Recommended to me by my contractor, they had the exact quartz I wanted for countertops for my new bathroom. They had an excellent selection in their showroom of stone plus they had a nice clearance department out on the lot that you could look through yourself. The young man that helped me in the showroom was pleasant and efficient. The young man they sent out to measure and do the template was excellent. He said he had been working for 20 years doing this. And the crew that they sent out with the quartz to install and cut the holes for the sink and plumbing fixtures were excellent. It was the same stone, but with a different name that I was looking at at Menards. I believe I got a comparable price with service that I trusted. There was no way that I was going to trust Menards with this portion of the project. The pictures show the countertop installation with temporary plumbing fixtures. Granite counters- so far so good. NOT HAPPY with the double tiny bar-sized sink they installed. Its MISSING 5 1/2 inches of standard width. Mason, from Twin City Discount Granite calls to inform me that I could not use the undermount sink we chose because it's 1" too deep. He offers to install standard equal double 8" depth rather than 9". Installers came and installed. I did not notice how tiny the sink was until it was too late. The sink hole was pre-cut to size at the warehouse. I called Mason at Twin City Discount Granite, left a voicemail.... crickets. Stuck with a tiny sink. Try washing a frying pan in it... Maybe a one-star will get his attention, or possibly, like the other reviews, they won't care. I do not recommend. read more

You get what you pay for. Installer cut into pvc pipe while installing pvc pipe. From what I can see it seems not be be leaking, but do not know how long this pvc will last and if it will spring a leak over time as there is probley just a little bit left the installer did not cut. I was watching the install and when he was cutting the drywall with the dewalt multi tool. I saw the pvc pipe, but, the installer worked so quickly to push the granite in to adjust so quickly that I did not see the pipe part that got cut. The funny thing is I asked the installer six times, did he cut in the pvc pipe and he stated no everytime. The only reason I found out about this was because I am about to installing some subway tile backsplash in the kitchen and before I finished the install of the backsplash I wanted to be sure the pvc pipe was not damaged as I was suspect that the pvc pipe was cut due to the speed the installer was cutting the drywall with the multitool. Since I would be covering this part of the drywall with backsplash, I decided to cut a small part of the drywall off and see to ensure there was no leak before installing the backsplash over this part of the drywall. Guess what? I am glad I did. See pictures. I already know they will not compensate or fix this as I am pretty sure from my dealing with them where they make the installation job easier for there employees at the customers expense. If I did call and let them know, they would blame me the customer for the PVC pipe being in the way, saying it's my fault you purchased a home with a pvc pipe in the way of our installation. Guess I can not complain, I got a good price on the granite/install, but now I have to worry about replacing this at my cost due to installers damaging the pvc pipe. This company will blame me as I stated earlier because they say so just because that's there mentality. Example is when a small child ask why? And the adult response to the child, "because I said so". I never have had granite countertops installed before, so this maybe normal for granite installation. See pictures. If this is normal for granite installation, then I think I will forget about countertop installation with any company at my primary home which I was thinking about updating. The thing that bothered me is the installer guy straight lied to my face and I asked him six times about did you cut into the pvc pipe. You may have a different experience with this company, but I can not recommend this company just due to the fact about the pvc pipe being damaged and asking about it and straight up lied to. Without a doubt, the worst company I have ever dealt with. If you choose to work with them you must protect yourself. Make sure you have EVERYTHING in writing that you want. When the installers show up get their names and phone numbers and verify it is correct. You must RECORD everything they say and everything they do. This will be your only protection if the job goes south. Installers at my house admitted to making a mistake but changed their story to the office. I had to pay for a horrible job. I've had 3 different friends come over to the house to see what they did, all 3 took their business elsewhere. I would suggest everyone look elsewhere for your countertop needs. Twin City Granite arrived at my house today to install two countertops. The two installers were very professional. They arrived within the window of time agreed upon and were were friendly, polite and courteous at all times. They wore masks, took off their shoes, answered my questions, asked for my preferences, cleaned up after themselves, and did their work in a quick and efficient manner. My countertops look beautiful but more importantly, these installers made me happy I had decided to go with TC Discount Granite. I would choose them again. We were going to buy some quartz counter tops from this location. The staff was very knowledgable, but there were issues that came up and we ended up cancelling the order. They charged us 458 dollars in fees to cancel. The measuremet was done on a Saturday, we were notified of needed seams on Monday afternoon. The seams and their location is an issue for us. The same day we were notified we told the salesperson it was an issue and was told that we would have to decide by the next day. The next morning, within an hour of them opening I called to cancel the order which they did, but called me later in the day telling me they charged us 458 dollars in various restocking and measurement fees. They should have never ordered the materials until we had confirmed the measurment, final cost and where the seams were located. This is a disgusting way to do business. I wish that I had read the reviews of the company before doing business with them. read more

