I visited during the fall, so they had a great selection of fall and Halloween-themed figurines and ornaments. Service: First, the Brushfire team is incredibly polite and helpful, guiding first-timers through the process. While we're painting, they handle the glazing and firing of the pottery. The turnaround for finished pieces is about a week, but the studio holds onto them for up to a month in case you can't pick them up right away. Value: The basic studio fee is very reasonable; the cost mainly depends on which piece you choose to paint. Prices range from $5 to $80. I chose a figurine priced around $15, and I felt it was quite fair. Note: Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends, since this place attracts a lot of couples and families. We had an excellent time yet again! We typically paint small plates or the large bowls with the handles. It's been so interesting to see the plates and bowls they painted as very small children to what they paint now. We have plates and platters with footprints and handprints from when they were infants. Muletown Pottery has sort of documented our children's growth (in several ways) through the years. We looked through the Project Gallery, which had quite a variety of signs to choose from, and each of us selected a different one to make. These were the first signs any of us have ever made. They provided us with all the quality materials, tools, and personal instructions need for each project. The entire staff was personable, friendly, and knowledgeable with the variety of projects we choose from. Emily, was a godsend! She was very patient and detailed in answering our questions. She even assisted us when we doubted our ability. Kathy, the owner, was right there helping as needed while working with another group also. We never felt rushed. We brought a charcuterie tray and drinks with us to nibble and sip on as we worked. Such fun!! Keep in mind when picking projects and setting aside enough time to complete them, that the smaller signs could take an hour, the large ones can take two hours, and the real big ones can take even longer. The day of the party we asked to use restroom and were told both bathrooms were out of order and that we could go across the street to use another shop's restroom. The manager didn't seem too concerned and there were over 50 people in there at that time. The assistant was not trained on any questions we had about the pottery and when we asked about paint she was told to tell us they were out of the color the child was using and we would need to use another color. Most unprofessional people and place I have been in for some time. Don't go to this sight for pottery making. Definitely go somewhere else.

Just come here and throw your life away!…read more Located on the Old School Farm property this cozy ceramics studio is a great spot for beginners and those with a few years of pottery experience. I practiced ceramics for about five years and then school, work, and life got in the way. Fast forward to 2019 and I'm back on the wheel thanks to OSP. The classes here are super chill and offer all the basic needs for a successful novice potter. There are about ten wheels here which includes three standing wheels. There's also a slab roller and clay molds for hand building, if throwing on the wheel isn't your thing. The classes here will run about $190 for eight weeks which includes tools, discounted clay, unlimited glazings, and kiln firings. If eight weeks is too much of a commitment, they also one-off date night classes so you can take the class for test run. I know $192 may sound steep, but this farm is 100% a non-profit organization. So you're not only supporting the arts, but also a fully functioning farm as-well. Friday are free days if you're enrolled in a class, but will cost non-students $6.50 am hour. Bonus, you can grab beers from the restaurant upstairs and bring them to the studio. Yay for clay!

The studio is absolutely beautiful and the class was very easy for all levels as they said. The staff and owner were wonderful and very helpful. I am definitely going back for another workshop. Please remember that it will take some time to get your pieces back, as it requires time to dry and then bake. They estimated 3 weeks. They ship or if you're local, you can pick up your pieces. Overall this class is great if you want to be creative and make some keepsake items. Loved every minute of it!
