Relationship: Client Project Date: May 2016…read moreProject Price: $50,000 - $100,000 Review of TK Cabinets Plus - 1 Star My wife and I planned to have our 1962 rambler kitchen updated with removal of a couple of walls to create an open floor plan between closed off kitchen, dining room and living room. At the strong suggestion of John Barlow of BluePrint Remodelers, we interviewed Anthony of TK Cabinets. We were concerned immediately by his failure to attend our first planned meeting (he forgot). Even with reservations, we wrote two up front BIG checks for both semi-custom cabinets (100% payment up front) and 50% payment for two granite slaps. These two checks were written on 5/23/16 and cashed within 48 hours. Our general contract had difficulty connecting with and getting cabinet install plans from Anthony a month later (June 28th). Anthony was a NO-SHOW July 7th all sub-contractor meeting to review plans and get time and material commitments. I did learn through the granite supplier that the two granite slaps had been shipped to Anthony's fabricator on 7/7. I went back to John Barlow with my concerns and he said he would "nudge" Anthony to respond as we had no communication from him since receiving our two checks two months prior. Despite repeat requests for communication, Anthony did not respond from the 8/8 request for an install date until we got an email that he was on vacation until late August. I got a text on 8/22 from Anthony that cabinets would be delivered and install started on 8/23. That did not happen. Ditto on 8/24 and 8/25. Product was dropped off on 8/26 and then left sitting unopened in our house for two weeks until Anthony returned from an unannounced vacation through 9/5. No word until a text on 9/9 saying he will be in touch. Anthony and his partner Vitaliy showed up on Friday 9/15 and installed the cabinets. One week later, 9/24 the granite was installed. Two small, but significant pieces of granite were missing during the install and toe kick trim still needed installing. One piece of non-matching tile came a week later (stove backsplash). Toe trim was installed by Vitaliy two weeks later. And on November 22nd, the LAST piece of non-matching tile was dropped off (I was charged $90 for a 8" X 14" piece, not installed). TK Cabinetry took almost $18,000 dollars from us and it took SIX months from May 23, 2016 to November 22, 2016 for them to complete what should have taken 8 weeks. The granite counter top was not laser leveled before securing and a marble can now roll off it as it is not level. The dual sink was not properly centered /measure before cutting and is off center from the picture window. The granite behind the cooktop is not from the same granite slap and the seam is visibly different and noticeable. The small granite end cap took 6 week from request to delivery. Again, not from the original slap or lot and is visible different from the rest of the granite top to the naked eye. In summary, our kitchen remodel project was treated as work of convenience; done only on weekends and during "off the clock" hours. No work was done on time or when requested. TK Cabinets was the WORST customer service experience I have ever had from a so called skilled tradesmen. Anthony's communication skills are unacceptable of anyone requesting payment for services. Anthony lacks the basic command of the English language and could not form sentences that made any sense. I would caution anyone considering contracting with Anthony of TK Cabinetry Plus. PS: If we had not threatened legal action and notified the Attorney General's office, I do not believe we would have had a finished project at all. Stay away from TK Cabinetry Plus (or Minus, as in our case)! Steve Jewell cell: 612-597-5230 steve.jewell52@gmail.com

Spent about $18K with this guy and the only reason it seems he showed up was because I had to…read morethreaten legal action three times. Clearly a bad planner, he treated us like we were his very last priority. Forget about returning calls; he didn't - with no explanation or apology. He was argumentative and had the nerve to blame us for his failures to deliver to the project plan. He delayed our other workers without a care. The sink hole in the granite is off center, the counter isn't level, many "hooks" in the glass cabinets are missing and I had to request he re-lay the counter due to a 1.5" gap he tried telling me was for the backsplash (which is only 1/4"). I swear he only did it because the tiler was there himself at the time. We had to beg his assistant to get us the final piece of granite we needed because the owner wouldn't call us back. The piece is about 2' x 8", and when delivered, he wanted $180. My husband offered $90 and he accepted. It wasn't until our neighbor glued it down that we saw it wasn't even the same granite- just some else's remnant that was apparently "good enough". Don't do business with this guy. It was an unreal experience for us and we loathed the entire process of dealing with him. Of course, he didn't offer any recompense for his lack of customer service either.

