Located a couple blocks from the train station, the area this hotel is located in is on the janky side. Once inside, the hotel lobby and lounge have a dated feel from a 1960's swingin' Italian art film. Staff are friendly and speak English. Some are helpful but for others customer service is not a top priority. Rooms are small yet clean, quiet, and comfortable. Housekeeping did a fine job. They lack some amenities that higher level hotels provide (ie - facial tissue, bottled water, extra towels). This is not a luxury hotel so no slippers or robes. Our shower drained painfully slow so that I always found myself standing in water. They do offer a free breakfast buffet that was basic but decent. They have priority taxi service so let the front desk know you need one and a taxi will be in front of the hotel in a couple minutes. From this hotel it is a half hour walk to the Colosseum and a bit longer to the Spanish Steps or Trevi Fountain. An "okay" choice for a hotel in Rome. Nothing fancy but adequate if you mostly need a bed to sleep in.

3.5 stars! Overall the inside was nice boutique style and clean. Welcoming atmosphere and great location to do touristy things. They had a full American breakfast with eggs sausage quiche pasta toast cheese coffee and expresó. Every night they hosted a happy hour downstairs from 5-9pm and the drinks were 5E and you can eat all the appetizers you want (lots of choices). The downside was all the places to eat around the hotel where very touristy and "Americanized". I recommend going to travistere or the Jewish ghetto for food. Staff- AMAZING staff! From Georgette and Alyssa in the front desk to the bartender Albert at happy hour! Everyone made us feel welcome and was more than helpful. They provide a tourist no to help you get around and see all the things. Georgette even helped me find some vintage shops to go shopping : ) Room- My understanding is that all rooms in Rome tend to be small. With that in mind I felt ours was just Okay. There was only one mirror in the bathroom, and no where to put my make up or things to get ready so this was a small challenge for me. The shower was tiny but had a handheld spout to make it easier to wash. All the outlets are 220 so we had to buy a converter. Lots of light switches and no labels . The bed was comfy and air conditioner was great. Location- The location is close to most tourist attractions or within a 15-20 minute walk. It is also around the corner from the terminal station to catch buses, subways, and trains. With that you have the normal terminal experience of homeless and lots of street vendors. The street the hotel is on its self feels safe but if you go too far right you may not feel so. We took the subway/trolley once and I had a bad experience with a pickpocket grabbing me- so that was the last time. We just walked or used Uber Black. I was told taxi may have been cheaper but we had a group of 5 so it made more sense for us to use Uber. In general when in Rome you will see a lot of beggars and you will see a lot of the same ones at different locations. We took three tours while in Rome and all guides said the same thing. The beggars are rich don't support them.

Party of six booking 3 rooms for a three-night stay at the Hotel Ariston. On the positive, the hotel is a short walk from the Stazione di Roma Termini, one of the main railway stations in the city. At check- in, I was surprised to learn that only ONE key card is issued per room. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The layout of the three rooms was a little strange. The rooms reminded me of the Griswolds in the 80's movie "National Lampoon's European Vacation." The hotel offers free Wi-Fi, but it's goes in and out. The area surrounding the hotel seems dumpy and has several touristy restaurants. The free continental breakfast was OK.

This is what the website claims their rooms look like.

DO NOT BE FOOLED!!!! The photos on this hotel's website are not what you actually get for the price! Upon checking into a beautiful lobby, you take tiny elevators up to what seems to be a re-vamped hostel. First, this hotel is in a BAD part of town. Be prepared to have people try to rob you if you go outside at night. Rooms are small, dirty, full of holes and mold in the walls; sheets are left dirty and the bathrooms are equipped with showers fit for a 5 year old or smaller. We were traveling with a baby, and paid extra for a crib- which was given to us with visible dirt on the sheets (photos below). The staff refused to let us speak with management upon check in, and told us that we would be able to change rooms tomorrow, but could not guarantee they would look as though the photos online in their advertisements appear. This hotel is 110% NOT worth the price!!!

