Looking for an unforgettable honeymoon? Look no further. Hotel Villa Franca is it. Breath taking views from pool AND rooms. Service is impeccable. The white decoration provides a sophisticated ambiance. It sits on the top of a mountain as you can see in one of my pictures. My room had a large balcony where we could enjoy the view of the hills and sea. The place is sparkly clean, and the service impeccable. Everything about this place exudes luxury. including the pool. You have to walk or get a shuttle to go to the village and the beach.

This picture is further up the coast.

This is a nice smaller boutique hotel. Very clean well maintained. This sits on the top of the hill in local city. It has amazing views, If you're in fairly good shape I recommend taking the stairs down to the beach and having lunch or dinner. There are plenty of amazing restaurants in Art Galleries within walking distance. But you will need to take a taxi back up because it is a lot of stairs.

This hotel has views that will take your breath away. The food is insane. It was the kind that you see people eating in the movies, not real life. Breakfast was an absolute treat. PIZZA over looking the Amalfi Coast for breakfast? Are you kidding me?? No, it wasn't just a dream. The hotel smells like you've entered a spicy Garden of Eden. Everyone makes you feel as if you are the some kind of vip. If you end up here, ensure you book the Path of the Gods hike with Fulvio. I cannot think of a more pleasant hotel to spend a significant Anniversary.

This enchanting gem, tucked away at the top of the hill in Positano, is paradise. The rooms are spotless and elegant, with a private balcony complete with a sea-view. The maid service always did a phenomenal job tidying our room and refilling all the toiletries and towels. The entire staff is formal, helpful, professional, and knowledgeable. The wine sommelier is an expert, the restaurant manager is extraordinary, and the bartender is brilliant. The men and women at concierge will book you fabulous tours at a moment's notice, and help arrange ANY activity you can possibly imagine. The shuttle to and from the center of town makes your explorations just a little bit easier as well. The breakfast buffet was utterly fabulous--every morning the gentleman that runs it greeted us and delivered as much coffee/tea/espresso/etc. drinks as we needed to refuel. The limitless options offered every morning were so enticing, we always enjoyed ourselves. From the little brioche buns and croissants, to the freshest and sweetest fruit I've ever enjoyed, or the breakfast pizza available every day, and staples like eggs, bacon and yogurt, it was a wonderful way to start the day. Grabbing a table near the veranda and enjoying the view was simply the cherry on top. Dinner at the restaurant was an affair not to be missed. It was our first meal in Positano and it set the tone for everything. The amuse bouche was always excellent, our foie gras starter was insanely delicious, both entrees were of course perfect, and the lavish desserts were beyond satisfying. Finally, the roof-top pool, lounges and bar were a wonderful way to unwind after a day of exploring! I cannot begin recommend and praise this little bastion of civility and luxury enough.

Even though we were staying in our own place in Positano, we decided to rent the largest suite they had here. GORGEOUS views, spotless room, incredible staff at the hotel and just an overall dream. If you get a chance to stay here then please do. It is situated at the top of Positano and could not ask for a better position. Memories for ages.

Loved this hotel! We came at the end of the travel season, end of October, and we enjoyed the cool and sunny weather. The hotel staff was absolutely top notch which is why this place is rated 5. The pool area was closed because of the ending season however were able to sit and enjoy the sun. The main floor had large sitting chairs which we thoroughly enjoyed both before and after dinner was so relaxing. And our dinner at Le Galli was legendary. My husband went with their classic pastas with meatballs and about died!!! Meatballs were deliciously juicy and had so much flavor. A few cons might be the wifi was spotty.... Our shower head was just so-so... And the shuttles to and from town was too and far between. Overall the hotel was lovely, rooms were adorable and comfy, the Coastal views were amazing, and the staff...5.

This hotel was one of the best we've ever stayed at. Not only was it miraculously clean the service there was amazing. My husband and I were unfamiliar with the area and relied solely on the hotels recommendations and they were all incredible. From restaurants to tours and excursions they never steered us wrong. The amenities that come along with this are also amazing. We spent a good amount of time at the roof deck pool and bar. It had 360 views of positano that we enjoyed very much almost everyday. Overall, I would recommend to anyone this property.

