The customer service though is what led me to write this review. One of the instructors was SO rude. I was told I could level up to a 1.5 class and she constantly made comments about how I couldn't do something because I was new or I wasn't used to doing something a certain way. We all were just looking at each other and smiling because her energy was so off. They actually gave me a new class because I had complained. So I go to the new class and show up at the door at 8:01 AM and was refused to come in. I said hey it's only 8:01 and I have seen many other ladies come in 2-3 minutes after. Dani still refused to let me in. This place is the worst!!! I do not recommend. Complete waste of money.

I actually went to the North Ames location to sign on with the manager there, she was much more approachable and helpful, I'd recommend signing up with her and not this South Ames guy, there's just something off with this guy. And the showers would have the same dirt from a week prior, same with the sauna. I recently had to cancel my membership and he said maybe ten words in all to me and did not care about the cancellation. From my previous experiences with gyms I've never dealt with such a manager. All are usually very kind and helpful and want to know how they can improve the gym and how my experience was. Not sure I'll be back. The rest of the employees there are wonderful however!

Even if you hate contracts, and loathe inflexibility-- you can still check out "Anytime Fitness" for one that gives you the options of safety, cleanliness, machines, parking and staff that cares about their facility and you as a customer. My go to is Anytime Urbandale -- when you walk in you have to feel comfortable, staff seem to care about your presence and the ebb and flow of the circuit seems a good fit. Urbandale is giving itself a facelift by adding Hunter -- a new trainer and sales representative-- and adding and rotating equipment that works for those who use machines. The spacing of equipment is good, the cleaning inside in various areas has improved and Coach Mike is still there to perk up the place. So shake it off and find that Anytime regiment that works for you!

This gym is amazing…read more I was looking for a gym that could challenge me and I found that in Next Level. What is Next Level? Next Level is a boot camp style gym. The way the gym is set up they have 8 week sessions and everyday of that 8 weeks is different. I loved the variety of exercises and trust me you will never be "bored" during class with all the different workout combos they offer between kickboxing, body weight exercise, dumbbells, jump roping, resistance bands, rowing, steps, and ladders. I did one trial class and fell in love and signed up for 6 months because that is how amazing I thought this place was. Who is Next Level for? Next Level is for everyone! If you interested in nonstop intense workout, then check out this gym! I would recommend checking them out first to see what you are getting yourself into but you will not regret it. The owner and trainers are the best around and very focused on getting you to the next level of your fitness journey (see what I did there? okay I am done I promise)

I've signed up and have ran (3) 1/2 marathons, a few 10ks but never performed at my best because I would always quit in the middle of training. Thanks to the awesome trainers who push you to do better than your best, I lost a few lbs, a few inches, and I'm stronger mentally and physically. To see my testing results from the 1st 4 weeks compared to the 2nd 4 weeks made me proud of what I was able to do. I was able to double the weights I started with and knocked my rowing time down by 32 seconds. Next session is to complete 500 m in less than 2 minutes. The culture of the gym is probably one of the biggest reasons why I didn't quit. Everybody was focused of becoming better individually but always made time to motivate and encourage me to finish. There were so many times I didn't feel like working out but I went anyways because I had a whole class that kept me accountable. Joining NXLF is probably one of the best choices I've made in a long time. I have found an activity that challenges me on a daily basis and promotes a culture of people caring and looking out for each other. If anybody is interested, trial for next session is the week of July 31st. You go in, sign a waiver, sweat like you never sweated before and walk out in pain but hopefully, decide to go back for more. The owner/trainers will not push you into signing up, another perk I respect and appreciate it.

Aspen Athletic Clubs is a pretty cool place. It is relatively small (compare it to say an Xsport or…read moreLA Fitness), but it has everything I need, including an area where I can do deadlifting without anyone frowning at me, as they have a good section dedicated to powerlifts and crossfit. This gym has a decent amount of cardio machines, along with several squat racks (three of em) and a couple of pulley machines. For bench pressing, there's no conventional bench presses, rather, they have racks, where you can place barbell holders at and move over a bench so you have an impromptu bench press. They also have a decent amount of dumbbells. I really liked the crossfit area as they got racks to perform them silly kip pullups along with medicine balls and Olympic plates. They also have a decent padded section where you can do stretches. BATHROOM REVIEW: This is more about the locker room. Pretty decent, with no naked old men walking around air-drying their nether regions. That's great in my book. Sit or squat? Squat.... it's still a locker room :-P

