Dr Hu was not only my doctor and my siblings doctor but now he is the doctor for all the grand babies. We love him and his staff. They always accommodate the best they can and listen to what we have to say. Dr Hu listens to us when talking about our concerns and he will run every test if he thinks it's best and if it is something we are asking for. He informed us about the vaccines that he has to offer but he left the choice up to us as the parents. He saved my brothers life when he was a baby when not even the ER would take in an infant who has turning blue because of asthma. My mother called ever doctor and Dr Hu said "leave the ER and bring him to me NOW! He truly saved his life. When I had my daughter he was at the hospital as soon as I delivered and same with my nephew, he told every one of us and the hospital doctors and nurses that these babies are HIS babies and that any and everything about them is to go to him first and he will deem what is necessary. When I have a question or I am confused about his plan of action him and his staff always take the time to explain it to me in an understanding way but even then I know that in the end it is my decision. We've been seeing Dr. Hu since my son was born, he just turned a year. He's very understanding and knowledgeable. Has always answered our questions and been more than accommodating. The staff is always very helpful and on top of things and so available. I've called when my son was sick and they are super helpful over the phone and always ready to see him if needed. I absolutely love Dr Hu. My 4 children have been going to him for more than 7 years now. He is good with kids, but most importantly he doesn't take any chances. He explains things well and my FAVORITE advantage is that I can call any day they are in the office and they will fit me in! The wait is never long either. I appreciate same day appointments!!!! I like this office very much. Never had an issue with the billing either which is nice. Dr Hu always tells me what to look for when he's evaluating my children. If I bring them in for something he will explain why they need medicine or why they don't and what to look for. His thoroughness is the reason why I knew my daughter needed help immediately when she woke up with symptoms he has told me to watch for. Kawasaki disease! He got us right into the hospital. I just really appreciate him! PS. I'm not pro-vaccine. I believe my daughter was vaccine injured. Terrible doctor. He gave my son vaccines that were not required by the state of California even though my husband and I specifically told him we did not want those for our child. He does what ever he wants and does not consider or listen to what parents have to say. He talks and talks and never listens. If you want a pediatrician to listen to you as a parent and let you advocate for your child then this is not the pediatrician you need. First off my son has almost every vaccine other than this second dose of MMR, I'm not against vaccines. But my son had a major reaction to his first MMR shot so when it came time for a second dose before school I talked with Dr Hu about getting an exemption, he told me the website to go file the exemption and then when I needed him to file his portion of the exemption he refused. I tried to remind him of our conversation before my son had 105 degree fever for days and rashes for 4 months. I tried to show him pictures and he just talked over me and wouldn't look at my photos. I told him I'm advocating for my child and he had the audacity to say he was as well. Well Dr Hu.... No you're not advocating for any child when you yourself and your office has yet to do the education to be able to file an exemption for any child that has a major reaction to a vaccine. You're pushing parents into thinking they have no other choice and it is wrong! read more

My son has been a patient of Dr Hu since his birth 4.5 years ago. This morning he woke up with possible pink eye symptoms. We have self quarantined since suggested in CA due to Corona Virus. Dr Hu office refused to see him as it wasnt just a wellness visit and suggested we take him to urgent care exposing him to all the other illnesses floating around. Dr. Hu was recommended to me and has been my children's pediatrician since birth, which is over 7 years now. He is patient, professional, accommodating and the care he takes with my children is what keeps us in his practice. I've never had to worry with such a competent professional looking after the healthcare needs of my family. So very sad to write this review! I have been taking my children to Dr Hu for 16 years! Not sure what happened today, he misunderstood just about everything I said! Was in a big hurry, basically said I was a bad mother! Said he would not see my children unless we do our annual check up. Understand we do not go every year now that they are teenagers but we go every few years! I was shocked when he said he would not see us anymore! I said ok it was time anyway to go to our family dr anyway and boy did that set him off! It really is about money! So sad! We waited an hour for him to tell me I was a bad mother! If you do go to him make sure he doesn't bill your insurance twice or incorrectly! So disappointed I supported this Dr for 16 years helping build his practice with great reviews, as my friends said it was weird how he wore a mask while he was examining their child or how he was impatient and always in a rush or how he would not explain things well and when you ask, it was a bother to him to explain what was going on with your child!! Dr. Hu and his staff are just the best! We had a first time parents "emergency" 5pm on a Friday, Dr. Hu happened to be the Dr. on-call, and set our minds at ease. We were plenty relieved that we didn't have to go to the hospital, but ultra happy when he TEXTED us the following morning just to check in on baby girl. So nice to have a doctor who really cares about his patients. The girls in the front office are always very understanding and patient with us when we get a little excited (first timers remember) and we always leave with peace of mind. I would avoid Dr. Hu and his unprofessional staff at all costs. Redding had several other well qualified options in town. First, Dr. Hu comes across very rude and condescending during the office visits. Second, Priority number one for that business is making money and that is very evident every time you show up at the office. Third, the constantly rotating office staff is not only hard for the kids, as there are often new, unfamiliar faces, but also a further indication of the challenging office environment. Definitely don't ever ask to have your medical records transferred to a more competent Dr. as they will not only make it difficult but also charge you over $50 to have copies made. read more

