I'd gone to HSE for a couple of years and had good experiences. The last visit I was sitting in a room waiting for a doctor and overheard a huge argument between one of the doctors and a patient - sure people can get frustrated or have a bad day or whatever but, never in my life have I heard a doctor yelling and using curse words at a patient - it was crazy. At a prior visits, I got a flu shot and when I attempted to pay with my HSA card (this is a Health Savings Account which I contribute funds into for medical expenses - it's basically a prepaid debit card). Anyway, they said I could not use the card. This made no sense at all and I had to pay out of pocket. read more

My Husband and I have been with Dr. Hofer since 2000. We tried to give it a chance when he left and Village took over and his PA Jennifer was still on staff. We have had nothing but problems from scheduling appointments, test results, office staff, Phone systems, receptionists on the phones, billing and web/portal issues. Also they had a problem with the med records and now they show illnesses and issues I don't have, and they will not or cannot remove . Now that Jennifer has left and moved on as has most of the old staff, we find our self in need of a new family practitioner after all these years. We do not recommend this Doctors office. Village Medical is nothing but a hassle and a headache. read more

Beware. I went in for annual check up to get blood work done. I was asked series of questions by the nurse. I shared with her that I am stressed over situation with my son. The PA told me if I want to try anxiety pill . I said no and she said just try it and if you don't like it, you don't have to take it. Then I get a bill for behavioral assessment. I talked to office manger who told me anytime they prescribe medication, they charge assessment fee. Be very careful what you discuss with them. They are looking for ways to charge extra fees. read more

We've been coming to HSE Medical Associates for over 14 years; but we're leaving now thanks to the Village Medical take-over. I'm looking for another medical practice that answers the phone when you call to schedule an appointment. A friend of mine recently had to go in personally to make an appointment because getting to a real person is a thing of the past. The treatment rooms used to feel like home with personal wall decorations. There was a very large and attractive Salt Water Aquarium in the waiting room area. Thanks to Village Medical all of the treatment rooms have been stripped and are now bare, plain, uninviting and drab. I felt welcome and  like family at HSE Medical Associates. Village Medical has ruined that. If you are looking for a doctor make sure they are NOT affiliated with Village Medical. read more

Dr. Perossa started seeing my adult son late June. Due to a medical issue, I was included in my son's treatment. Let me just say, Dr. Perossa is an EXCEPTIONAL doctor. He does not believe in that "hot, fast, and cheap," office visit. Dr. Perossa takes as much time as needed to make sure he knows everything that's going on with you and develop a treatment plan. He will order an many blood tests as needed. More importantly, he is humble enough to tell you when something is outside of his medical expertise; but rest assure, he will make sure he refers you to an expert in that field. His nurses/med techs are extremely nice. Dr. Perossa's bedside manners are exemplary. I would be willing to pay out-of-pocket for Dr. Perossa's service if I did not have insurance. If you are looking for an amazing Internal Medicine doctor, do yourself a favor and contact Dr. Perossa's office. read more

