Very, Very Disappointing Experience: -1/17/21 rented 3 bikes from B-cycle Houston. -APP did not work on any of our three phones otherwise, we would have joined as "members". I was able to get to the section on pricing but could go no further. I do remember monthly membership is $13.00 (unlimited trips) and that the yearly membership is $79 (unlimited trips). -Rented 3 bikes around 1 pm. (1/17/21), returned them the next day around 10 am. (1/18/21). -On 1/18/21 checked my acct. and there were 3 charges for $3.24. -Checked my acct several days later and noticed a $278.64 and $150.00 charge from Houston Bike Share (713-865-3622). -It was the weekend but I called and left a message that I was concerned about the charges. Business hours are Monday through Friday and could not reach anyone. -Monday the 25th I called again and spoke to a young lady (cannot remember her name, but she did say she had gotten my message). -I asked her why I was charged those amounts ($278.64), she responded that I had the bikes for a very long time and that was the charge and that the bikes are only for short time (30 minutes) usage. -I asked her about the $150 charge and she told me it was because one of the bikes was stolen. I explained that we returned all 3 bikes and that I was just visiting Houston for the weekend and lived in Florida. -After explaining that I didn't steal one of their bikes, the pricing is very confusing, the APP didn't work, the displays at the kiosks were so scratched up that it was difficult to even see what was required to type in, the first two kiosks did not have dock numbers on them and we had to go to 3 different kiosks to rent the bikes because the first 2 didn't work (other people trying to rent bikes at these kiosks were having difficulties as well), she told me that she would speak to her supervisor. -When she returned she said that she didn't understand why I was confused about the pricing: "it is displayed on the kiosks and bikes" (the signage on all three of the kiosks was unintelligible or not visible), "you could have used the APP" (I explained again, that the APP did not work on any of our phones), "you could have called" (bikes were rented on a Sunday, business hours are M-F), or "you could have checked the website" (by the time we made it to the third kiosk, we were just happy that we were able to find a kiosk that worked by this time). -After listening to her give me all the options I could have pursued had I been thinking properly, I again disputed the charges. She told me that the charges are what they are and that I had signed the "company waiver" (?) and I was responsible for those charges. -I responded, "so basically there is nothing that can be done and, is it not possible for her to consider all a misunderstanding?" Her response was, "that's correct, nothing can be done and no flexibility". -I asked her again about the "stolen bike" charge and she said that the bike was never returned (which is incorrect, all 3 bikes were returned to the kiosk adjacent to the Common Bond in Montrose) so I would be charged for that as well. I told her that we returned all three bikes to the same kiosk and made sure that they were all locked in. -She told me that 1 of the bikes was not showing up in the system as returned so I was responsible for that charge as well. So, all in charge was $428.64 for three bikes for about 21-hours. If the APP had been working, we would have joined as members and paid $39 total. I take responsibility for not understanding the charges but, we returned all three bikes. I am a teacher, my brother is a commercial real estate developer and my sister-in-law is a very successful business owner. In no reasonable scenario would we have ever stolen one of the bikes...doesn't make any sense at all. As a visitor to Houston, I would have hoped that B-cycle would have been more understanding. I feel like I have been taken advantage of and this leaves a very bad taste in my mouth for a visit to your city that was otherwise delightful. read more

Planned a Sunday afternoon using the bikes which was spoilt due the various bike stations not working properly. Problems encountered including the screen at the station being unresponsive, dead screen and card reader not working. I had the same problems the week before using different bike stations. It seems that there is no maintenance being done and emails to Houstonbcycle reporting problems go unanswered. read more

Horrible service. The first bike I rented from them had a flat tire. The bikes also look really rickety and old like they're from 1985. They also omit information about the rates to rent, and the customer service people are working from home with their kids screaming in the background. Houston is overall a joke of a city so I'm not surprised but this is just fair warning. Do NOT use their bikeshare. To add to this. Houston has ONE bonafide bike lane in it's Downtown area, so just riding in that area is dangerous because you have to ride on the sidewalk. Bottomline: it's a scam. DONT DO IT. read more

