The check-in process was smooth and very easy, which set the tone for a great stay. The room was truly unforgettable. I had a balcony overlooking the main shopping street, and the views were incredible. One of the most unique features was the ceiling windows--at night, we could see the stars right above us, and in the morning, we woke up to light snowfall and a clear, breathtaking view of the Matterhorn. It was an unbelievably spectacular experience. The hotel also has a restaurant and bar on the first floor, both of which were excellent and added even more convenience and enjoyment to the stay. I absolutely loved this hotel and would choose it again without hesitation. It would definitely be my first choice whenever I return to Zermatt.

We had a spacious room with view to the "Toblerone" - apart of that very nicely renovated, bathroom with bath top, minibar and Coffee machine. Wellness area with indoor swimming-pool, jacuzzi indoor and outdoor, ski room, which is even pleasant and a restaurant which serves great food - especially considering that hotel restaurants do not have the best reputation. Everything from our rooms to the spa, upstairs bar, ski room, morning taxi service, front desk staff and breakfast was fantastic! Unfortunately, our 7 included dinners were horrendous! On a positive note...Dennis, our bartender, was an absolute rockstar! He took amazing care of our entire group and was a friendly, attentive, sociable, and an all-around amazing person! Thank you! You really made our stay! Dinner was consistently one of the worst dining experiences I have ever experienced. The salad bar was decent and the dining room was cute, but our waitress (Natalia?) was a useless idiot. The unpalatable meals took a ridiculous amount of time each night despite being a fixed menu. Our waitress could barely manage to clear plates, never mind serve us or take drink orders. Over half of our 45 person group ended up eating elsewhere due to the awful service and food quality. Dish after dish was sent back uneaten every night, but nothing was done to rectify the situation. I spoke with the front desk about alternative food choices and was at least able to set up a delicious fondue dinner for 10 of us for a 15 CHF upgrade per person one night. But every other meal was a major disappointment! We paid a lot of money for an upset stomach, awful service and hours of wasted time. I at least expected some sort of compensation from management after so many people complained and skipped dinners, but nothing was done. I'm extremely disappointed in the overall experience. Food is such a huge part of travel, and this hotel missed the mark. Eat literally anywhere else! Zermatt is full of fantastic eateries.

They smoke freely here which is a no for me. Dinner notes below. Service is unfortunately slow. They seem to be understaffed. It took several requests to get water and pita refills. Setting is dark and eclectic. Wine selection is solid. Mezze to start, with pita chips, hummus and eggplant as standouts. Kofte was interesting but the tabbouleh had a disconcerting consistency. The Korean fried chicken was too salty and sweet. The eggplant curry was a hit and happened to be a massive portion. Fries were pedestrian.

From our balcony (one of two in our room) we had a view of the Matterhorn mountain and the Kirchplatz town square where there were performances in the evening. There were two bathrooms and a walk-in closet area with four large closets. There was a television in each of the two principle areas. The hotel staff was great. They provided information about the local lifts, trains, spa-gym, restaurants, and other town services. When I mentioned that one of the multiple lightbulbs in one of the bathrooms was out, it was replaced in less than an hour. The hotel had WebCam views from the various mountain peaks. Use of the spa-gym was included. The breakfast at the hotel was excellent and complementary transportation was provided for the short trip to and from the train station.