Update, WTF I fired HSE as my primary doctor. I told the nurse to tell my Dr basically F-off. Two weeks later I get a letter in the mail stating I am no longer to return to HSE! Haha funny because I fired them. GET THIS, my wife had a different doctor at HSE "a female dr". They stated in the same letter that SHE IS NO LONGER WELCOME TO GO TO HER FEMALE DR BECAUSE OF MY ACTIONS! What a trash POS company. I have to take back this compliment. Totally. My daughter was sick and I tried to make an appointment (good luck if you work or kids don't get out of school until 345) with them. Their latest appointment time is 3pm. Totally stupid. When I show up, I forgot their insurance card with my wife, I explained that I have a picture I can email and they can print out as proof of coverage. Here is where it gets interesting. They then proceeded to tell me that there is a "law on the books" that they have to have a physical card or they cannot LEGALLY do anything. I asked for paperwork on the law because I am in the healthcare industry. However the "paperwork" is just their policies in reaction to the red flag rule which is to protect the business against fraud. Apparently me being a patient and my daughter being new made me look like a scam artist. So I rush to get the card because its now 3 pm and they don't see new patients after 3 pm, ever, and I do a little reading about the "red flag bill", not law, and find out that they in fact LIED to me. So I call and tell them how dissatisfied I am with them lying to me and making me jump through hoops to help my sick daughter. keep in mind I pulled them from school to be seen. She said that it is their "policy" not to take a paper form of insurance. WTfreak does that mean? I said they could have called united and they would have been more than happy to validate the insurance and she replied "we don't verify insurance here" I asked why and her reply was "we don't have the man power". Funny because when I walked in there they have count em, TWO , patients checked in and their staff were all standing around talking about some program from the previous night. I argued with her when she said I was misinformed about what was said when I clearly heard her. They are a bunch of LAZY, lying front office staff and frankly they don't deserve any business from people. I am writing their Director and the BBB over this issue is disinformation they gave me. I will update once I get resolution from their office director. It's a crying shame. They have a beautiful practice and great doctors. Shame their front office staff is the way they are. PLEASE READ: If I could give a zero I would. Do not waste your time coming here. The front desk is full of incompetent employees. Getting test results and referrals takes an eternity. Extremely frustrating working with them, I gave them so many opportunities and always had same results. my family members come here and had the same issue. This will be a long review in detail but for a quick overview: * Office Manager and everyone here is rude. No empathy or understanding *They don't follow up with test results. It's a long wait for everything. My family & I have been coming here and seeing Dr. Ermac for a few years. The most I've had to deal with personally is waiting long to see him. My mother & brother with autism on the other hand had their first worst experience recently once my mother was dealing with an infection and having medical concerns. She went in for testing and my brother had a physical done. (They never called my mom to give my brothers results) A week went by before my mother started calling to get an update on her results. The amount of times she called, got transferred and left messages to Dr.Ermacs assistant is unacceptable. My mom would call me upset because she was in pain with the infection she was experiencing and the assistant never got back to her once. She called at least 4 times, or more. She would tell the receptionist that she really needed to speak with the doctor or assistant because she had left multiple messages. Still, nothing. My mother decided she was done with HSE at the point and went into their office to get her medical records & results because she's been calling non stop, and they said she would need to speak with their office manager. She told my mother that Dr.Ermac has patients and he would take a while. She repeated it two times like if they wanted my mother to leave. My mother waited an hour and she thought they were going to lunch so she knocked on their door because no one was around. The office Manager was very rude. Telling my mother she told her to wait and that she didn't need her labs. Apparently they were leaving for the day. The office manager kept saying the doctor was with a patient and there was no one there. At that point, Dr.Ermac overheard the conversation between them and he came out nonchalant, making excuses and never once apologized. She never got her results or medical records. He came out with a paper he typed up with results that were not an official lab. Turns out she did have an infection and it showed on the results and no one ever followed up. My mother was frustrated & upset and the office handled it very poorly. We are not coming here anymore. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. After 20+ years, I honestly could not be more disappointed in how Dr. Hoefer and his staff treat patients. They never answer the phone, they don't returns calls, and the front office staff is a bunch of lazy ladies who are busy talking to each other. I stayed because Dr. Hoefer WAS an incredible doctor, but he clearly does not care like he use to. I understand Covid is real, but to say "we no longer see sick patients" is ridiculous. They are so sweet. They have a charging station.They also hace 2 waiting rooms .My daughter has been going here since she was 2 and still goes. We have never head a problem. Upstairs people are lovely as well. Everyone is so nice. Dr. Lindsey and Dr. Sarah are my favorite doctora. Here you are treated like they know you forever. Wait time is unbelievable. Front desk staff is unorganized and very unprofessional. I had a recent hospital stay and Dr. Perossa came to see me. I incurred a large bill from HSE and set up a payment plan. I asked for it to come out on a certain day of each month when my disability check arrived in my bank to make sure there would be no problems. I was told if there was a problem with that payment, my plan would be discontinued. I went in just now and was informed they wanted FULL payment because the payment plan was defaulted upon. Discovered that the lady who runs the payments (in her own words) "forgot" to run my payment until well past the date. I had been on vacation for 2 weeks and was unaware of what happened. I see this as a blessing since for some time now, I've been unhappy about their service and treatment I have received. I am happily searching for a new doctor. read more

This is the WORST place. Takes 14+ minutes for anyone to answer the phone to schedule an apt. They used to have a designated sick and healthy side in the waiting room....not anymore. One side is open and everyone is packed into an area with most seats taped off so people have to stand and are in the way of people checking in and trying to leave. I love Dr. DeBroeck! Have been going to him for 20+ years. Village Medical Center at Riata Ranch is beyond frustrating. I have been repeatedly calling every phone number associated with them all day. Phones ring endlessly until disconnecting. Saw Dr. DeBroeck today for annual check up and blood work. Edited all of the incorrect information that was on my paperwork and submitted it. Was told I would receive an email invitation to register in the portal. Did so. Took three times entering the various codes sent to my cell phone only to arrive at another page that said it would send a code to some bizarre phone number so that I could access my health records. Directions said to call my provider if the number was wrong. And there you go.... Do I have to take a day off of work and drive over there in order to get this fixed? What a joke!!! Came in for annual physical. Front desk staff was professional. Nurse had an attitude from the beginning. It seemed like she didn't want to be there or just didn't like her job!! Dr Harrison answered questions but in short not really explaining. This place is all about money. They treat you like cattle, fast in and out! Lab results came back and would even set up an appointment to go over the results with me. The only positive was when I went upstairs to give blood samples. They ladies were interactive and freindly. This 2 star review is LONG over due. This place is a true disappointment. POOR communication, after hours doctor spoke to me like I was garbage (Dr. Ermak) today and ZERO bedside manner. This was the "straw that broke the camel's back". I wish I had a recorder on my phone, he just told me "take the meds, don't take them, that's on you". I should have done more research on HSE. The staff is hit or miss with what they call "good" customer service. Most of the staff have major attitudes over the phone when you call, like WE are bothering them. The doctors are good so 3 stars! I always have to check the invoice to make sure it's billed properly. The front office staff is nice and helpful, they try to accommodate emergency appointments too but back office manager is also very rude! The biggest issue is they make us every couple of months for refills which means an out of pocket co-pay. They over charge for an office visit so even after a co-pay, and insurance, we have to pay an additional $40.00 out of pocket even in-network and most the time we see the RA and not the doctor. My husband has a rare disease and this is an unnecessary added expense. If they need him to run blood work before refilling then send him to the lab and call him in if necessary... they are just pushing for quick reoccurring visits just to bill. Seriously unhappy with their process and how much I have to pay them out of pocket. read more