The countertop is beautiful, and the staff in the store and installers were fantastic. However, I ordered a counter for my island, which is relatively small and has a slide in stove. I was very disappointed to see they pieced together smaller sections to create the island, rather than using one whole slab. My island is not large and should not require a seam. The islands on display in their showroom are bigger than mine and do not have a seam. Very disappointing end product. I am holding out hope they will remedy the situation. read more

After I purchased new countertops from TC Discount Granite on 2/10/16, I scheduled a time with them to pick out my granite slab. I took time off work and picked out the slab. We laid out exactly which piece would go in each section of the kitchen. We spent extra time so the lines in the granite would match up well when there was a seam between two pieces. On installation day, it took all of 5 minutes for the installers to drop a large piece of granite on my new cabinets and floor. They snapped off a door and scratched up custom made cabinets. The piece of granite cracked in half. This meant that the installation had to be rescheduled for another couple of weeks out, forcing me to take another day off work. The installers assured me that everything would come from a new slab so that the seams matched up. TC Granite did pay for the cabinetry, but it was hours of my time to coordinate this. When TC Granite came to install the granite again, it was clear that one piece was from the original slab and the other was from a new slab. The seam didn't match up at all. There were gaps and small holes along the edge of the granite that was along the wall. They assured me this was okay because the back splash would cover this up. Within four or five months of the installation, there was a large crack in the granite next to the sink. I emailed the manager, Mark Harms, about this. His solution was to show me how to fix this with super glue. I let him know they should fix the countertops, and he said they're not liable. After several more emails (many of which were ignored), Mark offered me a $50 credit to have it fixed by one of his guys. He gave me the guy's info and said the guy preferred to be texted. I have texted this person and called several times with no response. At this point, I have no interest in working with TC DISCOUNT Granite. I would just like to make others aware that they DO NOT stand behind their work. Beware! There are much better granite companies in the Twin Cities. You get what you pay for. Mark Harms and his company do not stand behind their work or their product. If anything happens to your counters within months of the install, he will flat out tell you that you misused your countertops. read more

I can't say enough about the excellent service, staff and product we received. We went in on a weekend with our measurements, picked out our product with great help from the salesperson. We received a free undermount sink too! Within two weeks the entire process was completed. The workmen at our house were courteous, especially right now they wore masks, gloves, and were careful not to touch anything in our home. Everything looks amazing, and the price was by far the best. I went to discount granite to get a new top for my island in the kitchen that was a tile top. I picked out one I loved and scheduled to have it installed. Hours before the scheduled time,they called me and said they would be early. I wasn't home,but my husband was and I said he could let them in. I then received a call that they don't remove tile tops, even though I had already paid $100 for them to remove it and the same guy was in my house two weeks before to measure and knew that it was a tile top. They then proceed to tell me that it will be an additional $50 to remove the tile for labor and they are not responsible if anything gets broken. I'm not even home and I tell them to please remove the tile for the extra $50. What was I supposed to do? I then get a call 20 minutes later from my husband who informs me that they are done and have completed everything. So obviously there wasn't any serious labor removing the tile. My husband said he liked it, and I was excited about seeing it when I got home. I get home and it is not the granite I picked out. I go into the showroom to confirm the color and it is different. The receptionist informs me Its the same. I have 3 people go into the showroom over the next 2 weeks and they all agree it's not the same. I write a letter to them explaining this and I paid an extra $10 a ft to get the one I wanted. I asked them to refund me the $10 difference since I would have been just as happy with the standard granite as I was with this one. They did refund me the $50 for the extra labor but did not refund me the granite difference. I and the other 3 people who saw the granite all agree that this was a bait and switch and we will not go back here or recommend them in the future. read more