Edit (I will need to cut parts of my original review to fit more info, I'll attach original review…read moreif allowed): at no point did you actually provide me policies, I had to dig through the app to find myself, and it was like pulling teeth to get you to confirm those were the policies. Your policy lists a $5 no call/no show fee. There are individuals that have been charged $25 late fees that are not in your policies. Potential customers should have that information. You should be more transparent about that, end of story. Yes, there have been many great instructors there; however, many of the best instructors leave. I wonder why. I worked out at Fit and Fierce 4-7 days a week from April '24 to April '26. The majority of the instructors are great, some have been really amazing. The clientele there is kind and awesome. I think the equipment could use some updating, things like hand weights with the rubbery covering coming off, but for the price of membership, I liked the gym and would have rated it 4 or 5 stars. The reason I am writing this review is to share my experience with one of the two owners that, in my opinion, is morally reprehensible. Another patron who frequented Fit and Fierce even longer than I had was abruptly terminated recently. Reasoning was continued disruptive behavior. I did many classes with that individual and personally witnessed nothing of the sort. I recognize that behavior could have happened but I doubt it based on the rest of my experience. Instead of assuming anything, I asked the owners to share written policies and conduct expectations. I encouraged them to be transparent about these policies and expectations and to share with everyone, which to me seems reasonable especially given the fact that they had specifically asked for feedback. There was an excessively long back and forth email and text chain with me simply asking for policies and the owner not providing them and being unnecessarily hostile towards me. She claimed many odd things like the other patron was trespassing and kept trying to give me her narrative of a story I specifically asked her NOT to tell me. She kept calling and texting me at all hours so that she could give her side of the story. I did end up blocking her number because of that. After many days of not answering my simple question regarding policies via email, I lost my cool with her and asked if the words I am saying don't make sense to her and told her her behavior is condescending and unprofessional. She took great offense to my opinion of her behavior. Shortly after that she decided at 1:39 am to also terminate my membership when I was signed up to take a 5:30 am class the next morning. My opinion on that manner is that she purposefully sent that cancellation in the middle of the night so that I wouldn't see it in time, show up to class as usual, and also be accused of trespassing. I had had what I thought was my final email exchange with her at 12:14 pm the previous afternoon. She could have easily shared her intentions to terminate my membership then. Mind you I am a paying customer for 2 years with absolutely ZERO issues at the establishment, EVER. I did make it clear that I expected her to return the unused portion of my membership fees and she did so. The other patron who was terminated had just made their $267.50 membership payment. To my knowledge, they have not had their money returned. I will gladly update this review if that happens. She may not be legally obligated to return money but morally and ethically, that's just a decent human thing to do, especially when you claim to care so much about respect and a supportive environment. I would never recommend this gym as long as the current owner is there. She's within her right to refuse service but I do not believe my termination was warranted. Mind you, at that point I had already cancelled my membership and had just 15 days left. In my opinion, her behavior follows the deny, attack, reverse victim and offender pattern, make of that opinion what you please. I am the average yoga participant who attends class, causes no issues, and goes home. There are many other establishments more worth your time and money. To be fair, there are two owners and the other one seems fine I guess. Never had an issue with her but she was also CCed on all of these emails and did absolutely nothing to stop her business partner from being unnecessarily rude and aggressive. If any current members want to see the email and text exchange, let me know and I will forward it in its entirety. jessica.radmaker@gmail.com

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience…read more I discovered I was still being charged for a membership that I had not used for months. When I attempted to contact the business to cancel, I was unable to reach anyone, and the voicemail box was full, preventing me from leaving a message. After posting a review, the owner called me. Rather than addressing my concerns professionally, the conversation quickly became defensive and hostile. I was told that the voicemail is often full because she owns a business, wears many hats, has four children, and Verizon limits voicemail storage. While I understand business owners are busy, that does not change the fact that customers need a reliable way to communicate regarding billing issues. I explained that I believed I had signed up for a one-month membership and was unaware that cancellation required advance notice. Instead of working toward a reasonable resolution, I was offered a free class in place of any consideration of the charges that had accumulated while I was not attending. When I declined, I was told the conversation was over. Most concerning, when I requested confirmation that my membership was canceled and my payment information removed, she hung up on me without that confirmation being provided. My frustration is not simply about the charges--it's about the lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism when trying to resolve a legitimate customer concern.
