View from rooftop bar 9/6/26

Insanely overpriced drinks at the Rooftop bar. $22 a glass for house red wine. View is amazing, but price is criminal.

Came to the Moxy in Columbia for the weekend. Whenever I stay in a hotel it's usually a Moxy. We love the modern and fun decor and there's also so much to do while there. The Columbia location is on the corner of Main St and Gervias St. Check-in is on Main and parking for the hotel is Valet or street parking only. We decided on-street parking and followed the meter rules which was pretty simple. When you walk in the bar is the first thing you see and is also the check-in. The bartender is also your guest service attendant so that was pretty interesting. I would recommend a dedicated concierge just for checking in because it would help people get into their rooms more quickly when the bar is busy. The bartender serving us was pleasant, and professional, and checked us in smoothly. Our room was on the 8th floor and had a stunning view of the Capital building. Our room had everything we needed. I loved the mini fridge and the shower pressure was amazing. The bed was comfortable and cozy so we slept like babies. The hotel emphasizes the nightlife and the lobby was full pretty the entire night. The bartenders made us a Hennesy sidecar which was the best drink of the night. The taco truck next to the bar has amazing food. The staff was friendly recommending great options and service was fast. We also ate there for breakfast and it was delicious. The rooftop was nice but due to the cold, we couldn't enjoy it as much. The rooftop has an inside area but it was pretty busy. I love all the games throughout the hotel like tick tack toe, Jenga, and a skeeball table. This Moxy has adult fun on lock. I only wish the space was bigger. In conclusion, the hotel was a hit, and with a few tweaks, it will be the best hotel in the city!

The Moxy did not disappoint! This visit was everything and more!! From the time we arrived to check out everything was spectacular! The hotel offers a fun, inviting, intimate yet fun atmosphere! The rooms are minimalist yet posh! We reserved a windowless room and it was perfect! No noise issues here! Slept like a baby! The rooftop bar is another layer of added bliss! The only thing that would've made tge stay perfect was for the air in room and fridge to have been turned on prior to our arrival.

I travel a LOT for work, almost weekly- meaning I'm super harsh on hotels because I know what to look for when it comes to obvious red flags. I'm super picky about cleanliness because when you're away from home as much as me, you want it to feel as clean as your own place. This is by far the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. Every inch of my room was spotless. The bar downstairs was slammed while throwing a watch party and the bartender impressively kept up and didn't skip a beat. He was incredibly respectful and kept his cool despite it being super busy. Location is PRIME for anything downtown, and I had a great view of the capitol. The reviews that mention room size being an issue should research the brand, most Moxy hotels are efficiency sized rooms and the main draw is modern design. The lobby area is somewhere you *want* to be. Parking was easy to find nearby in a cheap garage, but valet it also offered. Rooms were super affordable. Will be making this my go-to hotel on my Columbia work trips!

Check in desk and downstairs bar

Super cool space and the BEST location. But the tiniest rooms you can imagine. I would totally stay here alone but it was very tight for two people. Service is great, beds are comfy. Just very tight spaces with very little storage. Downstairs bar is lovely. Rooftop bar is nice but super crowded and loud. Would like to check it out probably earlier in the evening b the views are STUNNING.

The large space for guests to play games.

She asked if I was checking into H2S and when I advised no she got snippy with me and asked why she sent me to that desk. Eventually, I got checked in. Leaving the elevator on the 2nd floor I was faced with a strong smell of urine (it may have been something else but smelled like urine). My room is spacious and clean. The thermostat does not work and you must control the air in the unit itself. It isn't a bad place to stay but it's definitely a 3-star (or less) hotel.

