I stayed here because it was cheap. I'll give them that. I had never stayed at a Howard Johnson before, though if this is what it is like it will be my last. I checked in on a Friday and easily found my room. It is a basic motel with few frills, the type of thing that I see in the movies when people are hiding out from the police.
An icemaker was on premises somewhere but I didn't look. The bathroom was clean but tiny, and if you weren't careful you would hit your shins on something. The bed had a metal frame that squeaked when you moved. The car traffic outside wasn't too bad, nor the train horns throughout the night (I like trains so that was okay), but the noisy people yelling in the parking lot late into the evening was annoying. Ditto the fact that I could hear my neighbor's television, and I assume they could hear mine too despite me intentionally keeping the volume low... I hope they enjoyed the Rick Stein's travel adventures I watched.
There was a table, a bench by the door, a fridge, an odd alarm clock lamp, and sort of a dresser to store clothes. The basics, I guess.
