Bistro Ad... actually has some good stuff
    Omari D.

This hotel is clearly new and everything about it was great given my recent stay. They are conveniently located near the MUSC Health Center (Medical University of South Carolina)... walking distance as a family member recently had some surgery done. Ideal for family & friends and also for recovering before hitting the road home (home is about 2 hours away). This area is being built up so not much around, but over time it will have things better than fast food chains. The rooms are clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The lobby setup is great with the food center/bistro and bar available for guests. The price point is a tad bit high, but still in range like any other traveling destination. My room size works, but know that the shower is small (and behind the door in the bathroom) so I didn't have much room to stretch out, but not a deal breaker unless you're staying for a long duration. The one issue was my fridge... it worked, but it would "knock" with a noise every so often. Figured it was just the way it was sitting in the cabinet. I moved it around, probably just needs to be better secured. Again, nothing major but if I was a light sleeper that night, it would have bothered me to the point of unplugging. The staff made this a great stay as I was a frequent visitor of the bistro for food and beverages but friendly in passing and helpful when we needed like a wheelchair for assisting my family from the room to the car.

This hotel is pretty basic for the Marriott, but it is clean, it is quiet, it's close to the freeway so it's easy to find, they have a small deli that serves coffee, breakfast and evening appetizers (for a fee of course) and the staff were wonderful, kind and helpful (thank you for everything Miss Barbara & Miss Michelle). We will absolutely return here if we're in the area.

    Textured Toilet Seat peeling.

The Hotel Looked fairly new. Outside looked very nice, the Lobby was nice and clean. I was disappointed with the room. The bathroom toilet seat was textured and coating was peeling, very unsanitary. There is no way this toilet seat could be cleaned properly and sanitary! Paint was peeling on the ceiling in the bathroom. I hate to focus what may seem like small details after everything else was nice, but these are the details that shouldn't be overlooked.

I stayed here for two nights in February 2017. The hotel lobby is quite nice, and the staff is very friendly. My room was clean. The beds (both of them) squeaked horribly. I started in one bed and soon realized it was squeaky so moved to the other one only to hear the same sound. Sigh. The air conditioner was a little loud, but it worked well. The bathroom was nice, and I loved the fact that there was both a fridge and microwave. I had a real problem with the squeaky beds and with the fact that the bathroom door would not stay closed. I like a steamy shower, and the bathroom door wouldn't stay closed for me to have one. Check out was s cinch. I ordered a Maker's neat at the bar, and was given a hefty drink (thank you, bartender). All-in-all, I think it's a nice hotel. If you're assigned room 231 you might ask if the door and beds have been fixed.

Nice say. South Park is a great brand new part of town. Can walk to a few nice restaurants from the Courtyard or a short drive.

Yelp Review by Captain 619…read more Spring has draped Columbia, South Carolina, in her finest gown--dogwoods blooming like lace, azaleas blushing at the sun, and a warmth that seeps into the soul. Amid this Southern reverie, I find myself on a six-day work mission, lodged at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott on 511 Lady Street. Let me tell you, friends, this isn't just another hotel--it's a sanctuary stitched with kindness. By day two, I realized the heartbeat of this place isn't just its crisp linens or spotless halls (though they shine brighter than most). No--it's the people. Each morning, descending the stairs feels like stepping into a hug. First, Shirley, with her radiant cheer, greets me like an old friend, her laughter a melody that chases the fog of sleep. Today, Debra stood beside her, her smile a quiet sunrise, her presence wrapping the breakfast nook in tranquility. Ah, the breakfast--far more than a complimentary perk. Here, the coffee isn't just poured; it's offered with a "How's your morning, sweetheart?" The pastries aren't just displayed; they're arranged with a tentative care, as if each item and yogurt cup were chosen for a loved one. I've stayed in countless hotels where the meal spread feels transactional, but here? It's nourishment--for the body and the spirit. Shirley remembers how I take my coffee. Debra and her calm voice a balm for this weary traveler's soul. It's the details, you see. The way the dining area hums with warmth, strangers swapping stories over scrambled eggs. The way the staff treats every guest--whether a road-worn business soul or a family passing through--like kin. Shirley and Debra don't just work here; they minister here, turning routine interactions into tiny acts of grace. Without them, this would've been another forgettable stay. But because of their excellence--their humanity--SpringHill Suites has etched itself into my memory. To the team: thank you for crafting not just a hotel, but a haven. To future guests: come for the comfort, stay for the hearts that make it shine. Captain 619 sails away with a full heart--and five stars, well earned.

