WONDERFUL!! Hotel Trundle is a GORGEOUS boutique hotel and tastefully put together with southern charm. As an Los Angeles native, I felt like I was at home. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and inviting. The lobby area is dotted with colorful chairs and features various books and boardgames to lounge away. Complimentary breakfast provided was a surprise bonus including some yummy Chicken Biscuits. Latoya, the guest services manager, was incredibly friendly and accommodating our early check request when we landed in town at 10AM. She provided warm hospitality right away and provided complimentary sparkling water/wine. Latoya also offered great recs for activities and restaurants nearby - HIGHLY recommend!

What a place! Perfect for a staycation that serves up the vibes. Hotel Trundle is clean and chic. The front desk is friendly. They have a complimentary welcome beverage. I received other treats as well at check-in. The room was large. The location is great to walk and enjoy downtown. Truly a wonderful experience. I can't wait for the next staycation.

    Everything is beautifully finished.

I want to share one thing so that I can get on with the rest of this review. Don't be fooled like I was! When I was looking for a place to stay in Columbia, I found the listing for this hotel and thought to myself "What a concept, a Hotel with all trundle beds!" Sadly, during my stay, not a trundle bed was to be found, apparently this was my misunderstanding, not the fault of the hotel. Still, a lost opportunity, perhaps. Having said that, Hotel Trundle is a comfortable boutique hotel located right in the heart of downtown Columbia, SC. Nearly everything in this hopping little town that I was interested in was within easy walking distance. The check-in process was seamless and the greeter at the front desk was outgoing and helpful. It's such a pleasure to interact with a person that appears to enjoy their job and are exceptional at it. The room itself was spacious and had a cute retro chic vibe to it, I especially appreciated the room layout which placed everything as if it was a loft apartment. Things such as the included refrigerator, microwave, bottled water/beverage service and coffee maker fell right to hand very naturally. The bath had modern fixtures and was well appointed in sort of a Scandinavian style which was a contrast to the decor in the room itself. A breakfast is included with the price of your room. Simply select from the on-line items offered that day and what time you would like them to be delivered to you the next morning. This process is well explained at check-in. My breakfast was delivered at the exact time of my request and was very satisfying. Try the yogurt with the fruit compote; all of my breakfast selections were great but the freshness of the yogurt and fruit knocked it out of the park. Included in-room coffee service was covered with a Keurig single cup machine, hotel logo diner-style mugs and beverage pods with Loveland Coffee Company offerings and tea. There is also a coffee service area adjacent to the check in desk which doubles as a well-stocked bar! They offer the ability to stream subscribed content from your phone to the in-room video entertainment. The instructions to accomplish this are clear and should be easy for anyone who is comfortable with modern technology. Otherwise there is a good lineup of standard channels to choose from which should keep you entertained. Something that impressed me during my visit was the attention to detail- little items that the hotel staff do with purpose made my stay just a little bit nicer. At first I balked at the daily fee for parking in their private lot, but I soon realized that it was well worth the money spent for the convenient location near the hotel's rear entrance and the ability to come and go but always be assured of having a parking spot when you return. Trust me on this that it is a good investment and will make your visit just a small bit more enjoyable. Check out was equally seamless and I was genuinely sad to have to leave this treasure of a hotel. The hostess at the desk asked me if I had enjoyed my stay, and I told her that there wasn't a thing that I could think of that I would want different. I really was as close to a perfect stay as I can recall at an hotel I have visited in my world travels. We eagerly look forward to our next visit to the charming and vibrant city of Columbia and Hotel Trundle. P.S. Looking for some fun? Check out the nearby Bang Back Pinball Lounge for some old school gaming fun. In addition to 20+ games to play, they have an excellent beverage and dining menu. You'll be glad that you did.

Service and cleanliness- 5 stars. After checking into our room, I took a quick nap on the very comfortable bed. An hour later we could hear people talking loud in the hall. We were at the end of the first floor so I guess there were a lot of patrons walking by at all hours. Next, the toilet was so high, it was most uncomfortable. Honestly I think the price was a bit high for a noisy room.