Fabulous hotel - lovely property - extremely helpful staff. We just loved Hotel Villa Franca. It was a last minute booking as we chose to depart a hotel in Sorrento and spend a couple days along the Amalfi Coast. The room was perfect, on the second floor, one floor beneath the lobby. My only issue with the room was the time in which it took for the A/C to kick on, and for safety reasons Italian hotels no longer appear to have irons or boards. Paid €28 to have a pant and two shirts pressed. Otherwise there was a beautiful orchid on the table and a welcome letter from both the manager and chef. The breakfast (included) was very nice and served in a large space behind the lobby with gorgeous views of the Positano cliff side. There is a very nice pool with bar, dining and attendants located on the roof. There are stairs that lead down the other side of the one way road with some great dining options just 1000 steps away! Getting to and parking is challenge as it is throughout Positano. The hotel is on one of the first curves on the one way road that stretches through the town (off the main two way road). Valet parking costs about €30 which is certainly worth it. Keep in mind that circling the one way road through Positano and traffic on the main road could be fast or could take an hour. Conclusion - would absolutely return if we were to stay in the town of Positano and the price was right.

We had a suite with breathtaking views of Positano. This hotel sits on the top of the coast and is worth the trek up the hill (there are free shuttles from this hotel as well as a bus). We chose to walk every time - we loved the adventure. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was excellent - again with gorgeous views. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because we were upgraded to the largest suite upon arrival. Shortly after unpacking, the hotel staff asked us to move to another suite that was smaller. They claimed that someone had "reserved" the suite we were at. They didn't seem to care that we were on our honeymoon and also did not approach us kindly but rather, forced us to move (which I still think we did not have to do). We did because we were determined not to let this hiccup ruin our honeymoon and it didn't. We would have appreciated kinder staff members handling this situation and something to THANK US for moving into another room due to the hotel's error.

The ocean view from our room.

I was so excited to stay at this hotel. But it was very disappointing. I'll start with the good- the view is awesome. The roof top is wonderful. The gentlemen who runs the breakfast is so welcoming and friendly. For the rest, it was a fine hotel, but nothing extraordinary. The biggest disappointment, and what has probably clouded our whole experience was the room we were in. Our room was small and stuffy and it was underneath the lobby and across from the housekeeping supply closet. Not very nice. The bathroom tiny with barely enough room to open the door. There was almost no view from the terrace, which was overlooking other guests and had absolutely no privacy. I suppose technically we had an ocean view, but it was hardly worth the cost. You had to be up at 7am. No choice, no resting in on vacation. The housekeeping staff starts work at 7am and that's when the squeaky doors, opening and closing doors, up and down stairs and loud noises begin. It's so far away from all the fun things in Positano. It's not convenient at all. The staff was fine. Not too helpful, they kept wanting to arrange excursions or events with the hotel - not around Positano. If we wanted to do anything off property we were on our own. We had dinner at the restaurant- good but not amazing food. Great service, though. The roof top is awesome, but there were no late hours for a cocktail (we were there in October, so that may be why). It's a fine hotel. But not 5 star and not worth the extreme cost. Come here for dinner, or to hang by the pool one afternoon, but stay down in Positano.

Breakfast

If you are looking for a true 5-star, classy experience, this is NOT the place for you. First of all, we booked through AMEX, which entitles us to an early check in at 12pm. We had contacted the hotel the day prior about our bags for the porter from the ferry and they mentioned nothing about transportation. None of the cabs from the square go there because it is the opposite way. We walked all the way up the mountain and when we got there at 3pm they told us our room wasn't even ready yet, but to go to the pool for lunch. The pool was PACKED and there weren't any chairs available, so we sat down to eat. The food was good but exorbitantly overpriced. During lunch, chairs opened up so I went to put towels on them. This woman that worked there originally told me they were open, but then later came over and told me they were reserved. For some "instagram influencer" who arrived AFTER us. They don't help you set up chairs or towels, they just watch you. When chairs finally opened up, they told us our room was ready. Our room turned out to be in some other building up the mountain from their main hotel. They call it their "villa suite" or something. They don't talk about any of that during booking. There's also no privacy. The balconies are on top of each other and very little separation between you and the next room. Every post they post on Instagram is fake. The hotel is actually really beautiful, but it is PACKED with people at all times. They just video their areas when no one is around. There are "instagram influencers" doing literal photo shoots with professional cameras all over their hotel disturbing everyone around them, but they say nothing. They actually promote it and love it because it's good marketing. We couldn't even eat breakfast in peace. We were in Italy for 10 days and stayed all over in multiple hotels. This was by far the most disappointing experience.