My only two complaints are that the bed was hard as hell and there were stains on the curtains. It's like the wood bench-like thing over the A/C unit was stained and that stain got all over the bottom of the curtains. At least that's what I hope it was. I couldn't really tell but my suggestion would be to change the curtains out so no one has to guess what it is! Not sure I would visit again as I'm still sore 2 days later from trying to sleep on that hard mattress. If that's not important to you give it a try!

This was about 2 hours away from where i reside currently. This hotel is near downtown and was about maybe 10 minutes to the arena and nearby food options. It has parking, and one can also park in the parking garage. We arrived at 2:25PM, checked in, and said our room was not ready. Okay... then they changed the room, did ask us if we wanted a high floor, but then after what seemed like 30 minutes, the room was finally prepared for us and ready. Oh, and side note, it seemed like the receptionist was training or new or something. But it's okay! Upon Check in, they gave us a free snack and 2 waters for each guest. Thought that was cool. The room was with 2 bedrooms and the couch. The couch also came out like a bed, and was an extra Room was small, but very comfortable. Hotel was also clean inside and out. Breakfast is included in the morning- it is from 6-9AM though, so sort of had to get up early for breakfast. I also noticed that in the lobby they also had a restaurant that served drinks and some food. Not sure if the food served is just appetizers or not, but still an option. They had rolling carts to put your suitcases on, and it helped us bring our stuff to our room. Although, they should make their carts thinner because we had to squeeze the cart in our room. We did, and then returned the cart when we were done with it. My aunt asked about food options, and they didn't really seem to give any information, and it was the same receptionist who checked us in. Later on before heading out, the same receptionist gave vague information about the parking garage. Say things like the signs will tell you where to park, since we have assigned spots in that garage. We don't know, it's our first time in Columbia! Show off your town and explain things! Now, we did find a pamplet inside our room with food options in it, and we took a look. We then decided to head out to the concert. At night we headed back, found our way through the garage including where to park, and went to our room. Fell right asleep, as it was comfortable in the hotel. The next morning was breakfast, and Loved the breakfast choices, including the pancakes! I had pancakes, cereal, and a small bagel and coffee. The pancakes were good, although around the edges were a little crispy and hard to cut-- but managable. Checked out a few minutes after breakfast, and it was an easy checkout, and pleasant. Hope to consider this place again should we see a concert in columbia!

I genuinely have very kind sentiments to the entire team. They are so kind, caring and nice. One of the front desk team members had a pup that went through the same illness as our sweet pup. Our pup adored her and would look for her every time she was at the hotel. Says a lot when a pup goes out of their way to say hi to someone. The woman at the front desk would also ask how our pup was doing when I was staying there and the pup was in the hospital. She was a kind and friendly face every time. While they are other hotels closer to CVETS this is my preferred hotel not just because it is pet friendly but because I found the rooms and space to be clean. The woman who puts out and tidies up the breakfast is very kind a lot of folks just seem to walk by her but I always stopped to say hi and ask how she was doing. She is such a friendly smile and does a brilliant job. When I was there you would never know how many folks had come and gone from eating. She was on top of it and kept everything tidied. Come to think of it I do not recollect a time where anything was out of stock or needed to be replenished. She was there tending to it before any of the items emptied. They had gluten free items available off the top of my head some of Udi's muffins comes to mind. I am not sure what else. Rooms were always clean and tidy. Never did I come across anything less than ideal or not fresh in the room. LOVE their beds similar to mine at home and very comfortable to sleep on. I really liked that the side doors all needed key card access. They also all closed and secured. I was very happy and felt safe because of this feature. If you forget your card, you can always walk around and go through the front. But I liked that the sides were secured and you genuinely had to use your keycard to access. Used my mobile key most of the time and worked perfectly every time. All the air conditioners worked great! Even staying in the hottest part of summer was always perfectly comfortable I liked the layout. Found the rooms quite quiet. It was easy to have DoorDash delivered. I just had then drop it off at my room. However, you can have it left with the front desk as I saw that happen a few times in passing. They do charge for parking but that was made clear to me from the time of booking. Parking lot is clean and nicely lit. Which I appreciated especially when taking a pup out for the last tinkle of the night. There is a pet waste disposal bin and pet waste bags too if you are out of then on your leash. There is a little store in the front. My bills were all accurate and points credited in a timely manner to my Marriott Bonvoy account. (Which I have come to appreciate as that is not the same for every Marriott property.) TL;DR Loved the staff, nice hearty breakfast and clean. Would stay there again, recommended to CVETS for other out of town patients and would to anyone else in the area. Liked their beds and bedding!