This office is a joke. I went in as a new patient for a general check up. I arrived (as requested) 30 minutes early. I didn't get called until 1 hour after later (30 minutes after my appointment). Then I get asked to wait in a room. Well it took another hour for the doctor to finally show up. I had now been waiting for 2 hours! The doctor asked me a few questions and then sent me up for blood work (I was with the Dr. for 5 minutes max). Well, the results come back. I am asked to come back again. More waiting, more blood work. Same result. Instead of doing anything to actually HELP she just refers me off to a specialist. So, after all that, the Dr. doesn't even really do anything of value but did managed to collect 2 office visits. What a Joke! read more

The single star applies to the general friendliness I've experienced in the office. However, I cannot in good faith ever recommend that anyone place their medical fate in the hands of this group of people. I am at the tail end of a ridiculous chain of non-communication - meaning that I have called the office incessantly and either been put on hold indefinitely, transferred to an answering machine, hung up on, or spoken to rudely. It took exactly 19 days for the staff to fix a prescription/insurance issue that should have been corrected that same day. My pharmacist and I both called the office at varying times during those 19 days and got a variety of responses, ranging from outright inaccuracy regarding my issue to complete lack of interest. Also, I have to say that it's a completely insane policy that when someone is out of the office (for example, on a 2 hour lunch break), you CANNOT leave them a voicemail. Neither can you leave a verbal message with their coworkers. Oh, and business hours are 8:30a til 5:30p, as the answering service will tell you at 5:02p when they're telling you to call back during business hours. This is not an exaggeration. I was told on 4 separate occasions (during business hours) that I was not allowed to leave a message and that I would have to call back. In addition, on the rare occasion that I was able to leave a message, the voicemail that stated my call would be returned within 24 hours was a blatant lie. All in all, steer clear of this place, particularly if you suffer from anxiety. read more

This was my first visit to HSE Medical, a visit prompted by me after being told by my now-previous medical group that I needed to wait THREE AND A HALF WEEKS(!) to see a physician, despite what may be a serious medical issue. Are you kidding me? I was able to schedule an appointment with HSE Medical the same week I called (on a Friday at noon, no less), downloaded and filled out the requisite paperwork, so as to arrive with it completed, and was inside an examination room at 12:01 pm, one minute after the appointment time. Again, but on the positive side, are you kidding me? The very personable nursing assistant arrived within a few minutes to do the initial interview and take vitals. She was quite pleasant, notated all of my concerns, and answered every question I had without any hint of an off-putting attitude. Great job, Brandy! After another five minutes or so, the real star of the visit, Dr. David Hoefer, arrived. There is simply no way I can adequately describe just how professionally, compassionately, and intuitively Dr. Hoefer conducts himself. He exhibited a very refined consultive approach to each of my concerns, appeared to intuitively adapt to my level of anxiety, and never gave any impression whatsoever that he was in any rush to move on to the next appointment. Five stars to Dr. Hoefer! Even the lab team, who, given the lateness of the week and hour did not seem particularly pleased to see me, performed their duties quite flawlessly (and, most importantly, quite painlessly). Top to bottom, a major thumbs-up to all at HSE Medical. read more

