Well, it's been a year since my stellar review of Huddle House in Jefferson. Yeah, next visit not so bueno. Four diners piled in a booth on a recent Saturday. Early enough we thought to make our 9:00am line up for a run around the lake and pines. Drinks were provided quickly by the cook? Order process took longer than it should. Server had no other speed than first gear. We had to ask another staffer for coffee refills which annoyed her with her fake eyebrows. Still rolling down hill folks! My egg yolks were broken on over easy; bacon not cooked to order as requested. Food sat in the window too long; I almost got up and served our table. Asked for the check to make our start time; that took forever too. 60 percent of the food left on the plates. read more

And then was told we would have to wait 30 minutes. We didn't mind the 30 minute wait, but can we sit down at a table and get a cup of coffee? No ma'am cannot do that. It's a 30 minute wait. Saturday, March 19 2022 was a day that I encountered one of the worst dining experiences ever, and since I am a Boomer, I've had a lot of experience under my belt to compare my dining experience. Let me set the scene for you. My companion and I walked into a chaotic scene as we entered this fine establishment, there were four employees working. Two in the kitchen and two waitstaff. There were four tables that were occupied by guests. There were eight tables without any occupants. There was a couple in front of us, waiting patiently and after a couple of minutes, another couple came in behind us. The waitress came up to us and said they would get to us shortly, they mentioned that they were breaking in a new server and things were progressing slowly. We nodded our assent to her comment and then I noticed that every one of the empty tables were cluttered with the remainders of other guests who had eaten there previously and the tables had not been bussed yet. The couple in front of us only wanted a couple of cups of coffee to go. That simple tasks over four minutes to accomplish (my industrial engineering background came to the surface as things were not going well so far) and then the waitress came up to us and told us it would take a few minutes to get a table ready for us due to no tops we're ready yet. By now we had been standing at the front door for about ten minutes. My companion muttered "...not with this s**t!", and asked for a washcloth to clean the table. The waitress got her a towel and my action packed companion proceeded to wipe off a table top and remove the detritus off it plus she ended cleaning off another table for the couple that were waiting with us. The food was mediocre but it was hot when it was brought to the table. Low expectations result in low disappointment, after all, it was a Huddle House. During our time there, at least four other parties came in but retreated out of there due to the disheveled appearance of the place. The staff did not bus any tables during our time there but did manage to get their conversations including phone calls. I took some photos of the place after we ate to illustrate the state of the restaurant. I'm avoiding this place going forward, eating a gas station burrito is a step up from this place. read more

Tried it a few weeks ago and it was a really bad experience that I still remember every time I visit Kilgore.. Made an online order ( I thought it would be faster than calling it in) and I arrived, my food wasn't ready.. The bar they have at the counter was full of plates that the servers were waiting for them to get cold.. Waited almost 40 minutes and finally got my food.. Came home and was missing some items. Went back to the restaurant, and had to wait about 20 more minutes to get my order corrected. It's a small little place but their wait staff needs to get it together if this restaurant wants to succeed. Regardless of the horrible service, the food is great! read more

First time at a Huddle House and have heard it's hit and miss but this location did not disappoint. Perhaps it was because it's a sunny Sunday or because of the amazing server Rosalinda. From the second we stepped in she seated us right away and was the sweetest server ever. I could tell they were short staffed but she was on it. The food was delicious. The coffee was great. We went here maybe 6 weeks ago. We ate several things from the breakfast menu. It was all just okay.....we might try it again sometime. It looks promising and I think ours was maybe a little undercooked. The setting inside is just fine. Easy to get in and out. We each ate some crispy hasbrowns "All the Way" and an order of "Stuffed Hashbrowns." I think our stuffed ones might have just had too much gravy looking back at the menu picture. If I could give this place no stars I would! My companion took me to this nightmare for breakfast told me it was like a Waffle House. I said okay so here is where it goes down hill... We walked in and a couple asked for 2 coffees to go but after 6 min waiting they walked out, my companion and I had been assured seating in a few minutes that she needed to clean of a table 4 more minutes of waiting noticed no tables had been cleaned from previous unlucky diners. Seeing that there were only 2 waitresses and 3 cooks that were cranking out food but sitting there due to a mediocre busy restaurant the waitresses were busy serving. Another unfortunate couple came in after us and I just decided to take matters in my own hand and asked the waitress for a wet rag and I would clean a table off and I cleaned one for the couple who entered behind us to keep their wait lesser then ours. I was thanked by the waitress who was nice enough and the couple who were grateful. Another 10 min go buy we get asked what we would like to drink which was fairly simple 1 coffee, 1 Oj and 1 water. That came in wrong and she forgot the cream and Splenda which I had to tell them which one that was " the yellow packet" 3 coffees later and Oj drank we finally get to order. Food was warm because the waitresses were taking care of customers but not cleaning the tables all around us that were still loaded from last breakfast rush. We were given several excuses but none viable in my book as I watched the cooks and the waitress that was supposedly training the other (lmao) chatting it up as soon as customers were leaving. The new waitress took several drink breaks from the soda dispenser and at one point not one employee was to be seen as all three cooks and both waitresses were gone on breaks. Our waitress apologized said she needed a cigarette break and had to make a phone call. When we and the other couple left STILL no tables had been cleaned including ours and the other couples table. I feel very fortunate that I did not end up with food poisoning and only left with the reminder that Waffle House will never have to worry about loosing business to this chain as it is the worst ever to eat at. read more

