's chef de cuisine came out accompanying out nephew to say hello and to chat with us for a little bit. The dishes we ordered, and prepared by our nephew and his team mates were not only appealing to the eye but were deliciously cooked. We chose to outside seating because the weather was beautiful, and it did not disappoint. The ocean is just a few steps away which allowed us glimpses of the water. The hosts who checked and sat us in were lovely & gracious. Our food attendant, Brian was very attentive. I must also add that parking is valet only, but the restaurant(s) validate. Well below expectations. The ambiance is nice, although the seats are too low for the tables. Where do I start : for starters the seafood soup was horrible , extremely salty and watery . The " seafood tower" was simply a plate with seafood and not very generous portions for the price. The chicken was so dry it was barely edible and I would have sent it back but the waiter was no where to be seen after the meal was served. I decided to get an order of oysters and mussels. Both were incredibly fresh and melted in my mouth with reasonable portions for the price. The service, as one would expect, was incredible. They have courteous and thoughtful staff. Additionally, as I was being asked if I wanted dessert, I inquired about the size of the sorbet, unsure that I wanted to get one as large as they usually come. So I was actually offered a sample on the house, which I wasn't expecting at all. Given the opportunity, I would dine here again. read more

We had dinner here recently while staying at the Ritz. We were there early and got a good spot on the outdoor patio with a beautiful view overlooking the ocean. We got calamari, coast salad, shrimp pasta, catch of the day which was mahi, and mango sorbet. Everything was really delicious and well made. Visiting from California we were curious about the hush puppy we saw on every menu locally. Our waiter came out with the chef and surprised us with their crab hush puppy which was really unique and delicious! Such a great experience. We will be back! read more

I've been eating and staying at RITZ hotels for a decade. First bad review ever. Made a reservation for dinner with family. Bread rolls were bought out were stale. When asked, waitress indicated the rolls had been overcooked earlier that day. Why no one mentioned that to us or why they were they served to anyone? They went and found a couple fresh ones from a different restaurant at the hotel. I ordered a Caesar salad and a main course fish dish. Waitresd served me the fish on top of the Caesar salad- apologized that she heard wrong. The swordfish was overcooked and dry. We got there at 5:45 PM with no one in restaurant and still took an hour to get food. No general manager in sight. Poor food. Poor service. Poor management. read more