We were staying for a slightly extended weekend in Columbia and wanted to stay downtown. I chose this hotel based on price, convenience, the included breakfast, and its generally good reviews. I called ahead to find out about parking. It sounds like in normal (non-Covid) times, they may just have valet parking. However, now it is self-parking (which I actually prefer). You can either park in the lot adjacent to the hotel or, if it is full, pay $10 a day to park in a public garage across the street. We arrived around 3:30 p.m. on a Thursday. Check-in was easy; they have about 3 spots in front of the hotel for unloading, and you can take the bags up to the room before you have to move the car. The only thing I wasn't clear on was how to access their parking lot. I was sort of told I could turn in just past the hotel and access it - which was technically true. However, the adjacent alley turned out to be one-way (the opposite way). Luckily I didn't encounter anyone coming out. To access it the correct way, turn right at the corner traffic light and the parking entrance is the first right off that street... The lot is adequate, if a bit tight. There are around 8 - 10 regular spaces plus maybe 4 parallel parking in the exit-alley. We always found a space in the lot throughout our stay. You can also access the hotel (right at the elevator) from a door that opens onto the parking lot. They offer you a beer-on-tap or a mini-bottle of wine upon check-in. The guy who checked us in was very friendly and welcoming. All the staff we interacted with seemed really nice. They have 2 floors. We were on the upper floor overlooking the parking lot. We were initially apprehensive as we noted a hospital across the street. We were not sure whether we'd be hearing ambulances at all hours. However, I don't recall hearing any sirens at night. On our first night the adjacent rooms were likely empty; it was all very quiet. On our 2nd and 3rd nights, one or both adjacent rooms were occupied. The walls seemed pretty thin; our neighbors were not partying all night, so it wasn't a huge issue, though I could see this being a problem depending on who stayed there when... As for breakfast, it appeared that they probably ran a small buffet in normal times. Currently, however, it was more complicated. They had partnered with a breakfast / lunch place across the street. You would basically get a text at 4 p.m. daily, asking you to make your breakfast selection by 11 p.m. (I think). The menu had around 6 selections and you could request a 15-minute timeslot each morning (starting at 7 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends, I think). We used this on 2 out of 3 mornings and opted to go out to grab an earlier sit-down breakfast on our middle day. The food was okay, depending on how flexible you are and whether you liked any of their options. As for location, the hotel was within a block of Main Street in the heart of downtown. It was less than 2 blocks to the Columbia Museum of Art and about 6 blocks to the state capitol building. There were a lot of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. The Soda City Market (every Saturday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.) is on the closed-off Main Street, and is worth checking out. The only other tip I can offer is that you may not want to take the stairs to exit the building (vs. the elevator). The stairs let you out in back of the building where you can choose between two long alleyways to access a street. It was unexpectedly deserted that way, so we always left out the front door after one experience. I'd consider staying here again under similar circumstances.

Hotel Trundle definitely sets itself apart from other hotels in Columbia. Clean, comfortable and Posh yet elegant! Slightly eclectic all while preserving its beautiful historical architecture! From the time you enter the hotel everything is breathtaking! The front desk staff and very friendly and welcoming! I must say the tour of their standard room was my favorite part. The bathroom was clean and spacious and beautifully yet simply decorated. The room had high ceilings with a queen size bed, there was the most adorable retro style fridge and microwave in the room with a nice comfy sitting area. I really enjoy this experience and cannot wait to come back to stay!

Not only is Hotel Trundle conveniently located within walking distance of downtown Columbia it is gorgeous! You can tell every detail was thought out & intentionally designed. The staff is so helpful and went above & beyond for our Classic Night Out Package where we had a Sip & Stir experience + dinner at Hampton St Vineyards where we walked to. We will absolutely come back and we are local to Lexington this is the perfect staycation and so grateful to celebrate our anniversary here. Thank you for an experience to remember. Now I have to go buy me one of your robes I didn't want to take it off it's so cozy!! Bed super comfy. Room clean & crisp. Service from staff above & beyond. Knowledgeable on local area. Highly recommend

Very cute well located hotel that I would stay at again. All staff friendly and helpful. We were just in for a night and concert and this absolutely met our needs. Only downside was the breakfast. Just skip it and go out, plenty of places nearby. I'm sure where they get it from is fine, but by the time it's transported to your room... no. Gross. Parking easy, rooms clean, coffee was good... loved the pillows here.

This was my second start at Hotel Trundle and it was fantastic. It's a cute boutique hotel with both charm and comfort. During this stay, I brought my family and purchased the kids' Glamping Package. Our room was outfitted with an adorable tent, with kids books, cozy bedding, and a starry night light. The kids loved playing in the tent and my daughter slept in it one night. Our room was spacious, quiet, clean, and overall very comfortable. There is a small bar in the lobby, with beer and wine, with tons of artsy sitting spaces. There's also a great morning breakfast nook with coffee, tea, and bagels. The hotel does not have an on-site restaurant, but is walking distance to several great dining options AND offers breakfast delivery to your room each morning. I'll definitely stay here again and recommend it as a top choice for Columbia.

    Lovely sparkling rose at checkin!

