My annual physical is more like catching up on my health with a good friend, rather than an interrogation. My labs are always thoroughly reviewed, and the actual examination is very thorough and professional. In the rare cases where there is a more serious issue to be evaluated, Dr. Li is always available for a thoughtful consultation. He sets a high standard for the practice and the entire team consistently exceeds that standard. A few years ago, following a late evening emergency appendectomy, Dr. Li made it a point the next morning to stop by my room at Rose Medical Center to check on me -- and he had not even been involved with the acute evaluation and procedure! The fact that there is a LabCorp location in the office, keeping me from waiting to get blood drawn elsewhere, is an extra added bonus. Despite a recent move to another state, my plan is to continue my relationship with this practice, even if it means paying for flights and hotels. It would take a lot for me to ever change doctors again.

Dr Ho is great but staff and NP in office seem to not care about being a patient advocate. Made a…read morewellness appointment with Dr Ho and was setup with different provider. Was having trouble swallowing as residual problem from previous illness. Ask NP if she thought I should have swallow study. Told her old records would be at Rose Hospital. She sent order to Porter but did not include past medical history so I had to explain to speech therapists back story. Turned out to be wrong kind of test and Porter out patient doesn't offer test I needed. Trying to get a prescription renewed does not happen without multiple request which is the NP responsibility. I am now looking for a new PCP

Any other day, rescheduling an appt after being 12 minutes late seems fair especially considering other patients. But what rubbed me the wrong way was overhearing the receptionist ask Dr. Vickers, "Your last appointment is here, do you want to take it?" and then being turned away. That stung. It was disappointing and frustrating, especially with what I'm working through with my health. At the end of the day, when you're dealing with emerging, concerning health issues and just trying to get some answers, you hope your primary doctor might show a little flexibility...especially for their last patient of the day. It takes 6-8 years to become an APRN, but 12 minutes past appointment time is where the line gets drawn. Just disappointing, you know? Sometimes the human side of healthcare feels pretty absent.