They also had an extensive cocktail list which was nice as most of the Amalfi Coast doesn't have an extensive cocktail list. The view here is gorgeous. This is a nice feature for any hotel, but in Positano it is an absolute life saver! The nearest street is a few flights up from the hotel entrance, so carrying heavy luggage down can be quite precarious. However, they have trained professionals ready and eager to help! I was amazed when they scooped up more luggage than I could carry alone over flat ground and easily traversed the steps to lead us to the hotel. Your first glimpse of Villa Magia is breathtaking. As you walk onto their courtyard, there are two beautiful trees and a flowerbed that overlook the cliff and the beachside of the city. Walking deeper in, you are met with a gorgeous terrace lined with vines and plenty of seating that overlooks the coast. It feels like walking into a postcard! This leads to the outer dining area for Luna, the hotel restaurant. Definitely try to eat here if it fits your schedule! The food is amazing, and the head waiter, Salvatore (Sal), was a joy to interact with. He will make wonderful suggestions and make you feel right at home. The staff at the front desk, just inside past the terrace, are also fantastic. They ameliorated every aspect of our stay, including providing us with an iPhone and messaging system via WhatsApp for 24-hour assistance. We worked primarily with Jada, who was amazing and so welcoming. When she found out we were planning a day trip to Capri, she not only reserved our tickets for us (which we found out later sold out, so we were lucky she had!), but also gave us her personal recommendations as she used to be a skipper for one of the boats. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and had absolutely amazing views. There were high ceilings and even built-in sauna! Our favorite parts were the sun room and the balcony garden. Every morning they would deliver breakfast to our room (which we had pre-selected the night before and sent via WhatsApp), and they would set it up wherever we liked. Our entire stay the staff made us feel like both family and royalty all at once. I absolutely cannot recommend Villa Magia enough. Hurry to make your reservation, because there are only 12 rooms on property! A one-of-a-kind experience that is sure to enhance your visit in beautiful Positano.

It is located in the middle so you walk down a few flights of stairs from the main road or down several flights to the beach depending on where you are going. Whether you are going up to the main road for dinner or down to the dock for a boat tour, you minimize climbing stairs with this prime location. Don't get me wrong there are stairs on all paths but we found our hotel to be in the best possible spot as opposed to being located at the top of the mountain creating a long climb home each day or at the bottom where you would have a long climb up each day. Beyond the ideal location, here are the other reasons my family will look no further for hotel accommodations when traveling to Positano. Staff: The staff were so easy to communicate with from the very beginning. After booking our apartment for the week, my husband's work conference dates changed in Sicily. I emailed the staff at Albergo Miramare and within hours they adjusted our dates with no issues. Danielle and Nicola were incredible with arranging transfers to and from the airport for my family. They assisted us in chartering a private boat to Capri which was our favorite day of the trip. Every staff member we encountered from reception, porter service , housekeeping and restaurant staff were all friendly and professional. Room: We booked the apartment for our family of four. Our apartment was located across the steps from the reception office and only a few steps up from the hotel restaurant. The apartment had two bedrooms, two full baths, two closets, a small lounge area in the master bedroom and a full living area between the two bedrooms and hallway connecting the two bedrooms. The apartment was spacious and having the full living area was a nice feature when taking breaks from the heat during the day. The air conditioning was of US standard as it really cooled the entire apartment unlike many other air conditioning units we have experienced in our travels abroad. The beds and pillows were soft and comfortable which made for a good nights sleep. Housekeeping changed sheets and replaced towels daily. The private balcony was the icing on the cake for us. It was spacious with two tables for enjoying dinner and four lounge chairs for resting and enjoying the views. The view was so picturesque from our private balcony. Restaurant: The breakfast included in our room rate was served daily from 7:30-10:30 in La Scalinatella. The restaurant was just beautiful with a paper tree draping from the ceiling and walls. The views from the restaurant are the best you will find in Positano. Each morning there was a diverse buffet served with fresh fruit, cooked vegetables, cheese selections, sliced meat selections, eggs (boiled, scrambled and fried), bacon, sausage and hash browns. Each day they offered different sweet options such as a lemon cake, ricotta torte, pancakes and chocolate cake. Once seated you were also served a selection of crossaints. Between the beautiful setting and the nice selection of breakfast options it was a delightful way to begin your day. Be sure to request the hotel's porter service upon your arrival and your departure as they will meet you at the road to carry down your luggage. Should you have an early morning departure they will carry up your luggage the night before and lock it in their storage unit to prevent you from carrying it up yourself upon your departure. Be sure to arrange this valuable service. If you are looking to book your stay in Positano then look no further as Albergo Miramare is such a gem.

