I know how hard it is to find an MD willing to take on new patients. My primary care Physician, Dr Hardy retired and I requested to be accepted by Dr Aung. It was a while before he had room to add me but I am very pleased that I was accepted. Dr. Aung has an outstanding exam/ bedside manner. He always asks LOTS of questions and has a good sense of humor, which I feel comfortable with. My wife and I are both patients of this excellent physician and I have recommended him often, although it may be a while before you get on the list. Redding needs more like Dr Aung. read more

My new insurance told me Dr. Aung was my new primary care physician. I called for an initial appointment. I was told I needed to fill out an application, which I did. I was then told that they were not accepting any new patients. Why have me fill out the application then? I think like another reviewer stated that Aung's office screens patients for prior conditions and doesn't want to help "difficult" situations, cherry-picking simple patients. I now agree that this is his policy. read more

This isn't regarding the doctor himself but his office staff. I called because I got a bill for my mother who passed away in November. The gal who answered the phone was extremely unprofessional and insensitive. I stated that my mom passed away and she didn't have an estate. The lady replied, oh well I don't do the billing so you're going to have to call back. So I asked if she can just relay the message for me because these phone calls aren't exactly easy to make. She replied no and they will continue to bill. I again said there is no money to be able to pay it. She just kept saying she has nothing to do with this and I need to handle it myself by talking to the manager and how they will send out another bill. If the doctor allows his office to treat his patients' families like this, I can only imagine how he treated my mom while in his care at the facility. I absolutely will be calling back to speak with the manager also. read more

My mother has been seeing Dr. Aung for several years and he has seen her through many issues. He is a very good diagnostician. Several years ago another doctor performed surgery on her and at her follow-up a week later complained there was a problem. He explained he was the doctor and didn't make mistakes. The pain was normal. Two days later she had a previously scheduled appointment with Dr. Aung on a different issue. She explained the pain and he sent her for tests immediately. Before she had even made it home from the tests, Dr. Aung called and sent her to the ER. There wasn't complete closure from the surgery and bile was getting into her stomach. (NOTE: the surgeon didn't catch it!!) Dr. Aung saved her from who knows what. It was a multiple-month recovery as it was. He is a very caring man who's patients are not just numbers! read more

My wife and I have been his patients for years. Dr. Aung is an amazingly insightful Dr. and an excellent family physician. He'll take the time to listen to your symptoms and then he'll make his decisions, order any tests that are medically required or refer you to a specialist if he feels that's necessary. That has him running behind schedule at time but having a competent family and internal medicine Dr. who forms his opinions after actually listening to what you tell him is well worth the wait. read more

This place discriminates against patients. I am new to the Redding area about 6 months. Shortly after moving here unfortunately I had to get a surgery done. After going to Shasta Orthopedics and them telling me they wanted to amputate my leg I went to UC Davis Foot and Ankle Sports Medicine Orthopedics for a second opinion. They were able to fuse my ankle and save my leg. They told me I needed to establish a primary care so I contacted this office. After having to wait a week to see if they accept me as a patient they called me and told me they won't deal with anybody that takes opioids. I stated I was recovering from a surgery just a a month ago and they still wouldn't help me. This place is a total joke they discriminate and are prejudiced I would not suggest going there read more

My wife and I first met Dr. Than Aung when he was my Mother's primary care physician. Because of the quality of service we observed with my mother Dr. Aung is now out primary care physician. Dr. Aung is thorough, caring and makes sure that my concerns are heard and my questions are answered. He explains each procedure and makes sure that I understand what is going to happen. I have been a patient of Dr. Aung's for a couple of years. His office is very unassuming, a converted old house. It reminds me of the office of my family doctor from 60 years ago. Dr. Aung is also very old-school. He takes his time, asking lots of questions while doing a thorough physical exam. I recently had a condition arise which prompted me to call for for an unscheduled visit. I called on Thursday afternoon and was told the office was open until 11:45 am on Friday. There were no appointments available, but I could drop in between 9 and 11. I arrived at 9, expecting a long wait. To my surprise, I was roomed, examined, had an ekg, further examined, received a prescription and an order for blood work and was out the door by 10:30! How many medical offices actually accept drop-ins anymore? I can't express how refreshing it is to receive actual CARE from a doctor. Five Stars! read more

I first found out about Dr. Aung when mother needed an Internist. We both found him very personable and intelligent about the medical field with a great sense of humor. I have been a patient of his for about 7 years and just recently my husband became one of his many patients. We appreciate that he is in our area and our insurance Network because he truly is one of the most knowlegable and campashionet doctor of Internal Medicine in the Northstate between Redding and Sacramento. My husband and I moved here upon retiring and were referred to Dr. Aung. We had to fill out an application and were told we would be contacted shortly. Over three weeks and two calls later, I was told that our application had not been reviewed yet and it would be awhile before this would be done and furthermore, even if we were accepted as patients---we would not be seen until October! (It is now May). This office only sees a couple of new patients a week, but current patients can obtain an appointment whenever they need it. Ridiculous!! read more