Yelp Review by Captain 619…read more Spring has draped Columbia, South Carolina, in her finest gown--dogwoods blooming like lace, azaleas blushing at the sun, and a warmth that seeps into the soul. Amid this Southern reverie, I find myself on a six-day work mission, lodged at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott on 511 Lady Street. Let me tell you, friends, this isn't just another hotel--it's a sanctuary stitched with kindness. By day two, I realized the heartbeat of this place isn't just its crisp linens or spotless halls (though they shine brighter than most). No--it's the people. Each morning, descending the stairs feels like stepping into a hug. First, Shirley, with her radiant cheer, greets me like an old friend, her laughter a melody that chases the fog of sleep. Today, Debra stood beside her, her smile a quiet sunrise, her presence wrapping the breakfast nook in tranquility. Ah, the breakfast--far more than a complimentary perk. Here, the coffee isn't just poured; it's offered with a "How's your morning, sweetheart?" The pastries aren't just displayed; they're arranged with a tentative care, as if each item and yogurt cup were chosen for a loved one. I've stayed in countless hotels where the meal spread feels transactional, but here? It's nourishment--for the body and the spirit. Shirley remembers how I take my coffee. Debra and her calm voice a balm for this weary traveler's soul. It's the details, you see. The way the dining area hums with warmth, strangers swapping stories over scrambled eggs. The way the staff treats every guest--whether a road-worn business soul or a family passing through--like kin. Shirley and Debra don't just work here; they minister here, turning routine interactions into tiny acts of grace. Without them, this would've been another forgettable stay. But because of their excellence--their humanity--SpringHill Suites has etched itself into my memory. To the team: thank you for crafting not just a hotel, but a haven. To future guests: come for the comfort, stay for the hearts that make it shine. Captain 619 sails away with a full heart--and five stars, well earned.

My only two complaints are that the bed was hard as hell and there were stains on the curtains. It's like the wood bench-like thing over the A/C unit was stained and that stain got all over the bottom of the curtains. At least that's what I hope it was. I couldn't really tell but my suggestion would be to change the curtains out so no one has to guess what it is! Not sure I would visit again as I'm still sore 2 days later from trying to sleep on that hard mattress. If that's not important to you give it a try!

Breakfast is included in the morning- it is from 6-9AM though, so sort of had to get up early for breakfast. They had rolling carts to put your suitcases on, and it helped us bring our stuff to our room. Although, they should make their carts thinner because we had to squeeze the cart in our room. We did, and then returned the cart when we were done with it. My aunt asked about food options, and they didn't really seem to give any information, and it was the same receptionist who checked us in. Later on before heading out, the same receptionist gave vague information about the parking garage. Say things like the signs will tell you where to park, since we have assigned spots in that garage. I genuinely have very kind sentiments to the entire team. They are so kind, caring and nice. One of the front desk team members had a pup that went through the same illness as our sweet pup. Our pup adored her and would look for her every time she was at the hotel. Says a lot when a pup goes out of their way to say hi to someone. The woman at the front desk would also ask how our pup was doing when I was staying there and the pup was in the hospital. She was a kind and friendly face every time. While they are other hotels closer to CVETS this is my preferred hotel not just because it is pet friendly but because I found the rooms and space to be clean. The woman who puts out and tidies up the breakfast is very kind a lot of folks just seem to walk by her but I always stopped to say hi and ask how she was doing. She is such a friendly smile and does a brilliant job. When I was there you would never know how many folks had come and gone from eating. She was on top of it and kept everything tidied. Come to think of it I do not recollect a time where anything was out of stock or needed to be replenished. She was there tending to it before any of the items emptied. They had gluten free items available off the top of my head some of Udi's muffins comes to mind. I am not sure what else. Rooms were always clean and tidy. Never did I come across anything less than ideal or not fresh in the room. LOVE their beds similar to mine at home and very comfortable to sleep on. I really liked that the side doors all needed key card access. They also all closed and secured. I was very happy and felt safe because of this feature. If you forget your card, you can always walk around and go through the front. But I liked that the sides were secured and you genuinely had to use your keycard to access. Even staying in the hottest part of summer was always perfectly comfortable I liked the layout. Found the rooms quite quiet. It was easy to have DoorDash delivered. I just had then drop it off at my room. However, you can have it left with the front desk as I saw that happen a few times in passing. They do charge for parking but that was made clear to me from the time of booking. Parking lot is clean and nicely lit. Which I appreciated especially when taking a pup out for the last tinkle of the night. There is a pet waste disposal bin and pet waste bags too if you are out of then on your leash. There is a little store in the front. My bills were all accurate and points credited in a timely manner to my Marriott Bonvoy account.
