Our bags were taken in from the car, we were offered cappuccinos, and we were even able to check in early. The room was fresh, clean, and really pretty. The bathroom is narrow but very nice and the shower has so many options for water flow and pressure. The bed was really comfy and they gave us complimentary sleep kits with ear plugs and masks, which we happily used. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, they answered every question we had, and gave us plenty of tips and recommendations. Like this one: if you need your laundry done, there's a place around the corner called Arcoíris/Rainbow. It's cash only, and the closest ATM is down the road a few minutes called Gym Tonic. It's €25 and they will deliver it to your hotel! We only ate breakfast once, but it has lots of options and variety and you can order custom omelets and coffee. We did eat at the hotel restaurant M'ama and really enjoyed it. The food was great, the view was spectacular, the wine was delicious, and it was so nice to walk back to the room right after dinner!

From the hotel employees who greeted us and showed us to the restaurant, to every single person on the waitstaff, to the chef himself - all incredible. We opted for the smaller tasting menu for dinner which came with so much more than what was listed on the menu. The meal itself was creative and was beyond delicious - plus pure art in presentation - and the wine pairing was absolutely brilliant...Perhaps one of the best we've experienced. We wanted for absolutely nothing the entire evening and were made to feel like family, especially when the chef paid us a visit. I had to chase daily for 2 days before receiving a response, which came on a Saturday. "We'll try but the vets are now closed"... yeah because you sat on it until a weekend. I then had to chase again when I got to the hotel and was told that the girl who was dealing with it was not in, and would be in the following morning. The next day I called down to reception to ask what was going on and was told it had not been possible. Zero proactivity. Service in Italy has in general been a hot mess this summer, but it takes no time at all to reply to an email.

Dash was an excellent server and very attentive. The snacks they gave with our cocktails were also delicious. The cocktails were good. Of note, in Italy, cocktails are just basic mixed drinks but they were still well made and tasted delicious so that's what matters. They also had an extensive cocktail list which was nice as most of the Amalfi Coast doesn't have an extensive cocktail list. The view here is gorgeous. It is a really nice romantic place or also just a place to watch the sky change colors as the sun goes down. It's a phenomenal view.

So, when we booked a summer trip to Italy, there was no question that Pompeii was a must see. Booking a hotel was easy because there's really one property with great reviews and that's Hotel Diana. For 75 Euros a night, the price was just right. Due to some absurd travel delays, we ended up rolling in on the last train of the night from Naples. . . and it, apparently, went to the wrong train station in town. We called the hotel at 11 PM and explained our problem: the train station was now closed, there were no taxis, and we were the only ones there. The front desk clerk called us a taxi, who showed up shortly and gave us a ride. I didn't realize how wrong the wrong train station was until we drove over 20 minutes just to get to the property. For the record, the "right" train station is literally half a block from the hotel. Oops! Make sure you're choochooing into the right place, friends. When we got there, we were checked in promptly and given keys to our room. The room is sort of garishly decorated, but whatever. It was clean, it was a good size, and it had an ice cold ac. The bathroom was a good size and very clean. Despite our late arrival, the front desk agent pointed us to a pizza place down the street that was still open. Can I tell you? Literally the best pizza I have ever had. Phenomenal! And like, half a block from the hotel. Pizzeria Alleria, check them out. So good we went back twice. We slept well, grabbed the free breakfast in the morning (which was fine), and headed to Pompeii. Now, for some reason, I thought the Hotel Diana was right next to Pompeii, but it is not. You've got to walk about 10 minutes, which isn't much. Well, it's supposed to be 10 minutes, but we made a wrong turn and it took us quite a bit longer than it should have. Oops. There also seemed to be a rather happening hot spot right down the street from the hotel, so if that's your thing, that's a plus. Check out was easy and they helped us figure out the train schedule, which was much appreciated. All in all, I would definitely suggest Hotel Diana. It's got a great location, friendly staff, and great pricing.
