He constantly complained about the California government causing many refugees, griped about insurance being unfair, and asked unrelated questions like how much you pay for your insurance. when I requested a referral, he refused to refer me to the specialist I wanted to see. instead, the specialist he referred me had poor reviews as him because I did research beforehand. I had an uncomfortable experience seeing Dr. Hsu. I had bronchitis and he was listening to my lungs. Different from the countless of doctors who listened to my lungs before, he pressed his stethoscope right on top of the middle of my left breast. Before I had time to react, he moved on to my right breast with his fingers making contact with my breasts. It is hard enough being sick, and to have to spend the mental energy to process this. Before you consider to go to Dr. Hsu, read my recent experience with him. Dr. Hsu was our primary doctor for decades before we went to other doctors, we came back to him some times in past years. This time, I called him on Saturday because urgent care didn't help for my wife's situation, and I know him will open on Saturday. We talked on phone, and asked me to go asap, I drove 80mph on freeway for 35mins to get there in time. We we arrived, ring the bell at the window, he showed up and said you folks have not been here for some times now, where have you been for medical need. I replied we've been to other doctors and named recent one. And he said "he is nearby why don't you go to him now", I said his office closed right now. and he repeated that doc. is nearby, you can to to him. And I said again, his office is closed in weekend. Then he said, I can't see you, and repeatedly told us to go to the doc. We left then, wondering if he is still a doctor or? Despite of we been his old patient for years, and doctor's ethic, he could refuse me over the phone when I called, instead of urge me there asap, and refused me in my face, questioning me why I went to other doctor before today? I had a routine medical checkup with Dr. Hsu. Making an appointment was simple and quick, and his response was fast. He is very approachable in person, and will explain and show how he reaches his diagnosis. Lab report also came back fast. Aetna insurance covered most of my expense with little copay. The main downside would be that his clinic only has a limited set of tools at his disposal for any serious/unusual medical illness, but for simple checkups his service is excellent. read more

If I could leave a -10 review, I would. This is the most UNPROFESSIONAL, INCOMPETENT doctor I've ever encountered in my life. I went into his office for an annual, routine physical that should have been covered 100% by my insurance. But this pathetic man decides to file my blood test for "anemia" or something along the lines of "skin problems". I did NOT have skin problems, and I already knew that I was anemic. It doesn't make sense that I would even mention those things. In the end, I had to pay out of pocket and he REFUSED to notify my insurance. There were several times I went to visit him due to some issues I was experiencing, and he never remembered my face, or he would forget what he told me the previous visit and would DIAGNOSE ME WITH THE SAME THING He has absolute NO respect for his patients and does not even put in the littlest effort to get to understand them. I'm not even going to refer to this guy as "Doctor" Hsu. Let's go with Mr. Hsu, because he's clearly not qualified. I went in for three issues: ear had been stuffed for a few days, whitish spots on my skin by my neck, and lingering ankle soreness from basketball. He did absolutely nothing for every issue, but referred me to an ear specialist, a foot specialist, and said that I would need to go to a lab for a blood test for the spots. I refused to believe that I could get no verbal information on any of the issues bothering me. Instead, he railed against the Affordable Care Act (or ObamaCare) the entire time. He did, however, charge my insurance company $200. Immediately right afterwards, I went down the street to Dr. Frank Shin, who was easily the best doctor I have ever been to. He explained every issue that I had and said that there was no need to see any specialists. He cleared out my ear by using a small stick (probably a more scientific name) within a few minutes! The spots he explained and proscribed some medicine that cleared them up within a few days. Dr. Shin charged $140 to my insurance company and actually DID something! Do NOT go to Mr. Hsu. read more

Dr. Hsu was super fast emailing lab reports to me and answering my follow-up questions. While some doctors may hold your lab reports for days, Dr. Hsu did it on the same day for me. If you are anxious in finding results he is the doctor to get back to you fast. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Hsu regularly for over 10 years. I have some issues and he has properly diagnosed them after getting blood test and ultrasound results. When I've been sick, he's given me what I need (antibiotics, whatever). He consults with me about my issues and offers very good suggestions. He correctly diagnosed a coworker of mine with colon cancer and he was treated properly. He seems a bit pragmatic but that doesn't bother me. I've learned from his suggestions (use povidine iodine on deep wounds, not hydrogen peroxide!) I've never shown him my penis (proably should but it seems fine to me!) and I don't have breasts, so I don't know about the 1 star reviews regarding those things. BUT, most of you 1-star reviewers are disgusting. Here's my respose to YOU: HEARTBURN GIRL: He did the right thing for you. 20-30% of the US has acid reflux. I do and never needed a doctor to explain it to me. Exercise probably would help, like he told you. If it was anxiety/stress, exercise still would have probably helped. He referred you to a cardiologist to make sure nothing *worse* is wrong, and that doc probably would have confirmed your (SO important) heartburn issue. SORE ANKLE BOY: He did the right thing 100%. He wanted blood tests *before* diagnosing the white spots in order to make a good diagnosis. I'm so glad that the other doc was less conservative and didn't request blood tests to confirm his diagnosis. Put a brace on your ankle and/or stop playing ball for a bit... You probably didn't even go to a specialist for that as he recommended, huh? Dr. Hsu is an internist with a very small operation... He'll send you to a foot doctor so he can go and find people's cancers (like my co-worker had diagnosed by Dr. Hsu). Alexis L: He couldn't REMEMBER YOU? He keeps files on all patients (or at least on me) and EVEN IF HE DIDN'T RECOGNIZE YOUR PRETTY FACE THAT YOU'RE SO PROUD OF, he still should (and I trust, would) have a file on you with your name at the top. Bleeding/bruising after a blood draw can happen, and the prevention is to apply pressure to close the wound. Did you? (He tells me to!) Did you smack your arm on the way out of the office? Anyway, that is a fairly common issue (especially with cops taking blood because of DUI - they just don't care) that usually just goes away (as yours did). Dr. Hsu has drawn my blood many times and never any issue. When he does, my finger pressure goes on the bandage right as he removes his own finger pressure, and I leave the pressure on like he says. Did he treat you differently somehow? Do you have weak blood vessels or some problem that would prevent the clotting or cause easy bruising? He misdiagnosed me. I explained my symptoms and he said it was probably stress, that he sees a lot of people with these symptoms and tells them to relax and play sports. He wrote a prescription to see a cardiologist. I asked specifically if this could be something with the digestive system: acid reflux, problems with the esophagus, a hernia, and he said no and was very dismissive about this. I went to another doctor who examined me, said he thought it was acid reflux and tested me to be sure. That's what it was and I take a commonly used OTC medicine and feel so much better. I remember how he dismissed me and wonder about all his other patients out there feeling lousy because of this doctor. This doctor was an expensive waste of time and I am glad I did not have something more serious. read more