A few things you should know about this practice. First, their building has a device in it that purposely blocks all cell phone and wireless signals. Second, no matter what time you book your appointment, you will be forced to sit in the waiting room for at least an hour before you are seen. That is a killer combo: you're trapped in a waiting room with no access to the outside world during business hours, and if you want a doctor to see you you just have to grin and bear it. And don't even dream of calling ahead of your appointment to see how long the wait is: if you're even a tiny bit late for your appointment, the surly and miserable staff will make a nasty comment and tell you to reschedule. Let me make this clear: this office makes it a matter of policy to force patients to wait an hour, and they do it purely out of malice. But the doctors must be good, right? No, they are not. Repeatedly the doctors have shown to have limited medical knowledge; the physician's assistant is smarter than the doctors but arrogant on a level not describable using the English language. Also, they show each patient their desire to make the visit as short as possible, regardless of whether they are confident in the diagnosis. Do not expect good medical advice from this place. In short, the staff is surly, stupid, and rude. The doctors are semi-educated (to put it kindly), and their waiting room policy demonstrates a conscious and active hatred for their patients. I had such a good experience with Dr. Shepard 20 years ago back when he was in the Copperfield plaza that I kept going to him. He started being too busy to see me, so I started seeing Dr. Ermac or a Nurse Practitioner. All of them were very nice, but didn't understand why I could never get into my doctor (Shepard) after 15 years seeing him (over the last five I saw him once). The support staff there is atrocious and have reported that to the doctor's several occasions. I think they are so busy, they don't care about good service. They don't call back and they don't take care of requests that even the doctors ask them to do. If you are considering starting here, go somewhere else. You will only get frustrated when it is a time that you need to be taken care of. It is a shame that good doctors cant hire a good staff! read more

The phlebotomist were horrible , had the most stank attitude and were extremely rough with my forearm , yanking out the needle out of my arm, I am a medical assistant and I would really like to know where in the world they got their degrees. The medical assistants and receptionist were extremely rude and short , if they had got new staff apart from the doctors this would be an amazing facility. I've been going to this clinic for years and the quality of care has gone from great to awful. The receptionists are horrible, rude, unfriendly, and lazy. The doctors used to be great but now they don't seem to care about anything but getting you in and out and gone so they can collect the money. The nurse practitioner, Lindsey, is the ONLY redeeming factor about this place now. Lindsey is FANTASTIC. I adore her and she's the only reason I still go to this horrible office. I've been with Dr DeBroeck for probably 10 years now if not more and have never had any issue just getting a human being to answer the phone. Today, I've called multiple multiple times and am put on wait for over 20 minutes. I leave a voicemail and zero call back. Then I find out at 11:30 they go to lunch. LUNCH BREAK? BREAK FROM WHAT??? urg, I am pissed off!! HSE Medical Associates I was seen 2 weeks ago for a bladder infection. I am a cash patient and paid the $140 for them to tell me I had a bladder infection(no crap) and then $35 for antibiotics. I finished them and STILL have a bladder infection. I called yesterday and left 2 messages (9am and 1:30pm)today they call me back (at 11:15am), instead of giving me a new med to put me out of my misery told me I have to come in (another $140) for them to feel comfortable saying I still have a bladder infection, oh by the way they can get me in on the 24th!!! Tell you what Dr for free I will call you when I go to the bathroom and let you hear me scream in pain, pretty sure we would come to the same outcome FML. I've been going to HSE Medical for the past 15 years. The staff have never been rude to me or any of my family. The doctors are wonderful and show concern. If I was late to my appointment, they told me that I would have to wait until the other patients, who showed up before me, were seen. It was acceptable, after all, I was late and they showed up on time. Dr. Shepard has always showed concern for me and my health. He makes sure that I get the healthcare I need. If I need a referral, his staff calls me the next day with referrals for me to call. Dr. Perosa saw my husband six years ago and he was going to call 911 because he was having a stroke in his office and needed to get to the hospital ASAP. My husband took his advice, but the treatment wasn't in time due to the timing of the stroke. I would recommend these doctors and the physician assistants to all my friends that are looking for a doctor in the cypress area. read more

This was by far the worst clinic ive been to! Went there with my daughter who had fever for over a week a long with chest pain and other symptoms. Everyone was soo cold and wanted to do everything fast. They didnt explain anything they were doing or discuss any results as they were going. Then at the end Darcy's diagnosis was to take advil and tylenol and wait. Then we tried calling back a few days later and they took a message and it took hours to get a reply. Horrible service. On top of that they were way more concerned with the payment. Not friendly, not attentive. The staff is horrible. read more

I love my PA Lindsey Havel! If I was rating only her, this would be a five star review. However, this is a review for HSE Medical and the facility that Lindsey works at is not at the same level as her services. The front office staff are a bit rude. I remember reading some of the other reviews and thought that they were not correct, but after this morning's appointment I would have to agree 100%. Upon check in they seem to be almost upset that they have patients to assist. My address needed changed and the lady just ignored me and asked for my payment. I had to insist that she change my address a second time. Enough of the negative, there are actually some positives out this business. They have a lab onsite so they are able to take blood for any additional testing or normal physicals you might have. It is located upstairs and it typically pretty quick. I have been coming to this location 2 years now. We have since moved and I continue to come back because of Lindsey. I will continue to do so as long as she is here. read more
