Had a reservation and since it was just two of us they were going to just place us standing at the bar but my very assertive sister asked the bartender and he made moves. After that tiny hiccup the night was flawless. Only appetizers but food was delicious, those meatballs yum! Salsa spinning on vinyls all night, drinks flowing, pleasant service and the energy overall in the place was 10/10. Def will be back.

Bar Area - A dimly lit bar with a backlit shelf displaying bottles, a seating area with sofas and tables, and candles creating a cozy atmosphere.

Excellent service , good taste of the snacks and food in general . Keep in mind that parking is limited and complicated some days a week. They have a great staff of professional, friendly and dynamic people They always try to adapt the requirements of the clients to the varied menu and situations. Great area to dance and music with rhythms that will not let you be seated. The bar is great, with varied drinks and excellent service.

So, went to Hoy Como Ayer for a friend's concert. Music was great, the venue was cozy with somewhat questionable acoustics, but the one star goes mostly to the service and food. Ordered the infamous 'Son', described in the menu as burrata, arugula and tomatoes, which sounds simple and tasty enough. Note for non-Spanish speakers that 'Son' in this case is not the English word for progeny, but else the Spanish word for 'nice sounds in my ears'. Well, with that disclosure, let me describe the dish: no arugula, but mesclun instead; tomatoes is an overstatement, more like three paper thin slices of tasteless things that resembled, but did not taste of tomatoes; a few olives in toothpicks; and the biggest offender of all - spoiled burrata. The burrata was bitter and stringy, and clearly came straight out of a plastic container kept too long at the fridge, topped with equally spoiled industrial pesto. We told our server, to no avail. We were just ignored. So, bad food and bad service, slightly overpriced. That's one star in my book.

Spam Allstars @ Hoy Como Ayer!

The one and only reason why I visit Hoy Como Ayer is SPAM ALLSTARS! Thursday nights ladies get in free before 11pm guys pay $7. The place has a great cuban vibe with the photos and artwork surrounding it, not to mention the old cuban music playing while you wait for Spam Allstars. The drinks are 2 for 1 before 11, but let's be honest, the drinks aren't all that and the place is a ghost town till about 11:30. I normally stroll in at 10:45 to get in free and have the drink special for 15 minutes. The SA show doesn't start till midnight in which they play for one hour before taking a half an hour break to ressume playing till about 2:30 so if you have somewhere to be in the morning, I suggest you drink a red bull, cortadito or w/e it is that keeps you going, you'll be there for a while. I cannot comment on the atmosphere of the place any other night however if you go on a Thursday, you'll enjoy a great band and bitch about the pain on your calves the next morning from all the dancing you did the night before.

If the real SPAM was as good as the SPAM ALL STARS.... Awesome music, Wednesday or Thursday (House Wednesday and Thursday Spam All-Stars...and they are HOTT!) - If you like raw, Latin/Funk/Afro/Jazz, They bring it with SOULLL. I've been here a few times and it's a great show...People moving, dancing, singing, very laid back crowd....it is what energy and sound is supposed to feel like. You can let loose, embrace your "inner Cuban", and just go with the flow here. It's dark, it's nostalgic and no frills...and they do it well. Remember: Ladies free before 11 on Thursdays Also a plus: ample space to move around and converse with friends. It seems to be a tiny spot, but it never gets pushy and overcrowded-KUDOS to that! The only Cons I have are the cigs......I can't stand a place that sends me home feeling like an overused ashtray. Sorry, but when you've got long hair and like to have good-smelling clothes when leaving a night out, it's sometimes a price you have to pay when coming here. The tapas for me have been hit-or miss... All in all it's a great place for some good vibes during the week, so I will be back soon!

Paid $25 dollars just to get in and asked for an entree which it's called tabla ibérica.I asked the waitress what it was and she told me it was a big table with cheese and ham and some other stuff. The price of la tabla ibérica it's $25 so I tought it was a real tabla ibérica now look what they gave me

Really groovy buildout, nice vibe but they are out of their minds charging $11 for a water bottle in Calle ocho.

I thought for a moment, paid the cover, and walked in. The music was pretty good. The place was not full, this was probably some underground event. I got a cocktail to try, it was pretty good but cocktails and punk don't match, so I switched to cheap bear when I was done. It's a cool venue, close to me, and the staff was very friendly. I used to go to the club in my college years. After the hotel was sold, the club moved to the Rocky Horror venue in Coconut Grove. In 1999 after that closed too, the club became a roaming pop up at different South Florida venues. Which is how I came to be at Bar Nancy in Little Havana on a Saturday night. They host a monthly Kitchen Club night. Almost everything was closed in Little Havana by the time I arrived so it was surprisingly easy to find metered street parking only two blocks away. Bar Nancy did not have a cover charge which was nice. The bar is decorated like a pirate ship with many nautical touches. It is named for the brigantine Nancy, which transported war supplies during the American Revolution. The room the bar is located in was small, dark, hot, and crowded. Many people enjoyed themselves on the dance floor in front of the DJ. They also have a backyard area that was popular. My favorite room was the one between the two. It was decorated like the Captains quarters with a couch and comfortable chairs. I could still enjoy the music and more importantly, the air conditioning. During the night I had a delicious Amaretto Sour. Despite the dive bar surroundings, it was a hefty $15. While that is expensive for a cocktail, it was a small price to pay to relive my youth for one evening.

We ordered a ton, and right off the bat: if you love croquetas and empanadas, order extra. They're on the smaller side and come individually, but they are so good they disappear fast. The beef empanadas were a 10/10 perfectly seasoned and crispy. The chicken empanadas didn't hit the same for me, but the jamón croquetas? Absolutely insane. A must. For appetizers, the prawns al ajillo were delicious super flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also tried the grilled octopus, which was good, but not my favorite. It leaned a bit bland for my taste, even with the sauce. Now, the must-get: the carnitas with pickled onions. Easily one of the best dishes of the night so flavorful, tender, and perfectly balanced. For entrées, we had the ribeye steak and arroz con pollo, plus sides of tostones and yuca. Everything here delivered. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right not overly salty. The arroz con pollo was phenomenal, the kind of dish you could eat every single day. The tostones were crispy and tossed in garlic, which took the flavor to another level, and the yuca was melt-in-your-mouth good. I also ordered a mojito, which unfortunately was very watered down, I barely got any of that classic mojito flavor. Service overall was solid, especially considering how loud the restaurant gets it was honestly hard to hear each other at the table, so shoutout to our server for keeping everything straight. The appetizers came out quickly, back-to-back, which we loved. The only downside was the wait for the entrées they took quite a while after we finished the apps, even though we ordered everything at once. Overall, amazing food, great energy, and definitely worth going just be prepared for a lively (and loud) atmosphere.
