I love my doctor, Dr. Cassandra Wertz, and her nurse Dee. They make an awesome team, and always make me feel supported and never rushed, the way that many physicians tend to be these days. All my questions are always answered fully and I leave feeling reassured. Dee is also a rockstar when it comes to drawing blood! She makes the whole process fast and as pain free as possible. I'm not a fan of needles, and she makes it much more bearable! The facility as a whole is well-kept, crisp, and modern. There is even a little refreshment room in the waiting lounge for the patients. The only downside is that you have to pay for parking, but it is only $5 and I can usually find a spot pretty quickly. You pay for your parking at the front desk when you check out, which makes it a smoother process to leave rather than tracking down a machine. Valet is also an option.

He had open heart surgery (for repair of his mitral and tricuspid valves) here by Dr McKinsey in October 2018. The post-op care was outstanding - especially the time in CVICU. The staff make an effort to include the parents in morning rounds and place high value on the parent's opinions and input. We continue to make regular follow-up visits to Texas Children's in the Heart Center, for dental, vision, gastrointestinal, spine, and other issues, and our experience is always wonderful.

One of the nurse, Michele, really went out of her easy to assist with getting an echo set up for me the very next day when my in office ekg was abnormal. She stayed after hours to accommodate me. I was truly impressed. In fact, even the doctor went out of his way to spend time with me. He was knowledgeable and explained several procedures I needed to me in depth. The wheelchair accessibility of this clinic is fantastic, including reduced rate parking in valet if you have a valid handicapped placard. When i went back the next day for the echo, I met a second cardiologist for the practice who was actually me friendly than the first one, and just as knowledgeable. So why four stars? Ultimately, the first doctor made a couple of insulting comments about my weight- and I don't mean appropriate medical comments about a need to lose weight, as I would have had no issue with that. These comments were joking comments about needing "special equipment" due to my size. Thing is, I'm not big enough to have warranted that. Unfortunately, I'm just overweight enough that a comment line that was, at best, inconsiderate and at worst inappropriate. So I got my echo results and went across the street to Methodist cardiology, where they explained to me all about my valve condition and murmur, scheduled my further testing- without any special equipment, thank you very much-and really set my mind and heart at ease. So ....if you're not as sensitive as I am, give them a shot. With my health issues, I've just decided life is too short not to be treated respectfully, especially when is something as serious as your health. But at the same time, I won't knock the entire practice- which was really good- over one comment from an unthinking doc.

My only complaints is the food!!! Please bring the old menu back. This new one is terrible and is ALWAYS delivered cold so I have too find an available microwave. They used to have a "special" menu for guest who have been here over 5 days. We are going on week 3 and no better menu. Please bring back the old menu. When our children are in the IcU, we want to be present for them singing downtown cafeteria with ridiculous hours is not an option. The Legacy Tower is much nicer for parents to stay than West Tower. The caliber of care in the West Tower is dib par at best. I requested in 2 occasions to be discharged rather than stay more than one night there. I can take better care of my child at home.

Once Dr. Hirsh came in the room she was ready to talk and did she the best patient ever. But she received a flu shot and the little happy camper was not feeling that part of the visit. They always get you in and out quickly. Love this place
