Really Love it here! Not usually a gym person, but this gym doesn't make you feel as if it's a competition. 10/10 recommend

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Went to this gym for a year and when the year…read morecontract was up I asked another location if there was anything I needed to do before my year ended. They told me no so I assumed they wouldn't continue charging my card after that. They continued to charge my card for three months while I was not using there facilities. When I went to ask if there was any way I could get a return on the three months I haven't been going, Leah, the owner I am assuming, said no because it was in the contract. CLEARLY they only care about taking your money instead of having return guests.

I am disabled and on a fixed income, but I want to be healthy and work out. I thought of Anytime…read moreFitness because I've been a member before and the personal trainer assigned to me then was friendly and helpful. However, after my most recent interaction with them I feel disappointed. I signed up with their gym, which now uses a biweekly billing system. There's also a sign up fee and a key fob fee that was around $75. It's around $46 a month total for access to the gym. After that they offer a group class for an additional $50 a month. In order to use this gym you have to sign a contract that prevents you from cancelling within 1 year. The penalty for cancelling early is $99. You have to sign another contract stating that cancelling that $50 extra class will ALSO incur a $99 cancellation fee. You know where I'm going with this story, right? After being a member for a week and having used the gym twice to walk on their treadmills- and having not attended ANY of the classes- I decided to cancel as it was brought to my attention that my Medicare Advantage Plan pays for memberships to certain gyms, including the Altoona Campus we have in town. I was so excited to find this option since as I mentioned before I am disabled with a fixed income. Some backstory (skip this if you only want to read about the review) My social security disability nets me about 16k a year and because of a certain medication that I take, the only way for me to afford it is to be on the government's Extra Help plan through Medicare. My student loans will be forgiven as part of the Total and Permanent Disability discharge option, but the stipulation is that I can't make more than 17k a year. An extra 17k would make me ineligible for the Extra Help program AND disqualify me from disability benefits anyway, so I don't work. In summary: In order to get the medicine I need to treat the disability that affects me daily- I am *forced* to remain in poverty unless by some miracle I can suddenly make enough money in a year to afford my medicine without this insurance (It's $1700 a month out of pocket) on top of housing, food, energy, and other utilities. Which... because of my disability... isn't likely. So back to the rotten experience I had with staff when I arrived and explained I had found a better option for me. Despite explaining my circumstances, it was repeated to me several times that "yOu SiGnEd A cOnTrAcT. You initialed it. You shouldn't have signed it if you wanted to cancel." I was forced to pay for the sign up and key fob fee, access to the gym and enrollment in a class I didn't get a chance to attend (I got my second vaccine dose and it knocked me out for a few days). I had to THEN pay a $99 cancellation fee for EACH contract, one for using the gym and the other for being enrolled in their group class. And then they had the gall to want to charge an additional $99 and the extent of their compassion was to waive whatever made up charge that was. All in all, walking on their treadmills twice cost me nearly THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS. Zero compassion. Zero empathy. This is a business first and foremost and it's extremely clear that your value to them is your wallet and not your humanity. That's a shame for a place meant to help build human excellence. I should clarify- you do get THREE WHOLE DAYS to change your mind. You don't even get a 7 day trial with this place and they set it up that way precisely so that you feel forced into paying for something you're afraid to cancel because it's a LOT of money upfront to cancel. They even insisted that they could ONLY cancel by charging me right then and there and not by billing me. Shame on this business. I would've happily let you keep what I invested but then to penalize me, knowing the financial burden you're creating, because a contract is more important than some basic human decency. I have zero support for soulless, corporate thugs who chant "you signed the contract!" over and over every time they go over their monthly financials. Don't support this business.

A great gym, if you're bodybuilding, powerlifting, or just coming in for a quick cardio sweat,…read moreFitness World 24 has what you need. I came here on a short visit and got a day pass. The gym has two floors; most of the weights that I enjoyed using is on the first floor, while the second floor has more of the cardio type equipment, although there is an area where there is a cross-trainer and some light weights. They have several squat/deadlift platforms, so you know this gym is legit. Plenty of free weights, a few bench presses, and weight machines as well. I love the color theme here. It's probably not a big deal to most people, but it reminds me of the Marvel Ironman-red color, and I'm a fan. Locker rooms is located on the first floor, near the check-in, and everything appears clean and fresh. On the weight area, there are a couple of private bathrooms near the weight machines, so lift some weights, pop a squat, as needed, and then do some squats with no worry of anything popping out.
