    Potato Crusted Halibut

What a special culinary experience in Benton Harbor, MI. The restaurant promotes family style for sharing. We sat at the counter and enjoyed getting to witness the culinary team at work preparing the dishes! We had two starters; Duck Wings and Tuna Crudo. Both were outstanding and would get again...duck wings did get the slight edge for the fav. We also had two entrees; Halibut and Lamb ribs. Here again we were thrilled with our selection and Halibut got the slight nod for the winner The restaurant is small so make reservations to ensure you get in! Energy is great and staff was engaging and top level service. Highly recommend even for those looking for an alternative to driving to Chicago to get a great culinary experience! Houndstooth will not disappoint!

Daisy Buchanan - a gin cocktail, reminiscent of a lemon martini. Very tasty with just the right sweetness

This was a last minute choice for dinner on a dreary, rainy evening. The atmosphere was quaint old building with limited seating the ambiance was cozy and comfortable. The staff were very accommodating and provided professional explanations for each entree. The food was exceptional. Each made fresh onsite. All entrees were shareable and my husband was hesitant stating that he would never choose this place. By the 3rd course he had changed his mind. There wasn't one thing to complain about. For a small town restaurant, this trendy place reminds me of European restaurants. I will be returning again a d again.

Still thinking about the garlic bread months later! We had a lot of fun trying different menu items and seeing the food made in front of us. Seating was a little crammed but overall a really fun experience

A must try!!! Last Saturday night, the hubby and I decided to try this place out for dinner, kind of last minute. We didn't have reservations, and the place was packed. Graciously, some chairs were moved around to a little table in the only corner open, and we were able to dine. Everything about this little spot was perfect. From the warm welcome and effort by the hostess to the excellent service by Ligan and a tasty and inventive dinner. We had the short rib tartar, shrimp, bbq carrots, stuffed wings, and Poole. Everything had a unique twist, presented beautifully, and provided a wonderful carnival of flavors for the palate. Oh, and I mustn't forget the lavender drink. Delightful

The service, attention and detail were all very impressive. It's a shareable format. We got the --duck wings - amazing --short rib tartar - not bad but wouldn't get it again --black bean chicken - deceptively good --Slow steak - great and surprised by how good the almond cabbage side was --crispy potatoes - good --Paris Brest dessert - again not bad but would do something else. Like a donut sandwich of apples The explanations were the best I've ever had a waiter do. Really good beer and their version of espresso martini. The owner even came over to show us how they get the bonito fish strips that we were intrigued by because of how they move. Just an overall really good restaurant at an affordable price. Try it!

We live in Chicago and eat out a lot at highly regarded places. Houndstooth would be a top Chicago or NY restaurant. Every dish is delicious and creative. The bang-for-the-buck is perhaps the best I've ever been to. Run, don't walk, to Houndstooth! Cheyenne and the amazing staff will give you a night to remember. Headed back in two weeks and again and again!

This restaurant is absolutely above a 5 star ratting. I've been a chef for 15 years and rarely am I impressed but wow, the food almost makes you feel emotional. I felt like I was traveling around the world through the flavors. The thought that went into each dish, it's incredible. The staff was all charming and fun to be around. There was plenty time to enjoy each plate in between each other. The flavors are on point. Our server Aaron was friendly and chill, he took the time to explain each dish and gave us his recommendations. The vibe of the restaurant is also dope, good music. I hope this place stays open for many many years to come. The cream puff was life changing. We took ours home to go. Thank you for giving my fam such an awesome experience. Cheers

This is hands down the best restaurant in this part of the state and area. It's probably one of the best in the entire Midwest. Lucky to have a gem like this in the area. The vibe, the food, the service, the creative thoughtfulness. This place hits the mark. Do not miss it and it's worth the drive from wherever you are coming from.

Warm and inviting atmosphere and service, but the food. Yum! Cannot say enough for the culinary choices and preparation. The food is amazing and antelope is my go to red meat! If you haven't tried it, it's a must for any carnivore. Want a lighter meal, but still extremely satisfying, go with the halibut. Duck Rilette as an appetizer was new for us. Spread the duck over crustini, with sweet jam and ground mustard and you have flavor packed bite. Balanced and very surprising how good it was/ There's parking on the street or off the side of the building. Never a problem. Weather permitting, they have covered outdoor seating with a view of the lake across the street. If you want to stay in the area, stay right at the Boulevard Inn - BONUS!

The local heirloom tomato starter was amazing, we had the seasonal bucatini and redfish that were both delicious. Then the bread pudding for dessert. My husband found himself craving their friends and burgers recently, so I decided to take a chance and come back. The food, as always, is fantastic. We had never ordered an appetizer before so we ended up trying the cheese curds as an extra treat since it's been so long between our last visit and our most recent one. My husband got a double burger with American cheese and bacon, which is a pretty standard order for him. He did end up ordering a side of fries and a drink as well, but the name of the drink has escaped my brain. I got my usual BYOB (build your own burger) which is a bean patty, white cheddar cheese, lettuce, onion, and honey mustard. The hostess who greeted us was very welcoming and led us upstairs to our table. Our waiter was also very friendly, chatted with us about Pokemon Go and was generally quick with our items. If I could change anything it would be having a little bit more time between our appetizer and our entree, but that wasn't a big deal considering my anxiety usually acts up to a point where I take most of my food home anyways (which I did end up doing). Overall a decent experience, if you come in to dine that is. I still don't trust them to do a proper over the phone order.

About an hour and a half for an appetizer of wings - and that's all we ordered! That should not happen. It's unfortunate for those looking for a nice dinner. They were owned by North Pier Brewing Company across the street, so this restaurant has changed a bit when it comes to the menu but the ownership has stayed the same and the beers they offer are made by their own brand. Their cocktail menu has updated as well and you can take home their beer in 4pk can form if you'd like. Food was fantastic and I will definitely be looking forward to dining in one day to get the full experience. The poutine, bbq pork rinds, and soft pretzel all sound fantastic on the appetizer menu so all of those are going to be reasons to keep going back. I'll also be interested in trying the pickled gimlet and the Great Lakes transfusion (both cocktails). We shall be back.
