Any other day, rescheduling an appt after being 12 minutes late seems fair especially considering other patients. But what rubbed me the wrong way was overhearing the receptionist ask Dr. Vickers, "Your last appointment is here, do you want to take it?" and then being turned away. That stung. It was disappointing and frustrating, especially with what I'm working through with my health. At the end of the day, when you're dealing with emerging, concerning health issues and just trying to get some answers, you hope your primary doctor might show a little flexibility...especially for their last patient of the day. It takes 6-8 years to become an APRN, but 12 minutes past appointment time is where the line gets drawn. Just disappointing, you know? Sometimes the human side of healthcare feels pretty absent.
