Can I give 12 out of 5 stars?!?!?! Amazing hotel right in the heart of Roma!
Location: Absolutely PERFECT! 5 minute walk north to the Pantheon, 20 mins east to the Colosseum, 25 mins west to Vatican City, 12 mins south to Travestere. We literally only had to call a car to get from the airport to the hotel & from the hotel to the train station. Also, anytime we felt overheated, we headed back to the room to shower & change & enjoy a "respertivo" until closer to sunset. Kept us from getting too sunburned or too cranky.
Air Conditioning: FANTASTIC!!!!! I was very pleasantly surprised!
Elevator: Tiny like most elevators in Roma but worked great.
Laundry Service: HUGE BLESSING! I so appreciated this service when sweating through 2 changes of clothes every day!
Housecleaning: PHENOMENAL! Someone was cleaning pretty much constantly. We even saw a young man wiping down the walls with cleaner one morning. We left at all hours of the morning, as early as 6 am & as late as 11 am, left the "Please Make Up The Room" sign on the door & without fail, when we came back 4+ hours later, the bed & bathroom were fresh with all new linens.
Concierge: SO PROFESSIONAL & HELPFUL! Even when we were silly Americans that didn't understand simple things, all of the front desk staff were so friendly, welcoming & easy to chat with. Each person stressed to dial 9 for anything, anytime. We asked for a restaurant recommendation our first night and WOW!! Did NOT disappoint! (Est Artigiani Del Gusto, where I'll be leaving my next 5 star review! NOT the same as EST Ristorante, be sure to look for "Del Gusto")
Bed: So this is the only complaint someone could make & not a very reasonable one when you think about it just a bit. The "king size" bed is really 2 twins pushed together & they are on roller frames that roll apart easily. When you engage in....marital affection...you end up in a chasm between the two mattresses. (We had a hilarious moment & almost died of laughter.) But honestly, this city is ancient & the buildings in the historic district are centuries old. How would they get a king mattress down the halls, nonetheless through these doors? So you just need to adjust a little to one mattress. No biggie. The mattresses were VERY comfortable for sleeping & the sheets were soft.
Bathroom: PERFECT! Large room, large shower, with a swivel glass door that ensures you don't splash all over the floor (like a lot of other places with the tiny glass) & both a rain shower head & a handheld. The water got HOT for showers and COLD for drink refills. Hair dryer, bidet, LOTS of lighting options & the make up mirror was a nice little surprise.
Staying at Hotel Della Torre Argentina made our whole trip so much easier & comfortable than expected! We will tell ALL our friends that if they ever make it to Roma, they MUST stay here & nowhere else!! read more
