We have an ooooold house. 100+ years old. So our back door has an one of those old knob and locks…read morewith the old timey key and the previous owners added deadbolts to keep it more secure. Then, the day before yesterday, that back door just jammed. We couldn't turn the knob, it wouldn't open, nada. It wasn't the deadbolt, it wasn't the weird old timey key, it was the knob. Now, this wasn't an emergency. We weren't locked out of the house or anything but we do use the backdoor several times a day to let the dogs out to the yard so I wanted to get this fixed sooner rather than later. I called Pop-A-Lock to see if I could get an appointment and I spoke to Lisa. She was super friendly and helpful and told me she'd ring me back when she had her schedule in front of her but she could probably get us in in a day or so. While I was waiting for her to get back to me I tried getting the door open one more time by myself and shockingly I got it! I was then able to make the fix myself (fairly easy) so when she reached back out to me I informed her that I didn't actually need the appointment. BUT I did bookmark this business in the future should we have any other lock issues and I highly recommend reaching out to them to at least have a conversation about your needs if you need any assistance as they were super friendly, helpful, and responsive.

Communication was straightforward and easy. The work itself went above and beyond what I expected. I initially thought I had four locks to change, but he ended up handling all six. He also proactively offered to replace the deadbolt, including adjusting the strike plate, doing the necessary chiseling, and aligning the door so the bolt closed cleanly. He made sure everything was keyed consistently, fixed alignment issues with the door and hardware, and even addressed a turn knob that wasn't seating properly -- all without hesitation. I got to the home and had no way of getting in as the key that was to be used for Emergency was not where it was suppose to be. The officers said they could not go into the house even though I was requesting a welfare check. Soon after the officer left, I called a family member of my friend and she did not have the right key to get in. I quickly did a google search for a locksmith in the area. Fortunately, I got John. John was able to open the door and we found my good friend decease. Naturally, I was upset and so was the relative. After calming down, I went out to pay the locksmith for his service. He came out to our house for air duct cleaning gave us a bogus estimate over the phone for $450 to begin and then he dropped it to $350. The I found his company online through a made-up profile, he shows up at our house he talks a good game but he absolutely did not fix anything I actually had to take my furnace apart just to fix where he screwed up, he promises pictures of every vent before and after. I received two pictures that aren't even of the same vent and I don't even know if there ours. We told him prior that our landlord would be paying and that we would need an invoice. He agreed, then before he left he demanded we pay cash check or Zelle and told us he could not leave until he was paid! And he had the audacity to ask for a tip!! Luckily our maintenance guy had painted a lot of the things shut so I was able to tell after he left that he did not do three of our vents or the air return and we only had five!! This is a complete scam and please do not reach out to this man!! I thought he was just a smooth talker young kid trying to make some money and it turns out he is a complete scam and I guess it's a really common thing for this type of service because you do not need a license. HE EVEN QUOTED MY LANDLORD $6,000 TO REPAIR THE CHIMNEY CROWN OF A SLAB HOUSE THAT'S NOT EVEN WORTH $20,000.