They even set up a private car to pick us up at the train station and return us back to Naples after our stay here. The men that helped with our luggage we really appreciate - I can't imagine doing that job all day with the steps in Positano. The cleaning team were great too and cleaned our room each time we left. The view from the room is jaw dropping. And having the pool to use at the luxurious sister hotel, a 10 minute walk away, was also amazing and a great plus. John Steinbeck once stayed here and wrote, "Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn't quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone." It really is a breathtaking, magical city that I was fortunate to visit. What makes it even more amazing is that it is owned by the Sersale family from Naples who have opened up their summer vacation home and turned it into a lovely hotel in 1951. They had purchased the adjacent building next door to expand. This hotel was also once a US Army rest resort. It is still a family operated hotel with some staff. Antonio, the co-owner and general manager was at the writer's workshop dinner, and his wife Carla does the gardening throughout and designs for the Emporio Sirenuse boutique store across the street. Famous celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Kylie Jenner have also stayed here. The rooms are a good size. We had a marble bathroom with huge bathtub and a small patio seating that had wooden lattice windows that opened to the pool/terrace overlooking the beach. I'm shocked about a Dyson hair dryer in its own box. The turn down service was so great. They laid out my sleep clothes, a small towel on the floor near the bed, slippers, a Baci chocolate (my fave), bottled water, turned down the lights and put music on the TV, and gave a card with the weather report for the next day. It was helpful! Positano was chilly and sometimes rainy mid March. Antonio, not the co-owner though same first name, was at the front and greeted us when we transferred from our AirBNB. He was the sweetest and helpful when I inquired about a tour to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. Even when I left before the writer's workshop ended, he said I should stay. I really wished I could! I had already taken 3 days post spring break from work since I had been to Germany and was headed to London before going home. The spa was open to the writers and their +1s. After hiking Mt. Vesuvius, I got to sit and relax my muscles in the sauna, ice room, and did 2 dips in the cold plunge pool. The snacks and tea were great. I loved that there was a shower with Aveda products. The gym was also on the same floor. La Sponda restaurant at the hotel terrace area is a Michelin star. They're usually open for dinner, but they were closed because it was still considered winter and not open until the end of March or beginning April during peak season. We were fortunate to enjoy a cocktail hour prior to dinner at La Sponda specifically for the writer's workshop. They also served a buffet breakfast plus a la carte entrees for 2 days. I missed one day since I had my tour of Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius in Naples and left early am before breakfast. I did take advantage the second day! Btw, you can also order in room service. I loved everything at Le Sirenuse from all the plants and flowers to the detailed decor, epic views, delicious food and friendly staff. This was a once in a lifetime experience I will never forget.

After the first night the stairs down were my route of choice. I remain 100% happy with my decision to book 3 nights at Positano's Hotel Reginella.

Love this hotel!…read more I'm in love with Positano and in love with the Reginella. Positano can be difficult to navigate when you first arrive if you are not familiar with it. If you take the ferry in there are porters who can bring your bags up not affiliated with the hotel. The hotel offers an affordable transportation option to be picked up or dropped off at the Naples airport. Taking the stairs up or down is the fastest way to get to the beach or center but is a little bit of exercise. However being a few levels up provides incredible views and puts you much closer to a lot of great restaurants including my favorite Da Vincenzo. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and attentive. They all go out of their way to help you and do it with a smile and professionalism that is as good as it gets. They all felt like friends by the end of my stay. The room was exceptionally clean and we had an amazing partial view of the town. Breakfast is available on the first floor with excellent coffee. The staff made terrific recommendations to us while we were there for restaurants, the beach and getting around. I can't wait to go back to Positano and the Reginella.

Leonardo is simply the best of the best. First of all, hello Robert Downey Jr?? Let's just say he not only looks just like Iron Man himself, but also has all of his charisma as well. He truly made our time here unequivocally special and honestly just made us feel so welcomed. I will never forget when the hotel had live music on Wednesday night and he danced with my mom. The environment he cultivates for his guests is unlike no other. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the wonderful bar team too. All of the boys were so kind to me, they made me feel like royalty. Needless to say I was blown away by all of the wonderful people working here. The beauty. The hotel is showered in beautiful pink flowers and gardens that are impossible to ignore. To say the views are spectacular would be an extreme understatement. I don't have the words to fully convey how truly magnificent this hotel is. I already miss it greatly and it's only been one month. If there is another time where I should find myself lucky enough to be in Positano again, it will not be up for debate where I will be staying.