I love the service but they are BAD in charging you accurate fees. I'm a member for a couple of months, and around 50% of the time I have to follow up on additional charges. I return the bike within an hour: however, most of the time my bill shows up for a couple of hours. They are good in giving back the money when you follow up, but you may not have time to see usage charges and follow ups. Please fix this issue. read more

Terrible customer service!!!! Half of the time you get on the bikes you realize their tires are flat and you get charged the 3.24 for having to get another bike (granted, we were refunded for this). However, on three different occasions, we docked our bikes and ensured they were locked in. Nonetheless, we were charged $150 for each time as a "stolen bike" charge. So we were basically charged $150 because their docks were faulty. We called to get it straightened out and they refused to refund us on one of the bikes so we were charged $150 for a stolen bike because of their faulty equipment. If they had fully refunded, I wouldn't be here writing this review but because of their terrible customer service, here I am. 0/10 would never recommend. read more

customer service sucks!!! i have been getting charged daily for a damn bike i don't have and had turned in days ago!!!! called and spoke with some lady who obviously doesn't know wtf she's doing cause i'm still getting charged. no one answers calls or emails, and im still getting charged days later. fix it read more

B Cycle is an absolute dream! You are free the bike through the whole city and truly embrace and enjoy the architecture Houston beholds. It's very inexpensive and conveniently placed throughout the city in case you get tired! Bikes are in better condition than I expected and recommend gathering friends or family to ride bikes using B Cycle for future reference! read more

This is the worst bike share I've ever used. It can easily become horribly inconvenient. If there's no room at the station nearest your destination, expect the next closest one to be at least a mile away. You can't anticipate if there will be a parking space because the app is incorrect even if it claims to be up-to-date. It would have been faster and cheaper to walk. read more

They keep adding new stations which is making it more convenient every year to use. Also the bikes are all equiped with locks, baskets, and lights. They have 3 speeds as well. Can't complain!!! read more

It honestly doesn't matter WHERE you pick up the bikes and ride, if you're an individual that at least has the basics of biking down without the need for training wheels, you'll find these 3 speed cruisers pretty effective for your fitness and/or spare-the-air perusing around town. A lot of people are confused by the costs for the bikes. It's mad inexpensive first off... for 24 hours it's 5 bucks. In order to not get charged for usage fees, you need to 'dock it and undock it' at one of the stations within an hour. So, if you plan to ride for 6 hours, you need to dock it 6 times, 1x per hour at any of the stations. Comprende? Okay. I'm a pretty frugal chick and haven't figured out where to invest my mula exactly for a bike, so I took full advantage of Houston's B-Cycle annual membership which is originally priced at $65/year, but w/ the promo code for the Spring, it slashed $15 and ended up costing $50/year. Sweeeeeet, right? Yeah, I know. Great thing about this deal is that, it's unlimited use anytime of the year between the am hours to 11pm AND, I don't have to worry about maintenance and allathat. I seen one complaining reviewer at one of the sites state that this bike sharing program is not a good idea in Houston because it's unsafe. UMMMMMMM. YOU'RE UNSAFE, SO PLEASE Don't RIDE the Bikes EVER AGAIN IN YOUR LIFE. Spare us the drama, and the cool ones that can manage with your pitiful lack of awesome to ride baby ride. DEUCES. OH B4 I 4get, on Houston's B-Cycle's website, they track your distance cause GPS is attached the bikes and it discloses how much money you've saved, calories burned, and more. Houston B-Cycle is SO fun, easy and inexpensive. My wife and I enjoyed 24 hour access to bikes across the downtown area for only $5 (all tax and fees included) The catch is you only get a 60 minute session at a time, before having to return it to a location. But the plus side is you can literally return it to any of their locations for 1 second and then rent them again (as long as not all the bikes are rented at that location, and someone isn't waiting for a bike). If you go over the 60 minute session, It's 2 more bucks for an extra 30 minutes. Such a great addition to the area, and so much fun. Check them out next time you're in the area! read more