He should be disqualified as a doctor! I went for a blood draw two weeks ago. Day after, my arm felt sore and became bruising. Even worse after, my arm and elbow were bruising all over. I went back to see him and he just ignore the fact saying it's ok, it's normal....just a little bit blood coming out underneath the skin. He didn't take any action or even comfort me. He didn't show any concern nor professionalism. My arm was sore for 2 weeks and couldn't carry anything heavy. If this is normal case after a simple blood draw, how patient can trust him to diagnose serious problem. I will never go back. The experience is horrible! read more

Dr. Hsu has been my family doctor for more than 20 years. Dr. Hsu is awesome and he is my idea of the perfect doctor. He's smart, kind, caring, and very knowledgeable and always there when you need him. He always friendly and professional, he asks the right questions and wants to get to the root cause of issues rather than just treat the symptoms like most doctors. Dr. Hsu knows so much, and he's quick to refer to the correct specialist when that's what is needed. Dr. Hsu has been able to diagnose issues when other doctors have not been able to. No matter how busy he is, Dr. Hsu calls you to let you know the test/exam results as soon as the results are available. I absolutely feel comfortable with Dr. Hsu! read more

I had minor cough and visited him and he gave me some strong medicine which does not help and m cough got much stronger and stronger. I visited him several times hoping some helpful solutions but nothing worked. I ended up cough-passed-out 40+ times, almost died. He suggested me to take blood tests. My insurance cover all the lab test bill, but he want to help to take my blood and his charge is not covered by the insurance. He also suggested other tests, none of them turn out to be any useful. Dr Hsu should not be a doctor.. not just that he is bad in his medical knowledge and skills, he is also terrible in his people skills, cleanliness of his place and behavior.. I went in to get a prescription for routine STD check.. I was in a hurry and i noticed he was the nearest doctor to my office on the list of doctors on my Aetna insurance and was available right now for an appointment.. Guess why he was available and free so easily?? His office is dirty, looks like a old hut. His front desk woman cant speak much English, nor can Dr Hsu speak much English.. First, they didnt tell me they dont take credit cards , its cash only. Second, they cant call Insurance and cross check coverage using SSN while everybody else can.. So, he needed my Insurance ID card.. Finally, i get in , old dirty looking room. He signs me a prescription for couple blood/urine tests. Next when it comes to visual examination of my penis for chances of any infections/sores. Damn, he is bit creepy too in his ways. He asks me take my pants down, i comply. He tries to stare at my penis without proper lights or gloves, finally he pulls out a old flashlight and couple gloves ..Then he says you have genital warts.. I was like god damn it!! how did that get that? I have heard that only way to notice genital warts is throw black light and they shine in the dark but when i asked about that to Dr .Hsu he had never heard about it.. I wasn't convinced, i went to a Urologist at the El Camino hospital, Los Gatos and he said, this is a perfectly healthy penis. Not only Hsu was terrible in his ways but also did a misdiagnosis. Thank god, i did not use any cream or pills as per his diagnosis. More than that, he told me $100, so my copay was 10% so $10, but he billed $190 to my insurance. thats a total fraud and then another fraud, He put a wrong date on the bill than the date of visit, the claim got rejected because my insurance changed from Aetna to Blue Cross. Finally, i noticed that on my Aetna webpage, called him and Aetna to sort it out, he was super rude, kept on yelling randomly to both me as well as the Aetna representative on phone. I bet he was trying to avoid his fraud by yelling and avoiding direct reasoning. I had to finally give him $90 cash and send the bill myself to Aetna for claim. What a horrible experience.. Stay away from him..The only people who go there are people who didnt do they there homework on yelp or found him as nearest on insurance website or local asian folks who feel safe to go to him. They are risking their health at such guys hands and aren't literate enough to know what he is. read more