After my daughter being admitted to the hospital by this doctor (as he was the pediatrician on call) and being transferred to our regular doctor (whom we love) i attempted to schedule a follow appointment for my daughter as some complications arose after her discharge and i was told this was the doctor who would see my daughter while hers was on vacation. His staff scheduled an appointment and i received a phone call from him stating he would not see my daughter and i would have to schedule with the doctor on call. He was extremely rude and stated that my doctor was wrong in telling me he was the one who would help us. I would never recommend him to anyone, as he was extremely unhelpful in a time of crisis with my infant daughter. In the event of an emergency i would hope that he would be a more understanding human being, however i was very wrong! read more

Dr Hu is our pediatrician. I'm a first-time mom and I have not been to any other pediatricians, so the only other one I have to compare to was the lady who saw us in the hospital after the birth (who I was not a fan of). Dr. Hu often seems to be in a hurry and talks fast, but as I get to know him more I am seeing that this is just a mannerism of his rather than him trying to rush me through the appointment or not having enough time for us. He has been very nice, though we have not had to see him for any significant health problems yet-- just well visits and vaccines. read more

I have had nothing but a great experience with Dr. HU. The Dr and his staff always makes us feel as if we are his only priority. I always get same day appointments when my children are sick, he has offered to come in on the weekends, if my child got worse. He happened to be closed due to construction but he took my call. He had me bring her in and examined her. He is always informative and is willing to give you options as a parent. When my pediatrician retired, he recommended Dr Hu. I could not be happier with his staff and most of all, Dr. Hu. My children were patients of his for nearly 20 years. When my daughter was born in 1999 he was even there for her birth - on a Saturday afternoon during Rodeo Week! My kids are now 23 and 18. It was always easy to schedule appointments, be seen quickly, and referrals to specialists always went smoothly. When our youngest was 2 weeks old she got very sick. Rushed to the ER. They had to do a spinal tap and blood work. The doctor on call (Dr. Hu) didn't like our daughters numbers that came back. He admitted her and we were blown away immediately. He went above and beyond for our baby. We have never felt so secure in somebody with their medical opinion. (And I question everyone) We were so impressed we asked to have him be our Primary. He accepted our family into his practice and we have been seeing him for the past 8 years now. Our oldest at the time was 3. She's loved him ever since. Our girls refuse to see anyone else. And I mean refuse. He makes them feel safe. He takes the time at each appointment to ask them how life is. He listens to all of my concerns no matter how busy his office is outside of that room. His staff is very complimentary and accommodating to my entire family. They know I'm a bit of a germ freak. When the girls were young, especially our youngest, he never made us wait in the waiting room with the other sick children. He took us back to a clean room ASAP. He has gone above and beyond for is on many different occasions. He's even called us over the weekend when one of our daughters had a walking pneumonia to educate us on what to look for throughout the night. Knowing how worried I was. He wasn't even the on call doc that weekend. I am that mom that always fears a vaccine reaction. He has educated me so many times without making me feel like a crazy person. Or pushing anything on me. We like to say he gives our girls the million dollar workup. He never misses a thing. We always joke if he ever moved we would follow. This is my first time doing a Yelp review. I created this profile just because I am so appreciative of the service my son gets from Dr. Hu. He is by far the BEST doctor I have ever had for my kids. Last night we called Dr.Hu because I was pretty sure my 9 month old had pink eye, he called back with recommendations that we tried. He then called us at 9 am this morning and wanted us to bring our son to his office so he could examine him (on 4th of July weekend!)