Actually am writing this review regarding the installation by Dominic. He was simply the best. He called to let me know he was running a little late and told me when he would arrive (think he was within 5 minutes of stated time). That in itself was so respectful and kind. I've worked with a large number of companies and their staff. Dominic one of the first to ever take the time to let me know. Usually they show up sometime within 3-4 hour time frame company promised. If they call it's usually "I'm here in front of your house!" What a gentleman! Was done in an hour. Perfect installation. Could not have been more thorough in explaining care and maintenance. Left the room spotless. Seriously, I never write reviews. But he was impressive. Even looked at some paint samples and gave me honest opinion, so much appreciated. I've always figured that replacing it would require careful measurements and a very precise, professional installer, which is what I got from this team two months ago. They are detail-oriented and really care about perfection. Worth mentioning that this was part of a bigger renovation that was ordered through Minnesota Rusco, a now-defunct company that left me with some unfinished business. I'm pretty sore at Minnesota Rusco, but Stoneworx got their end of the job done very satisfactorily. When Rusco went under, Joe from Stoneworx reached out to me to let me know that if I had any issues (which I don't, after two months) I could connect with them directly. I love my countertop and my new sink, and I would highly recommend contacting Stoneworx directly for this kind of work.

They had an excellent selection in their showroom of stone plus they had a nice clearance department out on the lot that you could look through yourself. The young man that helped me in the showroom was pleasant and efficient. The young man they sent out to measure and do the template was excellent. He said he had been working for 20 years doing this. And the crew that they sent out with the quartz to install and cut the holes for the sink and plumbing fixtures were excellent. It was the same stone, but with a different name that I was looking at at Menards. I believe I got a comparable price with service that I trusted. There was no way that I was going to trust Menards with this portion of the project. The pictures show the countertop installation with temporary plumbing fixtures. The bathroom is only half done.

We went with Touchdown Tile for our upstairs bathroom remodel, as they came highly recommended. We…read morereceived our estimate at the beginning of September in 2024, Final payment 12/30. Initially we were told it would be done by Thanksgiving and it ended up going through Christmas. Throughout this process there were numerous issues. They installed a bath fan that still did not work appropriately and the contractor put his foot through the newly finished knockdown ceiling, floor tile improperly laid, improper grouting (they had to reapply multiple times), electrical outlet and switch not installed level, they damaged the bathtub, the entire tile surround in shower was installed badly and waving. Not to mention the mess left outside, drywall compound/grout water being dumped in my backyard and damaged my siding/grass; and a piece of plywood in the front yard that was buried by snow during the project and killed my grass when found in spring. Due to this, I reached out to the GC about my complaints in March of 2025. The GC was shocked by the quality of the initial job and stated he would correct the mistakes. They finished corrections in January 2026. After the "corrections", the bathroom fan doesn't work and drips a lot of water when in use. The entire surround was replaced and still not done well, the tiles aren't aligned and in one spot i have a cut myself a few times from the tile jutting out. Not to mention, I purchased this tile for the contractors and didn't receive payment until the fix was complete months later. This was brought up during the second surround installation and the solution was to add more grout to the bottom of the jutting out tile. This grout has since deteriorated and it is sharp again. Grouting was done incorrectly and redone 3 times during the fix. Multiple attempts to patch the damage to the tub were done, damage still visible in 2 spots. They tiled over a water pipe that held the shower wand, so we had to wait for the GC to drill into the tile to reveal the pipe. The plumber came out to the drilling being incomplete and had to reschedule multiple times. To the plumber and I's dismay, this delayed the process. On the other side of the shower there is a closet with an access panel which has began to show increased signs of water intrusion at the top of the wall near the shower head. In the end, I was compensated for the tile I purchased + a little extra. (this did not cover the cost of tile plus interest due to delays). Plus a bathroom with improper tiling, a steam issue (to the point it has rusted the light fixture in the bathroom), and incredibly messy finishes (including towel racks falling out of wall). We wasted 20k dollars and will have to pay to have the bathroom remodeled, yet again. BEWARE, please think twice before using this company. I will not be recommending/referring them to any friends, family, or clients.