Happy hour on Friday and Saturday nights

Breakfast is included if you're a Hilton gold member or higher, and has a great selection of items. Some of the rooms include a terrace, which is a great feature when the weather is nice.

That made the location extremely convenient. The hotel sits a short walk from Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, where Pope Francis is buried. Some areas near the main train station are often described as unsafe by Italian standards. We did not experience that near the hotel. Tourists and locals were out late, and the neighborhood stayed active into the evening. Rome is compact and easy to navigate. Most major attractions felt reachable within about 20 minutes by taxi, bus, or rail. We tried to visit the Trevi Fountain at 10:00 pm to avoid crowds. That plan failed completely(see pic). It was packed. Locals eat later than in the U.S., and many parts of the city stay busy well into the night. Restaurants remain open late. A note for U.S. travelers. European hotel rooms run smaller for the price. Even using Hilton points, our room would have cost close to $700 per night USD and felt small. The hotel offers a pleasant rooftop bar and a spacious lobby with multiple seating areas. The buffet breakfast was a solid, comfortable way to start the day. It was included for us as Hilton Diamond members. I am unsure of the cash price. Overall, the location and amenities make this a smart pre-cruise choice, especially for travelers relying on rail connections.

However, it is quietly nestled in a beautiful little neighborhood. It is very quiet and quaint. Upon arrival we were greeted with the welcoming staff and escorted into the ruins beyond the lobby where we were brought a lovely tiramisu welcome treat to enjoy while taking in the ruins. The room is impressively large with a huge bathroom. We had a plush king sized bed with cozy down bedding. The thick beautiful curtains ensured that the room was perfectly dark for great sleep even if we wanted a mid day nap. There was a lovely little balcony with a view of the courtyard. With the curtains open the natural light is perfect. The bed was comfortable and we Sisto very nicely here. The bathroom is very big with a walk in shower and bidet with all toiletries needed to have a comfortable stay. I will say I was a bit bummed that the tile warmer was not functional but the hotel was very kind offering anything to make sure that we were happy. This was not a problem and we stayed in this room as warming towels us a perk but not a requirement. I would also note that the building is quite old and the bathroom had a metallic smell perhaps from the pipes of older plumbing but it was fine as long as we kept the bathroom door closed. I think the hotel was really concerned that we were upset but we absolutely were not just keep in mind this building is antique and if you are coming from the US where everything is new and not used to a potential aroma of antiquity be prepared to experience a true European city and do not complain. All details are thought of here including mini bar, clothes steamer, hair dryer, toiletries and a welcome gift. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. They are always ensuring that we were comfortable and happy. We absolutely loved our stay here. The hotel is a special place and experience. The nostalgia of standing and staying where the Romans once stood 2000 years ago was definitely a treat! The hotel has a rooftop terrace where we enjoyed breakfast in the mornings and wine in the evening. The lounge just inside of the terrace is cozy and comfortable to enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail in the evening and there's a cozy fireplace to warm up, which we took full advantage of after a long wet rainy day in the colosseum and Roman forum. We had a great stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special Roman experience. We will definitely be back!

The hotel called an ambulance which took me to the closest hospital and Armando from the staff walked to the hospital with my wife and daughter and accompanied them for over an hour helping to communicate with hospital personnel and didn't leave until he knew I was being cared for. After my hospital visit was over and we went back to the hotel the staff helped translate my order and prescriptions. They were so helpful with everything else. They gave us a very good walking map of Rome with highlighted routes, a list of restaurants that they recommended and we were not disappointed in any that we went to, they scheduled taxi pickups, had umbrellas for the rain a great breakfast with awesome cappuccino and lattes and a happy hour. The rooms are comfy and very clean, the shower water flow is unreal ( felt like I was standing under a water fall). The staff at this place and I mean every one of them made me feel so welcomed and went above and beyond to help us with our needs. If I ever make it back Rome this is the only place I want to stay!