Really love my bathroom vanity top and they installed it very quickly. However, the caulk job was very poor. They used a clear caulk (which was the correct choice), but it shrank back, pulled away from the vanity top and turned a weird yellow/orange color in a couple months. The clear caulk in my shower, which is much more exposed to elements hasn't discolored and it's been in place for 5 years. When reaching out to them about this I was told this happens and that I should just paint it. As you can imagine this would look terrible. Oh well - I'm just redoing the caulking myself, but purchasing a new stone vanity top you should be able trust that the caulk job done lasts more than 3 months. If you go with these guys just know this and maybe do the caulk job on your own. read more

Main Issue: Credit card charged before project was finished. TC Granite refused to take responsibility to correct significant gap. I never signed off on the charge. We ordered quartz countertops with TC Granite, and were initially impressed with knowledgeable staff with quick and professional responses to our questions. We shopped around, and while TC Granite wasn't the cheapest option, we trusted the staff and felt good about moving forward. Both the person who came to measure our counters and the installers were courteous and professional. But unfortunately, when the installers came to install the countertop, there was a large gap between our wall and countertop. At the widest, it was 5/8" and it ran the length of 18" along the countertop. The installers were not able to get it any closer to the wall because the piece was cut incorrectly. There is a notch cut out of the piece, leaving the gap along the wall. They claimed that it was cut this way to accommodate the curvature of the wall, but the wall actually curves away from the his point. Instead of cutting notch to widen this gap, we would have just needed some extra grout when installing the backsplash. The notch should not have been cut into the piece. I reached out to our salesperson and eventually the general manager, Mark Harms. Mark told me that the piece could not be installed because the wall curved. Even if this were true and there was not a notch cut out of the installed piece, then TC Discount Granite should have never took the project. They had the opportunity to turn it down when they came to take the measurements. Mark sent the installers back to see if they could correct the issue twice. Both times, the installers could not correct the gap. Instead of acknowledging fault, Mark told me that we would have to pay tilers to do a specialty job to correct the gap. TC Discount Granite did not take responsibility for an issue they created, and instead had me take on additional costs to fix their mistakes. When the installers came the second time, they did not bring all of their equipment. We scrambled to put down cardboard to prevent them from damaging our newly installed hardwood floors. They burned our electrical outlet and marked up our walls. They eventually paid for this damage, but only after I pointed it out twice and sent pictures. TC Discount Granite continues to claim that they are not responsible to fix the curvature of the wall. Of course we realize this, and never expected them to. What we did expect was what they promised: a countertop that was cut to fit the space. They left us with an unfinished project and a mistake in our countertop. If they couldn't do a job within industry standards, they should have never accepted the job and charged us for it. read more

We saw there bill board saw a piece granite and fell in love. That is when we should have gone some where else, after getting a estimate we had to wait until cabinets were in so they could measure, cabinet guy said they put little transponders in the corners NOPE tape measure and a piece of cardboard. After two weeks they finally arrived evey piece is wrong the island a half inch to big some to small. The breakfast bar had a huge crack in it. They hit my brand new cabinets with the big piece right in the corner and ripped a huge chunk of sheet rock of the coner of the wall. RUN DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. read more