Glad we have these but they need to maintain the kiosks and have remote access. We had friends from Austin rent bikes so they could enjoy our trails. Because you have to dock and redock every 60 minutes, they were left stranded downtown when the kiosk at City Hall/Main Library didn't work. They docked and couldn't undock. The issue of redoing every 60 minutes is rediculous. When we called customer service, they couldn't do anything. Told us we needed to find another station and rent again, so double the charge. They had to take an Uber back to their car. read more

The app Bcycle is freaking trash!!! Do not use them! They charged me twice. First it would be the $26 and they would give you back that money and you would just have to pay for the amount you used on the bike and which I did and then a few days later they charged me again! I've been emailing them and they were just acting so dumb! So i tried to call and never picked up. Don't use the app they will take your money and they would think they would get away with it. read more

My daughter is being charged 150.00 for a missing bike. She returned the bikes they rode. She called multiple times today and couldn't get ahold of anyone. She emails and the reply states that she's being charged for a missing bike. My daughter couldn't fit that bike in her car if she tried! They offered her a 6.00 refund. Are you kidding me? Right before Christmas to a student working 2 jobs!? There have to be cameras. This is horrible. My daughter is in tears. read more

You know I so badly wanted to like this, but to pay $15 a month for 60 minute bike ride is kind of ridiculous in Houston. The more ridiculous thing is to have to pay $3.25 extra for every 30 minutes you were on it over 60 minutes. If you were on a bike for two hours that would mean that you would have to pay seven dollars almost for that bike ride which is half of what you would pay for the month. They only have 150 stations in the entire city that is 40 miles across. And they're only centralized in the more populated areas. I was in New York City the other day and Lyft has bikes all over New York City I went from one side of New York City to the other side of New York City on one bike and paid a total of six to $10 or something like that. I it's unfortunate that this company instead of catering to their customers and keeping people on the $15 a month instead of arguing with them on the phone for charges they were not expecting. If I was you I would just go to Academy and buy a bike, it'll be a lot cheaper. I can't wait to lift actually gets there biking system here in Houston. read more

The bike share was easy to use and very inexpensive. There were multiple places for us to drop the bikes off and Houston has a lovely bike path system. What a fun and terrific service. The bikes conveniently came with baskets and were in good condition. It was a terrific break from the conference. read more

Awesome!! OMG riding bike during lunch break downtown has been sooo much superfun.Super easy to use. I ride to Discovery Green and to run errands (Walgreen and Goodyear) and to grab some food. I unexpectedly found myself in Houston for a day after I missed a connecting flight to brazil. I had no idea what to do in Houston and called b cycles to figure out how it worked. The bikes aren't the "best" quality, but they are very conveniently located and super cheap. aside from them being hard to navigate, I feel like the whole check in process is confusing and made me feel like I was being overcharged. It says all day use 24 hours for the set price as long as we check it in but the both times I've done that it didn't let me unlock it without putting in my card information again. Best B-Cycle station in the city! Use it all the time. Conveniently located and such a great way to get around the city!

It was definitely a lot of fun, just would not do it through Downtown with a large group again. Next time plan to go to a bike path.

In love with this program! SO convenient so easy and so fun! Such a different way to see the city and at night, there is a headlight and a tail light! We rode from DGP to Frank's Pizza in 5 minutes, all around Sabine and then back behind GRB to Woodrows for a few beers. Just fun! read more

This company does not care about their customers and the people who answer the phone are untrained and useless. Don't even think about using this service if it is raining! All of the stations are down. They do not do refunds if you have so much as touched one of their bikes. Even if you only rode the bike for 20 minutes and spent twice that much time on the phone with their technician.