Walking up to the front desk, I simply needed to check in. The initial reaction, what do you need? No greeting....The response....checking in. Two hotel keys were requestedand received only one. The room itself was spacious and clean, but unfortunately, it smelled of smoke. During the evening, the weather was beautiful, and we were enjoying Columbia. I thought, "It's a hotel--things happen," and tried not to let the initial issues affect our stay. Unfortunately, after returning to the hotel, we stopped at the bar. Two gentlemen were already sitting there with their drinks. After about ten minutes, the manager came out and asked if we had been served. We said no, and he told us he would go get the bartender. Another ten minutes passed, and we decided to head toward the elevator. While we were in the elevator, the manager informed us that he had found the bartender. At that point, we said, "No, thank you." He apologized, but by then the opportunity to provide good service had passed. The breakfast experience was even more frustrating. When the room was booked , breakfast was added and prepaid. The online booking process was confusing, and prepaid for two breakfast buffets...this was added to the reservation. When we went to breakfast, the employee greeted us and handed us a menu. We explained that breakfast had already been charged to our room, but she questioned us about whether we had filled out a ticket when we arrived. At that point, I was thinking, "Please don't send me back to the uninformed desk clerk. I need someone to walk me through this again." She explained a ticket needed to be filled out upon arrival but she became upset. Lack of communication between departments isn't my problem. I decided I wasn't ordering anything and would simply grab a piece of toast. I was then informed that the toast was $4.00. I asked where the butter was and was told that they don't put it out. Syrup, peanut butter, and every type of jelly are sitting out--and apparently, butter isn't simply available with the toast. At that point, the entire situation became frustrating. I eventually told the employee that I understood this wasn't her fault, but I was simply over the lack of hospitality and service throughout the stay. I was also disappointed that the manager did not appear to take accountability for the lack of service from his employees. My advice to anyone considering this hotel: Be prepared, ask questions, and make sure you fully understand what is included with your reservation--especially when it comes to breakfast and additional charges. The biggest issue for me wasn't one isolated incident. It was the repeated lack of communication, service, and hospitality. If you need to book this hotel, go in knowing exactly what you're paying for and what to expect. Otherwise, you may want to reconsider making the reservation.

First off - the front doors are not open due to construction so entrance is through the Ruth Chris steak house. Reception is located in the hallway on makeshift plastic desks. I requested headphones and person at the desk was trying to avoid getting up and handing me a pair so I asked three times before I got it. Room is clean but worn out. AC is old and tired and getting temperature right is an art form. Water pressure in the shower is great - but keeping water hot is hard. It was either too hot or too cold. There is no complementary bottled water or even one to buy in the room. No clocks or alarms, and certainly no microwave. I ventured in the morning to the front desk to buy coffee and they had none. They directed me to the Ruth Chris steak house for breakfast at $18 a person which comes with coffee. No individual coffee available. Of course I had to wait for restaurant to open. Pool is not operational. Elevators are slow. I was charged twice for valet and had to argue to get it taken off. Let's face it - this is not a hotel. It is a Ruth Chris steak house with attached rooms. Shame on you Hilton!!! I am going back to Marriott!

I booked The 1425 Inn on Expedia in July for a weekend in November as we were going to visit my child at U of South Carolina. I made sure that the rate was refundable and that we would not pay anything until we arrived on site because our plans were not yet confirmed. A couple of weeks later I notice the 1425 Inn had charged my credit card even though I had made sure that our booking would not require a deposit or any type of payment. I canceled the booking and expected that the money they charged would be refunded to my credit card. Several weeks pass and the 1425 Inn did not refund me. I contacted Expedia and they said they would investigate. A couple days later Expedia informed me that the 1425 Inn REFUSED TO REFUND my money. I was shocked. I re-read the booking and the cancellation all of which stated that I would not be charged if I canceled by Nov 3rd (I canceled in August). I don't know what kind of business practice this place employs but taking my money without consent and refusing to refund it to me is STEALING. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD NOT BOOK, LET ALONE STAY, AT THE 1425 INN.

They let me put my bag down in a room while I stepped out for lunch. I returned later to a clean and beautiful room (The Gervais) on the bottom floor. Besides the cozy room, there was a big living area that always had soft drinks, water, snacks, and even wine at the ready. For breakfast, I enjoyed some yogurt and fruit. One of my favorite parts of the inn was all of the art on the wall. Most of it is for sale from local artists and you're invited to walk around the different rooms that are not occupied to take a look. There was a small parking lot in the back. In the evening, I had dinner on Main Street and opted to have a nice walk which took about 15 minutes. Perfect location! I only stayed for one night but would certainly love to return for longer.

This hotel feels very new despite some reviews being from a year ago. Everything from the lobby to the guest rooms were spotless and well maintained to us. Check in was easy, the staff were friendly throughout our stay, and the overall experience was smooth from start to finish. Our room was surprisingly spacious and included two queen beds plus a fold-out sofa/futon, giving us plenty of room to spread out after a long day of exploring nearby Congaree. The beds were comfortable, but the real MVP of the room was the shower. The water pressure was absolutely marvelous - a small thing that frequent travelers understand can make a huge difference. Parking did come with a modest $5 fee, which wasn't ideal, but it certainly wasn't enough to detract from the experience. Breakfast the following morning was solid with plenty of options to fuel up before hitting the road. The refrigerator every time it shut off it sounded like someone knocking at the door. Dirty glass found in the nightstand and they don't clean well at all. Luckily I brought disinfectant wipes with me. Never again will I stay here.
