I came by as really needed a chicken fried steak which is not an easy find in Seattle. But, I ordered it with 2 eggs over medium with hash browns and toast. I posted picture as couldn't wait so not a glamor shot- the steak and gravy was pretty good. A uniform steak and breading not Texas quality but I ate the whole thing. Eggs were cooked medium as requested and got endless coffee refills. Mission accomplished as steak was cut with fork and loved every bite.

Thanksgiving dinner special menu

Packed on Thanksgiving for lunch, but still promptly seated for three. I love that they had Thanksgiving specials as well as the regular menu. I was seated before the rest of my party, which was very convenient. My server still checked on me as I waited. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was moist and savory as usual. Great place! Always recommend for that hometown diner-style meal.

The food is really good, tasty comfort food. Portions here are huge! I ordered a light meal but still ended up with leftovers. The diner has a nice, chill vibe with that cozy, hometown feel. The server was super friendly and checked in often to make sure everything was good. Great spot for friends or family. I'll definitely come back!

I grew up coming here with my family. We have been coming here for 20+ years, the place still looks the same. Food is always tasty with fast and friendly service. A true diner treasure in the heart of Burien.

Despite the rush of Sunday brunch, the quality of the food and superb customer service at Huckleberry Square did not waver. We waited for only about 10 minutes for a table for 4. The restaurant definitely had that "diner" feel to it, with booth seating throughout. The menu is expansive, so there is sure to be an option for everyone. Our party was so happy with the food that we ordered, which included pancakes, hashbrowns, an omelette, and more. The main highlight was the chicken and biscuits (MUST TRY!). The only negative thing about our visit was that the waffle was too hard, as if it were overcooked. Our waitress was kind and attentive. She provided updates on the progress of out meal and checked in with us frequently. They were also on top of refilling our cups of coffee without us having to ask. We were met with kindness throughout our visit to Huckleberry Square. I also love how they have a "Giving Wall" where you can buy a meal for someone in need. It's clear that this restaurant hires only the best employees and cares about giving back to the community. I will certainly come back (with friends/family) to try the rest of the menu!!!

Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs

I used to frequent this restaurant with my family as a little girl. I had not visited in decades so I was extremely excited to go back. The restaurant is exactly as I remembered it. The interior is cozy and reminiscent of restaurants in the eighties with solarium seating in the front. My hubby and I arrived at opening time on a Saturday and there was already a crowd in the parking lot, waiting to get in. The waitstaff was quick and professional...not as friendly or chatty as I remembered in my youth. The menu selection was ample and Hubby and I both ordered Huckleberry Mimosas to start off our morning. They were okay and we only took a few sips before setting them aside. The coffee is what one would expect at any diner (acidic and bitter). One cup is enough, unless you're recovering from a previous wild night. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs, as I had been looking forward to it for a few days. The chicken fried steak had a really great initial crunch (which I always look for), the flavor was savory and the portion was large. The gravy was thick but it wasn't homemade. It had that "came out of a can" flavor. The hash browns were previously frozen but had a great crunch as well. The eggs really had no flavor. My husband ordered sausage and eggs and said the sausage was quite good. He also mentioned that the hash browns definitely came out of a bag. I took mine home as possible leftovers for later. Was it worth a thirty minute drive on a Saturday morning? No. It was simply a trip down memory lane. The prices are quite a bit higher (to be expected) and the food isn't as great as I remembered....but as a kid, maybe I just didn't have as much food experience. Would I go again? To be perfectly honest, probably not. There are so many other restaurants in the Burien area that have truly raised the restaurant bar to heights that Huckleberry Square may never be able to attain (and, yes, that saddens me). But if you're having a moment of eighties nostalgia and want large portions and quick service...I would recommend it.

This place has such a homey, PNW diner vibes! It's huge with great indoor and window sweating. Highly recommend anything huckleberry and the service is quick. Omelette was amazing and the sausage was to die for!