Great place for breakfast! MVP is more than one person can eat! 2 eggs over medium were perfect. Platter had 2 sausages and 3 pieces of bacon, hash browns, grits, and 2 pieces of buttered toast. Waffle was large and delicious. Service was fast and efficient. read more

I am horrified at how RUDE the staff is here! I have always liked huddle house and never have encountered such rude service as I have at this location! I typically will not write a bad review after just one visit as I know everyone has bad days and I do not want to base my opinion on one visit, but this is the third time that I have been here and each time it is the same and each time it has also been the same staff members working - 1:15 pm is the time that we visited - so it took 10 Minutes before we were even greeted despite seeing the server standing to the side staring and chatting with the cook - looking at us... ? No smile no I will be right with you .. nothing. Anyway it is a sad day when you walk in and are greeted after 10 min and then it is with an attitude and " it's going to be a 45 min wait" in a tone that says "please leave I don't want to serve you" If I was the owner I would terminate the servers here, totally unacceptable! If I operated my business like this I would be bankrupt. Had we been told in a different tone and attitude we would have been happy to wait however given the total lack of service I will NEVER visit this location again!! NOTE to THE OWNERS OF THIS LOCATION: Given the time that we are in and the fact that many restaurants have not been able to make it and sadly have had to close I personally I would count it a blessing that you have been able to survive this pandemic and not take your customers for Granted! After all WE ARE YOUR PAYCHECK! There are many unemployed people right now that would be happy to take a position as a server and provide excellent customer service - I don't understand the reasoning behind keeping someone who is going to represent your business in such a way as these employees have. Where to start ..... 1) The server, Lois not wearing a mask which is in violation of State regulations and Company policy. When confronted about it, I was told, "I'm expect from wearing one." Place is an absolute joke. I ordered it pretty basic. Couple eggs a rib-eye steak and hash browns. I waited close to 40 minutes and then politely asked the server when I could expect my food. Seems they process all the take-out order first. When she approached the lady at the grill who so happened to be the manager as well and ask her how long my food would take she started mouthing off and I overheard her. I ended up paying for the steak and asking the server to donate it to a homeless person. Not worth the stop here folks. Move right on down the road there's plenty of other options just down the road in Marshall. Placed our order after having to repeat it at least 3 times and argue with the waitress about what it said on the menu. Then about 30 minutes to get cold eggs and more coffee. I had to get up myself to chase down creamer and sweetener while my coffee got cold. The waffle plate my husband ordered came with no waffle and by the time he got it, he had eaten everything else. So sad!! It's been over 15 years since I have been in a huddle house. It's attached to a gas station. Nothing like Waffle House at all. Most of the waitresses are horrible. Jacklynn, our waitress, was good at her job, and our tip reflected it. The sweet cakes are gigantic, the scrambled eggs were cooked exactly how I like them, but the bacon didn't have much flavor. Even the coffee improved since the first time I tried this place. Cons: one waitress wasn't wearing a mask, and she was serving food. She did have gloves on, but it's doubtful she changed them from ringing people up at the register to serving food. Even with a declaration on the door about mandatory masks - Gov Abbott's orders - many patrons came right on in without any covering, and were not asked to don them. We have been looking forward to eating there since we got a mailer. Prices are average for the selections. Went today for the first time with high expectations. We seated and given menus. We ordered two burgers with melted cheese and fries and an appetizer of jalapeno poppers. One water and one tea with no lemon. The waitress didn't write down anything and walked away without a word. After rather long wait a server put both plates on the table and walked away. The tea with no lemon had two large lemon slices, no silverware, no appetizer, nothing else. I asked about the poppers and was told they were out. I would have ordered another appetizer had I known that. We had pretty much finished our drinks when the food arrived. They were never refilled and had no human contact at all until I took the ticket to the register. A word was never spoken...no "was everything okay...did you enjoy your meal....kiss my @ss"....nothing. All these were little things but by the time we left we felt like we had been a annoying distraction. Today is Sunday, January 16, 2022, mid morning....we stood at the door for 5-7 minutes waiting on a table to be cleared. Once seated we sat at our table another 10 just waiting to be acknowledged. Finally receiving our coffee our order was taken once we raised our voices for not being waited on. I understand shortness of employees but when you have one guy doing everything and the other floor hand only checking people out. This place will never make it!!!! We visited during spring break and boy did the cool and waitress work hard. They told management they needed more help but they didn't listen. They had to turn away guest because they we overwhelmed. My wife and I went to the Jefferson location last Saturday morning for breakfast. The place was busy and this wasn't a problem so we waited for a table. When we were finally seated we asked the waitress for coffee we were told it was being brewed. After this we were forgotten or ignored, not sure which. There were three other tables seated after us and one received their food while we were still waiting for the waitress to come take our order. After 45 minutes of waiting I told my it was time to go elsewhere where we might not be invisible. I know now why this place has such a shitty reputation with the locals and I will never bother spending my money in any huddle house restaurant or recommend it to anybody read more