This is a tough one. We ordered three separate pieces, two vanity tops with undermount sinks and a small kitchen countertop. We didn't shop around but felt the pricing was reasonable. The order placement and measuring all went well. The installers showed up within the allotted time slot. The issue came after the installers left. We noticed a crack in one of the vanities running from the sink cutout to the front edge. You can clearly see this crack runs all the way through the slab, straight as an arrow. We send a photo and based on that, we were told it was a fissure. No one offered to come out and inspect, they just flat out refused to follow up. We have advised TC Granite that we will watch the crack and if it expands in the next 3 years we will file a warranty claim. Based on their service after the install, I would not use them again. Not horrible, but not particularly responsive either, be forewarned. Update - 2 days later. Okay, really can't recommend these guys. Our rectangular sink is not parallel to the front lip of the vanity top, it's off 1/8" from left to right, enough to be noticeable once you see it. And our oval sink wan't mounted straight, the overflow doesn't line up front to back, it's off about 5 degrees, again noticeable when you look at from overhead. These were both field installed and that's the problem with the oval sink but the rectangular sink opening was cut in the shop. That tells me these guys are just winging it, not really measuring. Oh well, you get what you pay for. As my wife noted, it is Twin City DISCOUNT Granite after all. read more

Saw their ad for $29 sq/ft Granite counter top. They had one style/pattern at $29 all else was $45 and up. A typical bait and switch ad. I stopped at the store to see about a small remnant for a very small vanity (17x 21) when I asked about a remant for the application I was told that the minimum was $500 and no matter the price the charge would be $500. A friend recommended TC Discount Granite after they installed granite countertops in her kitchen. I was impressed with their sales service (Coon Rapids location) -- no pressure and willing to answer all my questions. They showed me a thick binder of customer surveys -- almost all "5-star" reviews. Also, they were very accommodating when I expressed an interest in seeing a full slab of the quartz I chose prior to having it cut and installed. Even the guy who came and measured was professional and pleasant. However, I was very disappointed with the installation process. Although the counter is level and looks beautiful, the crew gouged the heck out of my walls getting it in (they kept pointing out that my walls weren't plumb/level/straight...), and their installation of the undermount sink was very schlocky. I heard the installer swearing a blue streak while working on the sink, so obviously he was having issues. After they left, I looked under the sink and noticed that instead of the metal clips used near the back of the sink, the front -- just inside the door -- was held up with what looked like a piece of hockey stick screwed to the side of the cabinet. I called the owner (Mark) to express my concern, but he said most people wouldn't be bothered because it's behind the door. Not the right answer! He said I could probably remove the piece of stick after the silicone dried for the requisite 24 hours, but I said I was concerned because there were no metal clips holding that corner of the sink. Hmmm, odd that I was never asked to complete a survey... (perhaps they knew I wouldn't be giving them an overall five-star rating). read more

I was recommended to check them out by my contractor as he does not do granite countertops. They hands down have the best pricing. I compared them to other stores in the area as well as some of the major stores and their granite is thicker, better quality, for significantly less. There are NO hidden fees or costs. They even threw in a free undermount kitchen sink for purchasing as much granite as I did. The only drawback, which is not really a negative, is the wait time. They're so busy (cuz they're so inexpensive!) that the wait time was 6 weeks for them to come by and install my countertops. read more

Terrible workmanship and installation! The measurements were way off and they broke a chunk out of the corner of the bar and glued it back on. It does not match the rest of the countertop. Workers were sent out to sand and polish the many chips and rough spots that snagged the dish cloths, they also took photos of the other areas and we were told Mark would call us. He did not!! Every time we went into the showroom Mark said that he would come out "next week".... he has NEVER even called us. In response to our Better Business Bureau complaint, they never addressed the real issues of workmanship and installation, only an issue with the stone manufacturer.