Desserts and drinks menu

Huckleberry has been around for as long as I can remember. The environment is cozy and homey. The service is always friendly and almost always excellent. Prices are generally reasonable. Food is always good. Now, keep in mind, this is an old restaurant and the demographic they cater to is often older, but they did revamp their menu and dishes to accommodate a younger crowd. They used to have some dishes that could literally have been served at a hospital, and now it all looks "restaurant". But even then, the food has always been good. Portions are always plenty - generally not monstrous, but not skimpy either. You'll leave full. You'll probably have a to-go box. Overall, whether you're from the area or stopping through, Huckleberry Square is a safe bet. Although, it gets really busy and there could be a wait.

A big old piece of Huckleberry Cheesecake

My golly! Some of their menu items aren't that great. Hot turkey sandwich with gravy, cranberry sauce, and on a big piece of Texas toast? Well, why is the turkey ALWAYS dry as the proverbial bone? That's disappointing. The turkey dinner is the same. However! Tonight, a friend treated me to a dinner here for my birthday (last Wednesday). I got the 10? 12 ounce Sirloin steak with green beans and a loaded baked potato. This is not something I can have very often because I have cirrhosis and my liver just won't put up with a lot of fat. But, this was so worth it! The potato was crispy on the outside and flaky and delicious on the inside. I ordered it loaded, except for sour cream and it was exactly what I needed. The steak was cooked medium-well and was juicy and flavorful. I brought some home for later. I don't know what the cook did to those fresh green beans but they were so good! I love green beans, anyway, but they are easy to screw up if you're not careful. Now, I'm craving a big container of them! LOL. The huckleberry cheesecake is a marvel! The "slab" is huge and in between writing this, I take little bites and savor the berries and slight lemony taste. I'm coming back here in a few months to order this again! Yes, I do actually have to wait several months before I can eat something like this amazing dinner. I can still get a waffle, too. Their Belgian waffles are thick! And Huckleberry Square has all sorts of delectable syrups. I like the boysenberry.

Ask the Community - Huckleberry Square

Do they serve breakfast all day?

Yes. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Planning to visit there soon. Saw the decorations pictures online. Wonder those decorations on wall , windows or front door represent ? What is the concept and market for this restaurant? Tks!

Never paid any attention to the wall decor.. the food is pretty good for a diner.. I eat there a couple times a month and always have good meals and service!

Do they have alcoholic beverages?

Yes but very limited on the Spirits

Great Mushroom Burger . Generous serving of Fries …read more Potent Stout An outstanding meal!

The last time that I came here was in 2015. I gave this 3 stars. For this review, if I had to…read moreselect a title it would be "disappointment". My husband and I were visiting the Burien Farmer's Market and decided to stop in for lunch here. The day before our area experienced a heat wave. Apparently this effected this place of business. There were fans going everywhere, no a/c in place; I was hesitant to enter and I should have gone with my instincts. It wasn't awful so that we couldn't stand it, so we stayed. We had a very friendly waitress, wish I could remember her name but she was very good. I ordered a peach tea and my husband ordered a cider, I believe it was pineapple and another fruit based. I ordered the Ahi Taco Wrap and my husband ordered the Luna Fish and Chips. My husband's drink arrived with an apology from another server as she poured the wrong drink for him. He was gracious and took it anyway. Out come our plates. I tasted my husbands fish and found it seriously lacking in flavor; nothing great here. Now let's get to my Ahi wrap; I had serious issues with this. This includes tuna, avocado, cilantro lime coleslaw with chipotle aioli and lime on the side. House made chips and salsa were included. The wrap was hugely disappointing. The ratio of tuna to coleslaw was seriously off. 90 percent of this wrap was coleslaw. The chips weren't fresh and the salsa was just ok, had a sweet type of base, which I don't like in my salsa. The lime included was stale and I couldn't get a drop out of this. The chipotle was so so. The coleslaw had no distinctive cilantro lime flavor. This dish was entirely disappointing and priced at 19.95. Never again. My husband's dish had two pieces of fish and was priced at 18.50. So after the cost of the drinks, the meal was over 60. Shame on us for a few things: 1. For not looking closely at the prices 2. And for most importantly, for simply not grabbing a decently priced hot dog at the farmers market. I'm positive this would have been better and a better deal. We will not be back to this place. The only reason I gave this a one star was for the waitress and the peach tea. Seriously.
